Quote from pearcy_2k7 :Actually i remember a IRC convo Josh (Arrow) showed me during the 6H SO4 race and one of the SK guys talking to scipy about something similar, depends who you guys told.

Yes, but he stopped it on the Friday before the south city race, the day we found out.

the sad thing is that scipy did not stop using it when he got asked for it, and thats the only thing he should be blamed for.

Erm? When we found out he was infact cheating, he was told to stop and he did so, unless someone else confronted him first?

Quote from AppiePils : As I recall it correctly, it was also you who ask for FrankMD's tool, which essentially entails the same functionality as the additional rule?

What? Franks tool just simply told us which side we should be starting on and would position us in the correct formation, never did it have anything to do with not heating the tyres.

Once again, the reason for the crashes at south city is shown in the attatched jpegs, to begin with the SC car was doing ~95mph, also in the middle sector it reaches this speed, now logic would say that it would also hold this speed on the back straight.

So, two new rules that would sort this out and keep the tyre warming?

1. Set a speed for the safety car to stick to on straights, for example 100mph is more than enough (About 160kph)
2. Keep atleast 5 cars lengths to the car infront.

I don't know why the SC slowed down so early on South city, whether it was to let the recent time out people catch up I don't know, but it never usually slows down untill the last corner which is more than enough time for people to get into formation.

You guys are penialising the drivers because of what happend at South City, but it wasn't just the fault of the drivers.

Watch the restart of the 24 hourt race after the server crash, I specificly remember a team with the FXR, into T1 their tyres were black, probarly about 30 degreese, he couldn't turn and went straight on while going about 30mph slower than normal through turn 1.

@ 3j, if there are to many Montoyas, then fix it, inform each team manager of each Montoya that they have to sort out their driver or face a penalty.

This is supposed to be a the MoE, the peak of LFS endurance racing, yet were gunna be even be restricted with stupid rules like this?

@ d1, when I say 5 car lengths I mean just for the single file traffic while everyone is warming there tyres, but when it goes to double file we just use the exact same format that were on. It's like driving IRL in the rain, you allways leave a much larger gap for stopping than you do in the dry, shouldn't be hard at all.

Why don't we just introduce that each car must have a gap of about 5 car lengths to the car infront and we wouldn't be having any of these problems?

South city was a complete freak accident, the safety car slowed down which was fine for the GT1 cars because we could visibly see everyone slowing, but watch it from the Mercury GT2 car, he comes over the brow of the hill and surprise buttsecks, there's a traffic jam.

Especcially in this patch when we have to use R3s the temperatures drop like stones and especcially now we have a broadcast the first two laps of a MoE race is gunna look like a complete noob fest untill we get some heat in the tyres.

That's balls to be honest, I'd bet my house on it being far more dangerouse having 30 cars bombing into t1 with cold tyres at south city than having accidents in the warm up lap.

Btw, these problems only came around because of a few specific idiots, and the safety cars pace dropping by quite alot on the back straight of south city.

Quote from pearcy_2k7 :, you need to realise not everyone has had the amount of time you have had to perfect your driving technique and that not everyone with my experience can keep themselves out of some sort of trouble during 2hours of driving.

Quote from pearcy_2k7 : Look at Rambojorgen or something's stats hes done less miles that most of the reall fast guys yet he can still keep up with the best of them at times, stats aren't everything, its more to do with how much effort you put into developing your driving witht the time you've had.

Lol? So what your saying is you put more effort into the IGTC than you did in the MoE?

I'm really curious btw, how you can drive a GT1 car to fast and consitently, then in the far easier GT2 car you can't even get it out of the pits without hitting the wall?

You don't have to be an "alien" to have common sense and common sense says don't drive backwords into on coming traffic.

Learning curve? I watched you drive at Aston North in the IGTC and to be quite honest you seem to have learned extremely well, you were doing the same times as your team mates Rudy and AMB which were under a second from the top pace, funny that.

Quote from pearcy_2k7 :There was no need for me to be on the brakes i was already at a standstill, what was i supposed to do? start reversing back and then someone that actually takes notice of a yellow flag and does aviod me gets hit?

If youd look more carefully, youd see when i anitially spun i was bang in the middle of the corner, so i tried moving to behind the apex hoping everyone would miss me but i was postitioned wrong, me moving forward didn't make the slightest bit of difference to the outcome, actually it helped because if i hadn't he would have hit me square on.

Lol, your hularious, the only reason I said you didn't brake was because you said you did, but actually, reversing would have been the best thing you could have done in this situation, giving people coming around the corner time to react, driving head on into them was the worst thing.

Btw, the same happend with 3id some laps later with Inferno, the 3id car was sat the wrong way in T1, but he didn't move, thus Petri was able to drive around him.

Quote from pearcy_2k7 :Ray, i didn't drive into any oncoming traffic if you watch the replay, in real racing your always told to keep your foot on the brake if you spin, then the people coming towards you can aviod you without playing guessing games.

I'll give you a clue, the "loud" pedal is shown in LFS by the little green bar at the bottom right, i'll give you another clue, that number in the middle of the screen shows what speed your car is doing.

Funny when I watch the replay I see that A you don't even touch the brake when your car starts spinning and B The first thing you do before you even stop is hit the throttle.

Edit : Holy shiot! I never even noticed that speedo got spun at the start, awesome recovery

Quote from pearcy_2k7 :i accept responsability for it because at the end of the day i got the penalty so im guessing i was in the wrong.

.

What was the penalty given? If it was just a DT then you got off lightly, as that would just have been for the cutting of the yellow line, but there's also driving the wrong way into oncoming cars.

Ah right, a stop go, quite deserved IMO, though it doesn't really matter when your race was ruined in the first hour. :P

Quote from PaulC2K :

Of all the racing i watch, non of them offer you a choice of which side of the grid you start on, which is why you always hear about people starting on the dirty line and things like that, but rarely would you hear any of them say they'd prefer to have qualified a place worse to be on the other side of the grid.

Someone didn't watch the ITV build up to the F1 today, Kimi said he was far happier starting 3rd than 2nd, claiming 3rd was better than second to be starting.

Oh yea, I meant to say I was more than happy starting on the outside of the grid, When I was braking for T1 I knew I had braked late and watching Johannes brake later meant I would be easily on his outside for the next corner, untill the silent assassin Jay decided he wanted to touch my ass before I left.

Well I think someone should pay Frank to make his starting tool work in these patches becuase that was by far the best solution to any of the problems we've had.

At the start I use the look to the side function, in this case to watch Johannes, you only have to take a few looksover at him which is not the hardest thing in the world to do. Everyone else seems to be able to do and to be quite honest if your not able to keep your position at the start then you really shouldn't be doing it.

I just have to say, what luck Inferno have? I mean, i've only saw two and I wasnt speiciflcy looking for the second incident, but when Pearcy comes out of the pits, cuts the yellow line and ploughs into the side of the inferno car, then like an hour later, the 3id car comes out of the pits and does the exact same thing to them. :P But yea, it was really quite a shame to see such incidents occurring, our race was ruined by the above incident, people just not giving a shit.

Meh, atleast we have westhill, lots of room, big speed differnce.

Even though I think it was out of Glocks hands, they came through the ranks toghether to reach F1, so obviously he would be less bothered by seeing Lewis going by him.

Though I can say I lol'd at the Massa's because they shouldn't have been stupid enough to celebrate before checking the monitors.
