Quote from imprezzer :I know, it doen't really mather what system you pick. In this case, because I didn't know if everyone sees their stats in metric system, I chose for this method because it is the same "formula" as miles/gallon, which I thought was the standard in "imperial" countries.

I know that you know I just wanted to point out that it's more comprehensible for some of us Those figures really don't tell me much and I'm far too lazy to recalculate it

I've seen a documentary about an electric car, which was intended to outrun any petrol propelled sports car. OK, it had 8(!) wheels, was huge and heavy, but it did some 220-240mph. Nevermind that Veyron does 253mph. Anyway, they were all the time proudly claiming, that it was superior to any sportscar in acceleration and top speed (and even if it were), they only did one lap on an oval test track. I think that any car (not even a sports car) would last longer

I don't have that many laps yet, but I would like to let you know, that in many european countries, the fuel economy is measured in "how many litres of fuel do you need to drive 100km". In other words: l/100km. And it's not bitching, it's a friendly advice

Quote from Racer Y :Hmmm.. Modding. Sounds great. Let's say you made this really good mod for LFS right now. RIGHT NOW. And this mod is totally cool cars tracks and all.
What happens to this mod once another patch is released? Something that has physics changes or even some seemingly minor change?

The creator of that particular mod will have to take care, it's his mod, it's his problem. At least until he has no contract with the devs.

I am for having one universal car that has adjustable physical properties, as weight, basic dimensions, power, grip etc. Within boundaries of course. But because of the large amount of LFS purists this will hardly ever be accomplished. However, I consider it as a good compromise between the custom models and original-cars-only.

What is more important? What the car looks like or what it handles like? Remember, this is LFS, not NFS.

Quote from boosterfire :The fact is, it's definitely not a good idea to allow a community to modify an online game. It gets the game just way too much worthless crap.

Now that's what I call a reasonable argument.

Concerning the servers, quality and stuff, many of you forget that LFS can also be played offline. Why should anyone care about what models (crappy or not) do I play with if it's just in my offline privacy? Forbid the mods in online gaming, allow them offline. It's less trouble for the devs, more fun for those who want their favorite cars to drive in LFS. Anyway I think that people don't want custom models to show them off online, they just want to drive them around LFS tracks to know what it's like - and this can be done offline very well.

It is some time that I successfully resisted to posting in this thread. However, I cannot hold it anymore and have to express my opinion. Frankly, I don't give a about the car's look. I only see it from the cockpit anyway. What I would like to be able to do is to change some basic parameters of the vehicle, for example: We have a Škoda Octavia Combi (Saloon) and I, unfortunately, don't have any chance of doing some more aggressive driving with it other than the usual everyday cruising around the city. In LFS, I would pick a car that resambles the most and just set it's power to 101bhp, 1600kg, basic dimensions (length, width, height), 5 speed manual gearbox, front wheel drive and a pair of craps hanging on the rear view mirror for better weight distribution . Then I would give it hell on LFS tracks, just for the kicks. That's my vision. Just add one generic car (be it for Offline racing only if you want) with a few sliders to adjust some basic parameters. No visual changes needed, just different handling.

Anyway, I'm not saying that LFS is bad the way it is right now, I am satisfied with what I paid for and I understand that "model-mods" aren't of any interest to the devs at this time, because even 3rd party mods require some support from the devs and they undoubtedly don't have time for that.

This is my drop of fuel to the fire, enjoy

I used to play with BG music while playing Need for Speed and other arcades, but since I play LFS I found out that listening to music hurts my lap times. So I turn it of. LFS requires a lot of concentration, so it's either the music or the game.
LFS Simulation Features

Hi. I wonder if there is anything like a list of all stuf, that LFS simulates. From things like tyre grip, deformation, weight distribution...to details like movement of the fuel in the tank. Is there a list of everything that LFS simulates? Thanks a lot

As the others said already, use WinAMP and Global hotkeys. Maybe you can even map the hotkeys to your wheel. I havn't tried as I don't have a wheel (yet). Does that work? Has anyone tried that?

What you mean is that the LFS license is bound to a specific computer with a specific hardware? If I buy a new computer (let's say) every 3 months, I won't be able to unlock the lincese on the 4th computer? WHY?

Quote from Paranoid Android :You know you've played too much Lfs when:

You try to find the F3 button while watching the Formula 1 Gp...(true story)

This is a good one...and also true. I often look for the quicksave button when watching action movies

Both, I would say. I chose it because of the lyrics, which are Budgie's. But the Metallica's version is better concerning the music.

Maybe you have assigned the pedals to the steering in LFS controls.

Quote from Bob Smith :Incorrect. Check the license agreement. You can only unlock LFS on two machines that you own, for LAN play only (well, and single player, but who bothers with that?).

And if I play on six million computers at the same time with the same license on a private LAN, who will find out? (Please dont tell anyone )
One S2 account on two PCs at the same time

Hi.

I have the S2 license, and two computers at home and I have LFS installed on both of them. More specifically, I have a desktop which I use at home and a notebook, which I use anywhere else. I have LFS on both machines and I wonder, what will happen if I try to play online on both computers at the same time. Will I get my license deleted? Or banned? Or what? I don't want to lose my license (money).

Thanks to anybody who helps.
Names for corners
breadfan
S2 licensed
Do the corners in all of the tracks have any specific names? There is only one that I know and it is called the "T1"

What I mean is that it doesn't have to be a bad idea to name at least the most notorious corners. I've got inspiration for this idea while watching F1 Grand Prix races, where the commentators often name some of the corners.

So how about naming at least some of the corners "officially"?

I personally would call the chicane at Blackwood GP "The SOB" for being T1 and also having the pitlane too close -> often crashes.
