OK...got the HARD part done...updated vBulletin and PHP, just MySQL to go now...hopefully THAT shouldn't be too much hassle (Except from my version to current version is a BIG jump )

Haven't had to call on my back ups YET, but making a fresh backup after every successful install

HELP!!!!!!


Got a BIG problem... tried updating my server stuff from earlier versions of the above stuff to the latest...and like a prat tried doing it all in one hit
Result: totally fscked-up database!

Luckily I was intelligent enough (just!) to do a full back-up BEFORE I started the upgrades, and then discovered that PhpMyAdmin doesn't like restoring a backup if its bigger than 2Mb...Mine weighed in at 22Mb!!
Got around that problem in the end by re-installing all the old stuff, and then using the Mysql command prompt to create the table and restore the data with the command ">mysql source mybackup.sql" which worked, but took bloody ages!

Question is, is there another way to get from PHP 4.x + MySQL 4.1.1 + vBulletin 3.5 to PHP 5.x + MySql 5.x + vB 3.7.2 EASILY???

Any help greatly appreciated..Thx!

As some of you _MAY_ have noticed, the forums (along with my server!) are all down at the moment...hopefully all will be back up and running soon (ish)
If anybody is a MySQL wizard/magician and wants to come and help me out, it might get done quicker..but until then, just bear with me for a while


[EDIT] 0203 04/09/2008 - After 13 hours solid of banging my head against a wall, the server (and forum!) is back up and running

In case anybody was wondering, it is easy to back up a database using PhpMyAdmin...just try restoring it with the bloody thing! My backup file was 22 Mb+, and the stoopid app will only allow up to 2Mb, even after setting the limits in php.ini to VERY high! In the end I had to go into the command prompt and install it all as a "source"...which took bloody ages! [/EDIT]

From a personal perspective, I use Avast, my router firewall (and it IS a firewall, not just a NAT.. I have to actively block sites from EmmyLou so that she gets on with work instead of surfing the interwebs!! ) and Windoze Defender...all free, all work, and so far, virii and trojans and malware are things that OTHER people get...not me

Make sure that you have ENABLED the settings in the control options screen..my G25 works a treat - apart from the clucth and shifter (Full Version...NOT demo!)
Also, its worth setting up a profile in the Logitech profiler for Euro Trucks...and have the G25 set to 900 rotation...believe me, its worth it, trucks handle very realistically (for reversing with trailer attached) that way!
