[RANT]Well, seeing that the WR is from Sept. 09, which is well after release of any related physics updates not seeing any 1:33s after the patch (which one exactly?) is either blurting utter tosh or down to only driving with (very) inexperienced drivers (looking for easy prey, that guy?)... Also, there are 186 people who got into the 1:33s who also bothered to upload their hotlap, which means there are loads of people who can do that online especially when they can utilize the draft to get an extra speed advantage over driving alone...[/RANT]

Sorry, the text above is in no way intended to discourage you... On the contrary, given that you're not hindered technically you should get into the 103 %-times easily... 103 % of the WR is about 1:35.72, so already not that far away... But, Blackwood and XFG - being one of the few demo-combos - is well visited and known, so that time likely still not cut it in a race... You should be aiming for losing not more than half a second per minute lap time... Getting such a lap time consistently will get you a decent position in a race already... So, thats a 1:34.5 then... You being in the 1:36es means that you're doing something basic wrong (sorry, you are) - either the line or the braking or both... The good news is though that once those bad habits are eradicated, you should see your times tumble very fast indeed...

But as pointed out, with a replay we could analyze best what's wrong and where you could/should gain the most improvement...

Quote from bunder9999 :i hate suzuka... why can't it be fuji.

They (presumably Toyota) didn't want to host F1 anymore, and even if they did, I doubt they already cleaned up the mess the typhoon brought last month...

Oh, and :chairs: for hating Suzuka...

Quote from Mustafur :Would you lose your job if you got a speeding ticket?

Are you being intentionally thick? For your example to make any sense you would have to ask if anybody would hire you as an accounting clerk if you have a history of tax evasion on record... So, if you are deemed a hazard to yourself and others on the road, why should you be allowed to drive on a track?

On the off chance that it rains tomorrow Button will drive away with the F-duct...

But damn impressive lap by Alonso - I think he himself doesn't know how he did it...

Quote from GreyBull [CHA] :You gotta be kidding me dude, this corner must be one of the most interresting and challenging corner of the whole sim.

You've got to drive it in reverse - now that's challenging...

GOOD GOD

The sampled sound is fantastic for the flyby. Hopefully with the new sound engine they're working with they can liven things up a bit.

Since Alex Horn made that video I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't a clip from a RL flyby... I have yet to hear anything even remotely similar from the present sound engine, neither in terms of intensity nor volume...

Fanatec has the best bang for the buck, easily... Their Clubsport Pedals are in the league of ECCI and Frex, but cost only part of their price... I hear their wheels are very good as well... Fanatec has a problem with QC though, that's undeniable... Support is quite good and can help you - Fanatec usually is very forthcoming should the wheel be faulty, they often send spare parts or replace the wheel if there's a bigger problem... They are slowly getting on top of their issues, and once those are solved too Fanatec is looking into a bright future...

Logitech is the king of mass market wheels, not without reason... Their products are well thought out and mostly reliable... Pedal longevity is their achilles heel though, potentiometers may need recurring cleaning later in life...

You can't really go wrong with either of those brands, and it's up to you how much money you're willing to spend on it... I would advise to a wheel with 900° of rotation though - it's just more immersive than (a bit more than) a quarter of a turn either way...

I'm a bit underwhelmed by that track map... Track height extremes right on both ends of the start/finish straight, the rest more or less bang on in the middle and all the corners look like they'll be flat, the only few altitude changes all happening at straights...

When I heard hilly, I immediately thought Algarve... But I guess making a corner itself uphill or downhill, let alone originality is too much to ask from Tilke... I just hope my doubts are completely unfounded and that it turns out way better than what it looks like in the draft...

Quote from TehPaws3D :Hello, I've been wondering, Since this is starting to bug me, Is there anyway to make the GTR car lights (XRR, XFR, FZR, FXR) Yellow tented? Like the ones in real life have a yellow tint as to not blind a driver?

You can edit the .dds as already mentioned, but beware that it applies to ALL FXRs, UFRs, XFRs and XRRs... As the FZ interiors aren't done yet, your changes to the FZ_interior.dds would also change the FZ50s...

Oh, and just so you know: it's to distinguish the GT cars from the Prototypes in the dark, drivers will be blinded either way once they start to intimidate with full beams...

Quote from gezmoor :Hmm.. Imperial is arbitary and Metric isn't??

Don't know.. when you look at exactly how SI measures are defined, it seems just as arbitary as Imperial to me

SI unit definitions, (not many nice round numbers to be seen):

[...]

So one foot now is exactly the same that it was in the middle ages?

Why have you not taken the time to read up on how metres and kilograms were originally defined (which ironically is just a click away from the very site you linked to) instead of just throwing the (to remove any uncertainties) amended definitions into the discussion?

I really like the new transmissions... I got the downshifts without clutch down pretty much straight away, but the synchroed cars take soooo long to engage the higher gear without a clutch...

Once wear and damage is implemented (from the different crunching sounds I heard that shouldn't be that hard to implement), it'll make for great (strategic) racing...

Only thing I'm missing: currently the gearbox sounds are cockpit-only... We all heard crunching gears sometime in our life on the road - we know that's quite loud... In addition, I know from personal experience that the gearboxes on race cars are very loud - so loud in fact that you can hear a shift over the engine sound at the stands...

Quote from JPeace :Fair point I guess, but Im just trying to say how injust them breaking the rule is.

Of course it is - but legally speaking, Ferrari did no such thing... They never said "let him past" and the whole team - whether it be Massa himself, Smedley or Domenicali - made sure not to say anything that could incriminate them (further)... All the "evidence" would be circumstancial, not really enough for the FIA to act on it - but god knows they didn't need that in the past to deal out severe penalties...

Quote from JPeace :If it isn't punished by FIA in Motorsport and yet it is punished by the governing body of snooker for match fixing, its still the same thing right? Its still tampering deliberatly in the result.

If towing the team leader for the whole day and letting him go on the last few hundred metres in cycling is completely legit an unpunished, why should it be punished in F1? You see how irrelevant it is to cite rules from other sports?

Ey? Calling Hamilton in for tyres in Australia when he says they're still good? Two teams ordering their drivers to slow down for fuel problems in Istanbul which then go on and do blisteringly fast laps? Not to forget the whole (exaggerated) "wing-gate"... Sorry, you either have a very short memory span or you really have no idea what's going on in front of your eyes...

I don't know why anybody really is surprised by Ferrari's actions? Ferrari always had a clear no. 1, always will have... Alonso was faster the whole race (the whole weekend even) and is way ahead in the championship, getting him in front of the slower Massa without them holding each other up was the only way to ensure victory over an already charging Vettel...

No chance of a crash between teammates, no holding each other up and allowing a competitor to close in even faster and keeping the championship hopes of at least one of their drivers intact - even if you guys don't want to hear about it, it was the smart thing to do for Ferrari... Let's face it, every team does it, only difference to today is Ferrari did it in a very obvious way...
