Last time I checked nuclear power has been a thing of the last half century, certainly not pre-industrial era... I also happen to know we Austrians aren't riding around on our horses in chainmail, and yet we don't have any (working) nuclear power plants...
I am all for nuclear power - just not fission... And it would have never taken off if the still unsolved problem of how to deal with the waste would not have been allocated to the general public... We will still suffer the consequences of half a century not dealing with it when we terraform our umteenth space colony...
Just as a reference, Dave Kaemmer is working on his new tyre model for over a year now... And Dave has a big investor and (thus?) access to extensive testing data, he even had a whole tyre testing facility at his disposal at one time! Scawen has only the data he can find with no investment from the outside and doesn't have a team of engineers to bounce ideas to... Still, both are out "soon"...
Scawen, you may (or not) know that I always understood and defended your position to delay something to make it right... I know from what I gathered about programming and tyre behaviour that you're wrestling with a hugely complex topic... Besides you, there are only 3 people in the whole world (one fourth retired) that have enough knowledge of both to be able to create a good racing simulator, so that speaks volume of the task you're working on...
That said, you get to say this only once:
It seems that you have fallen into the same trap again... We all - well, at least most of us - can understand that a plan changes or that an obstacle proves harder to tackle than it looks initially, but you're making the same mistake again... Once is human, twice in a row - doesn't reflect that favourably...
The story could be the only thing making it more than a generic shooter, and I fear it will be so crammed with hurrah-patriotism that it won't be enjoyable for anyone outside the USA...
Haven't seen a post in their forums disagreeing with the popular (better? ) opinion, so yeah, unanimous... I would hope it's ingame - maybe a mistake to express that only on the other forum - but past experience and the wording in the episode ("hotlap", "recorded in fall 2010") are quite overwhelming counter-arguments...
Yes, I reported the fact that unanimous opinion was that the sample isn't an ingame one... You said it yourself: these are opinions, nowhere did I or anyone else claim the absolute truth... Let's have the freedom to have an opinion, shall we?
Yeah, consensus is that's the base recording they took of the real thing rather than ingame though... Why they would present something that probably has no relevance to the final product, no one knows...
I've never seen any repairs being done on an engine apart from maybe 24-hour races... And those weren't repairs on overheated/overrevved engines which is the kind we see in iRacing... That's (again) more towards game than sim to me...
Oh, and the engine isn't really stallable (yet) - you can only cut the ignition, else the mandatory anti-stall will save you... They already got some flak for not making it an option or tying it to the auto-clutch...
If it's really as good as they're saying it is, then it will do away with tricks through tyre pressures...
Many things could be prevented by simply having another scrutineering after the race (as it is the norm in real series), as was requested by members for a long time now... Yes, there would be sour faces initially, but in the end I think everybody would agree it's for the better...
So... Gotten it yesterday, played for a few hours... The pedals are like an on/off-switch, I wonder why I bothered with configuring it to an axis anyway... Cruising is therefore almost impossible as holding a certain speed (except terminal velocity) practically can't be done...
Also, when you configured both the paddles and the H-shifter in TDU1 you'd be using whatever was available in the car, in TDU2 you have to choose either one or the other in the options, so you're shifting with the gates even in the F430, which is quite a leap backwards to 1... :banghead:
And the old trick of banging it into 2nd from 6th to turn a corner still works...
This might be a sore point for you... In any given league, races are started only once an hour at best, many run only every two hours - higher licenced series with low participation even run only on specific days (to pool the few together)... You could fill the spaces with private testing, practice, doing a qualifying or time trial run or you could run another series altogether though...
Can't say much about hosted racing as I haven't been doing it, but hosting yourself might not your first choice, as it's $ 3.00 per event (up to 3? hours long)...
You make it sound like it's adultery to enjoy both...
I'll be trying to (finally) dive into the deep end with the FG01 after what basically was a season getting up to speed (more like getting/finding any at all)... Coincidentally, the new tweak made it behave a bit better now, so it'll be interesting to see how that pans out (also for me personally)...
