Quote from Jakg :"HD" on the GFX card just means it'll do HD resolutions (i.e. 720p, 1080i/p, etc), which most of them will all do.

DVI -> HDMI *should* give a better picture, but it's well worth seeing what they recommend in the manual - but VGA would work fine as well (but being Analogue you shouldn't get as good picture - but chances are you won't be able to tell the difference).

PS - Nice TV!

Not so fast... My Toshiba has a max resolution of only 1280x1024 when I'm connecting my PC via VGA (or D-Sub like they call them now) whereas I'm writing this in Full HD via DVI/HDMI...

Quote from kirmy :just a question about braking, have all cars had something done to their braking, because before the patch when i fully applied the brakes in the FXR and locked up the engine didnt lose revs and stall almost, or did it happen, i cant remember, but in the new patch i noticed it immediatly, new features of braking ?

Got that in the old patches plenty, the more open the diff the more prone the car is to do that when both driven wheels are locked... Someone once said it's the diff locking up - whatever that means...

Quote from scipy :Obviously, if the Scirocco is made to have 2000 Nm brakes a full travel of the pedal will cause all wheels to lock up at any speed, I'm not saying threshold braking will be impossible to perform - it will be doable, but only if you start using 40-60 % of the brake pedal travel - which will make it stand out from all the other cars in LFS (in a way that it needs to be driven completley different).

GOOD, imo... Give the cars more character, maybe that gets rid of the "1 car used only"-classes...

Quote from rjm1982 :Aside from the CTRA server (good job there, i must say), I can't think of more than a handful of races that haven't had a huge T1, or at least L1 wreck.

Also, people try harder I think in iRacing. It's an investment mentality... if you're putting something into the system, you want to get as much out as you can.

Also, while prices may rise/fall a little, the subscription model will never change. That comes from John Henry and Dave Kaemer themselves. Your subscription to the service is as much "dues" to the sanctioning body as it is payment for the game.

I've had PLENTY of races without big wrecks and restart-fests... If the quality of racing didn't decline greatly over this year I can't follow you... On the other hand: I've had quite some issues with CTRA back when I visited them with hot-headed people who desperately tried to win to gain points - and those haven't invested a single dime nor had they any form of prize (money) to strive for...

Grml, those aren't screenshots, those are artworks at best! :arge:

Kudos for openly whipping a game/hardware when it deserves it... Good to see advertisement hasn't affected speaking your mind...

Any chance of seeing some reviews of the new Fanatec stuff (pedals!)?

Quote from DeadWolfBones :Some TVs definitely don't support 1080p via DVI, though. Have to get a DVI->HDMI converter.

fwiw I hear really good things about the Toshiba REGZA 32" 1080p.

1) Have a new-ish graphics card with DVI-output and a HDMI-adaptor included in the box
2) Buy TV and HDMI cable
3) ???
4) Profit!

Come on people, there's tons of information about HDMI and DVI out there, you just have to read it!

Quote from G. Dierckx :So it should work on any DVI connector? Cause what I'm wondering is, i would like to buy this video card with hdmi support : http://alternate.be/html/produ ... showTechData=true#tecData but it doesn't has a plugin to connect a hdmi cable.. So I would need that adapter right? But isn't it possible to use that adapter on any other DVI connector?

DVI = HDMI without sound - there are no other differences apart from the connector layout... ATI packs a HDMI-adaptor to every new-ish card they sell, so all you need is a HDMI cable to connect it to your TV...

I use a Toshiba 37XV505D, no problems whatsoever... 37" with an LG panel - so it's an IPS panel - for under € 1000, you can't beat that with normal monitors...

Quote from Hyperactive :Rev matching? Like on downshifts you must mean? On downshfts you need to match the revs or blip the throttle in both sims. But on upshifts it's flatshifting all the way in LFS as it is in iracing with few exceptions. LFS has no clutch damage, it has clutch heat which is not clutch damage.

There seems to be a general problem in comprehension lately...

I'll try explaining it so everybody understands:
When you shift gears in a normal H-gate box car in LfS, you either have to a) use the pedal/button assigned to the clutch, b) have the autoclutch engage the clutch for you or c) wait/play with the throttle until the revs are exactly matched for the next gear to be engaged...

Now in iRacing, you just select the next gear and it magically appears, no clutching or revmatching of any kind needed... This popped up not just here, but I've seen someone mentioning it on RSC as well...

Sure, it's not a make or brake-feature, but it makes you wonder how many other shortcuts have been taken that may not be as apparent, when supposedly so much is spent on details...

Yeah, and I can't play at all, because those retards forgot there are other controllers than gamepads... Henco Nico runs in circles because the pedals aren't in a center position... Forget mapping, two profiles for the 360 pad surely are what everybody needs... :banghead:

Whats everyone's best times? I can get a 2.20 - just

2:11.499 with custom skis...

I don't know what the jump even does: First, it makes you slower because the player animation goes to an upright position - which costs you time -only to go back to crouching a splitsecond later... I've found I gain nothing - even lose time trying to use the jump... Additionally, the skier bounces quite a bit when landing using the jump...

Quote from mutt107 :since you must register a xbl account to play this game does that mean you can play people from the computer on your xbox 360?

No... One is Xbox Live, the other Games for Windows Live... For some reason, Microsoft and others don't want to throw PC- and console gamers together... Maybe to not have to rethink their controller...
