In short, throttle and clutch work brilliantly, but the very long throw can't be adjusted as the pot stops working because the magnet isn't right next to it anymore... As for the load cell - I haven't got it in a sufficiently working state all evening - I get an effective travel of just 60 steps... For a few moments it seems to get better, then I have to throw a good bit of my body weight to get it over 20%, and sometimes it stop registering load at all, even when I basically stand on it - as it does right now...
Fanatec is working on a new firmware - I hope that redeems those problems...
You may not have noticed, but the only times there were anything else than static cameras and the odd interview were when the race was broadcasted on DSF, a german sports channel... So the next time you'll see something other than s/f-straight and paddock will be on Sunday from 13:00 to the finish...
Webstream for the ADAC 24h is online... It's only ads at the moment, the real stream should start in a few minutes... I could make out two streams, both seem to be the standard DSL-stream... Anyway, here the URL to both streams (like last year really):
The live map is also online at http://events001.gps-explorer.de/ More teams than I expected to show, seems a bit slow though and the map itself fails to load...
Might not fit THAT well into here - anyway, a reminder that the ADAC 24h race is on this weekend... And you can watch the whole race live on the internet: http://adac.24h-rennen.de/news ... 24h-live-im-internet.html (news bulletin in german) There will be two streams which will require DSL, the higher quality one even 2 Mbit download capacity... They'll be streaming from Saturday 15:30 to Sunday 16:30...
Additionally, you'll be able to watch where the cars are on the track on a live track map from GPSauge.de: http://adac.24h-rennen.de/news ... auge-auf-der-strecke.html (also in german) It has to be said though that only teams who choose to run the transmitter will be displayed - so it might be pretty scarce...
Both of them actually... Driving 10/10ths in a full course yellow is mindboggingly stupid... And the other one disrespected the first rule for exiting the pits: don't cross the fecking lines!
Heh, every second film has a weapon firing after you could clearly see the slider is locked back (=no ammo left)... The other half has an unlimited clip-size hack on...
I wish people would stop turning my words as if I said the deal is a bad thing...
To clarify, things I'm NOT expressing are:
-it won't help iRacing
-we won't get more members
-oval guys are favoured
-roadies get nothing
If there would be an iRacing version of the LfS bingo, I'd win it with ease just with the replys to my post(s)...
It will bring many members, yes... And I've lost count how many times I've heard those new members will race the road side as well - BS... Just look at the road stats, not that many US-flags there... I tried the oval side (I may try again sometime), I find nothing in it, why should it be different with someone else the other way round?
There really isn't much info in the announcement, that little bit is dug deep in a wall of marketing speak. The only things it clearly states are:
-NASCAR gives its name
-there will be a NASCAR-sanctioned league starting next year
Yes, it will make iRacing much more visible (only in the US though), but there is absolutely no mention of Grand-Am, TV coverage or anything... IF it had been continuous TV coverage (at a reasonable timeslot for added bonus), THAT would've been worthy of all the "think big"-talk IMO... Let sim-racing talk for itself, we don't need copying - that's my view...
@richard: You could've just looked up my LfSW-profile, but I post it here anyway: Bernhard Bendl
For all that "think big for #4!", this is pretty underwhelming, to put it diplomatically... One thing more for the oval guys to play with, but helps the road racing side of things nothing at all...
I'm also not sure how iRacing's target group and NASCAR's following are supposed to match up...
Just a reminder that at 1750 GMT, the second round of FIA GT is started at Adria Raceway... Earlier today, Wendlinger got Pole 3 tenths of a second before the two Maseratis, and the Brixia Porsche of Martin Ragginger snatched Pole - the first time for Porsche at this track...
Actually, only one thing is wrong: the heat model of the surface of the tyres... They heat much more rapidly (and also cool down much more rapidly) than in LfS - just think about the burning sensation you get from falling down on the street - and that's a speed of maybe 20 km/h (at best) where friction didn't even last half a second... Get the heat model right and you'll see so much more realistic smoke generation...
