Quote from AndRand :ermm... but trying hard to stay off the line you will make silly moves, ie. when going from lefthander to right corner you have to cross racing line I would rather propose to stay off the apexes Not saying that to argue but I dont claim racing line to be all mine when I see backmarker.

Quote from Ayreon :Im drivin lfs since 2004 , so i know where to go when getting blue flags.
(if i ever get them)

But for someone just starting with lfs, its a nice way to know where to go.

Both too complex, there is one so simple guideline it cannot be mistaken: Choose one side of the track, show it and stay there - if the lapping driver has even one iota of race craft in him he will find a way to get by...

Quote from Gener_AL (UK) :Here we go blame the fast guys [...]

If you reread his post, he nowhere accuses the WR-ranks of that behaviour... And there definitely are people out there who fall apart when they are forced to take any other than the(ir) ideal line... I once saw someone taking half the field out and blaming his opponent when clearly he failed to take into account that he had to brake earlier/harder being on the inside and simply didn't make the corner... Maybe that term is a bit misleading, but then we all have to find a better one, don't we?

dungbeetle, saying you don't want Ground Effect for safety reasons is like saying ban wings because they might brake off... Ground effect has been used 15 years prior to Senna's death and sadly was made the scapegoat for the accident... Don't get me wrong, when Ground Effect goes wrong you're almost certainly looking at a big crash, but - if I'm not mistaken - it is still used on both Daytona and Le Mans Prototypes (which is in part why the Mercs flipped spectacularly 11 years ago), and I don't hear them dying all the time...

Quote from jbirdaspec :There are camera controls. There are commands to break away from the built in camera views and do it yourself. And there are blue flags. Depending how your HUD is setup, but they appear in the top left by default.

I know that... The point is what did the other "team"members do while the two guys implementing that were at work?

And now with the next build that supposedly focuses on improvements to the already existing content (finally!) there are no new content releases... I'm sorry, I call BS on the whole "two dedicated teams"-thing...

(Last update on 22.12.09)

What has google to do with it (especially since the numbers seem to be input by the URL)? Does it take more races by one individual into account? Anyway, double the members in at least four times more leagues, you have to see where I'm coming from...

And with all that "there are two teams!!!11" and all that, you could almost make another forum-bingo... What has that second team until recently? Sat on their hands? Or should I ask how many engineers it takes to implement blue flags or camera controls?

Why content again? We can't have a proper 24h because once again opening the restrictive system everything is built around proves too hard, but instead of addressing missing features they add content... When will they react to the ever declining active members and get the core up to date instead of adding more and more to it?

Quote from blackbird04217 :Yes; someone may need to correct me since it has been awhile since I've done it but:

The driver waiting will press the little 't' next to the driver he is teamed with before the pitstop happens. The current driver also needs to press the t or do something before / during the pit. Then after/during the pitstop the drivers are swapped.

The first driver will want to be sure to put the car into neutral, otherwise it will stall when he gets out.

The stopping driver presses the T when his pitstop finishes, it doesn't work before...

Civ 4 complete pack is now only € 13,60 - seems there are more special 24h-deals than advertised on the home page...

I really can't moan about the speed - I just downloaded Clear Sky with 700-900 KB/s...

Quote from Ball Bearing Turbo :There's 16 people that've bickered about combos in this thread who live in similar time zones & are guaranteed to have similar personal schedules?

Maybe not, but without trying they'll never find out - which I'm sure you're aware was my real point... I mean there have been servers like desired by them in the past, set up just on forum initiative... Granted they all were short-lived, but I bet you that - if any effort would go into it - there would be such a server found or set up by someone on here in no time... Of course, playing the grumpy old man telling the world how bad it has gotten is much more convenient than taking action to make it better...

The people in this thread alone who voiced their desire for other combos than the usual cliché ones would be enough to at least half fill a server, yet instead of doing something you rather bicker about it on the forums... I'm sorry guys, you only have to blame yourselves for not putting your words into action...

Quote from Fordman :Times change, so do people [...]

You recognize that, but you still feel the need to rant about it? Either you go with the times or you go away... I'm not saying all is good - I certainly am unsatisfied with some things here and/or see the potential and need for improvement - but desperately clinging on to "old times" never worked, and never will...

Quote from danowat :Just went out to my car, and its like the gearbox was frozen, stick would move back and fore, but not side to side.

Left it running for a bit, then tried again, after a bit of pulling, it seemed to release.

Was -8 last night, could it just be a frozen linkage?, or something more sinister?

Yeah, I had something similar too: the movement wasn't limited like yours, but you could feel that the oil was close to being frozen and wasn't providing much lubrication... Not fun... :/

Quote from brandons48 :BUMP!

It's out, i've got it and god damn it's awesome!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v ... 4izQE&feature=related

It's out and also it's not at the same time... It's been in stores for the consoles for about a month now - they even had their first patch and DLC announced... Us PC gamers have to wait almost another two months to get their hands on it...

Jetta, Radical, Mazda, Skip or the Legends will be a blast on Brands... Not so sure about the C6, the Indy or the DP...

First Yoong, now Kovi and Trulli... They desperately don't want to win, do they?

Quote from ultrataco :How? I thought he wasn't even fit enough to replace Massa this year because of his neck. How's he going to be able to go an entire season?

Forget it, it's a PR-stunt to get coverage on the newly taken over Mercedes team, nothing else... It would be awesome if I'm wrong, but I'm usually not about those things...

Quote from nikka :I don't get it. Why all this talk about torque when it comes to shiftpoints? To accelerate as fast as possible you want as much power as possible, not torque? And a powercurve is (more or less) linear, so the optimal shiftpoint is always at the peak of the powercurve. If you shift before this point, there will be power in the powerband you'll never use, and after the shift you will end up at a lower point on the curve than if you shifted later. Whats the point of that?

Enlighten me please.

Nope, torque is what drives the wheels (and thus your car) forwards... Power defines how long you are driven forward (before you have to change gear)...

Read it again arox, nothing about drivers there... On that note, Yoong might be the worst person to learn from... Unless you want to be really slow on the track, then he'll be the best teacher you can ever have...

Quote from Turbo Dad :As per OP ,go to your car setup and change the steering maximum lock degrees to 9 or 10, to give a realistic steering ratio

And how would you handle hairpins like that? That's clearly no solution, I think Niels only included it to show the absurdity of a 270° wheel...

@rhodyracing: First, make sure Wheel Turn in your options is set to 270°... Then, play around with Wheel turn compensation - it slows the input down around the center, it will increase rapidely around the extremes though, so careful with sharp corners!

Quote from -NightFly- :Well, here's the story: I was watching tv tonight, holding a remote in one hand when i suddenly felt like it wen't a bit warm. I thought that it would be my hand heating it up at first, so i put remote on the table.
After 10-15 minutes (wanted to change volume) i took remote again and it felt extremely hot, so i dropped it, was a bit suprised, probably thatswhy i spilled it. Batteries rolled out, but since i've taped them inside (i've lost cover ages ago), it seemed a bit impossible. After i took a closer look it seemed like batteries, or at least one of them, had melted through the tape. I also attached a picture of it, taken few minutes ago.
Is it possible them to burn up until it bursts into flames? I'm afraid to leave batteries on even when i leave home now .

Any ideas what may cause this?

My guess would be you forgot that the duct tape is actually conductive and the heat comes simply from the electric current discharged from the batteries...
