107 and 6 - so no, sadly... I once was even at 117 and 3, to even out SAT and bumps a bit, but that didn't feel better either...

In unmodified form, things you feel through the steering are:
LfS is all mechanical SAT, with just the odd bump thrown in the mix.
nK delivers pneumatic SAT, mechanical SAT, and you also get a pretty good understanding of what's under the tyres. From what I drove spot on in regards to FF.
rF is bumps, canned effects (there, I said it) and some more weird stuff they try to sell as tyres.
iRacing is bumps, bumps, then some more bumps, and way back in the distance there might be some tyre forces. It's like a whisper in a storm - if you concentrate hard enough, you might hear it...

What I'm saying is: I doubt that having my wheel almost pulled out of my hands on the LRP front straight is even close to right. In relation, the most pronounced thing you should feel through the steering is in fact SAT (both mechanic and pneumatic). My old car was without power steering, and I never felt bumps even close as hard as SAT was... In fact, most bumps I felt in my hands (not talking about buttocks) only because the SAT changed... Something is just iffy, right now it's the suspension coming through the wheel rather than the tyres... If the new tyre model changes that, wonderful... I'm not expecting that radical of a change though...

Quote from Ball Bearing Turbo :There are no canned effects in iRacing, it's just that the track isn't made of glass for a change.

Show me where I said "canned" even once in my post?

Don't forget the difference Force Feedback makes... In LfS and nK, the most effects you get are tyre forces, while rF and iRacing (over)emphasize bumps and undulations, which takes away much of the tyre "feel"...

Haven't heard of a single case where someone was ignored continuously for over a month by iRacing support, quite the opposite in fact... Have you checked your spam-folder for their reply?

Quote from Scawen :But the carcass simulation, which I had to look into because the tread simulation model clearly ignored too much of how a tyre actually behaves, took me in a whole new direction for a good part of last year.

That's so eerily similar to what Dave Kaemmer said his new model is all about... Funny really how both are basically telling the same stories...

The story was even shown in a german news show a few days ago... Power of the internet, heh?

Yeah, thanks from me too, fantastic event as always...

I knew that I wouldn't be one of the fastest, but by keeping it clean through the bus stop - and quite a bit of luck to be honest - I managed to get into the semifinals to finally be utterly outclassed by Dave, no surprises there...

Quote from DeKo :Thats exactly what he said?

No, "over half a car off" is quite a bit more than one point (in its center), especially when I bring a perfect example where even a small portion of the car being over the grass gives you an unsafe driving penalty...

Quote from The Moose :Don't know how many times this misinformation has been spread, but the fact is you have to have over half your car off the racing surface to incur a 1x. You can happily stick two wheels on the grass with no problem at all.

Also not true... The centerpoint of the car needs to be off the "racing surface" to get you a x1... You could have all four wheels on either kerb or tarmac, if the centerpoint is off you get an incident... You can test that with every suddenly ending kerb...

By virtue of laggy steam shop servers that first declined my purchase (but didn't really) I now got the OddBox, Super Meat Boy and the Deus Ex Pack spare if anybody is interested in buying it off of me... (Please PM me)

Well, they're doing it again... Many developer packages and even whole catalogues with considerably reduced prices... F1 2010 50 % off, Bad Company 2 66 % off, Prince of Persia and F.E.A.R. packages both 75 % off and the Deus Ex Package (1+2) even a whopping 85 % off... That's only today's deals, and the sale will be going until Jan. 2...

Quote from richard dk :Spa is coming soon

I love those tree shadows over the track! Can't wait to drive there!

What will be your first car to try out at Spa? Not sure if I should take my personal number one, the V8 Supercar, or take the more traditional route and go with the Corvette...

I discovered something, a turbo intake on the front of the FZR or is it just a normal intake?

Yeah, the "interview" (if you can even call it that) was really bad... Speaking 10 seconds about the guest's achievements, then list all the cars he ever owned was a waste of airtime... Off the top of my head I'd have three questions relating to Aldrin's spacefaring adventure, which I think would have been 1000x more fascinating than the fact he owned a Saab at one point in his life... Constant yakking throughout the lap (the awkward? silence would have been better) didn't make the segment any better too...

The heli-part would have been better if it hadn't been a straight copy of the original TG film...

The Lambo-Part was ok though, and makes me hope that the show can grow out of being a (bad) rip-off into something more of an homage...

Quote from Bawbag :That V8 supercars race was brilliant but BS that Jamie won it, after he cut the chicane while in 2nd he should have had to give up the place, other than that it was crazy good.

Seeing that he only was in 2nd because he was punted out of the way just the corner before and he was the one actually trying to go through the chicane I'd say it was fair game...

Quote from JBiturbo :[...]some new phisics[...]

See, there's your logic error... You can't just do "some physics", because if it is only "some" then you might as well not start in the first place as you will get something worse out of it than what you've started with... Rubber doesn't behave like most objects, it has very specific and quite unique tendencies... So, in order to replicate this odd behaviour you have to first put a big effort on research and then you have to translate it to a language a computer can work with...

Add to that there are only a handful of guys in the world who truly understand tyres, and they are all working for tyre manufacturers and they all have signed big non-disclosure agreements... Even racing teams often have just a rudimentary knowledge - they get the specs from their contacts and make it work for their car, and that's it...

But if you think tyre physics are that simple: I dare you to do the first step only and list all the unique characteristics of tyres right here, let's see how long it takes you just for that...

And that was just the end of it - it already started 15 laps before, Whincup, van Gisbergen and Courtney running nose to tail with identical laptimes lap after lap... That's why I love the V8SC, it produces some of the closest and clean racing in the world... A far cry from the shuntfests disguised as touring car racing in other parts of the world...

Hats off to the Aussies, they know how to (make a) race!
