That's the full damage system, we just haven't seen it yet

Quote :Referring to damage specifically, Yamauchi mentioned some details about how damage will work in the game. There will be two types of damage, depending on the car you're driving. For regular production model cars, you'll be able to scuff the paint job, as well as deform specific areas of the cars. For race model cars, like WRC and NASCAR models, damage will be extended to include parts falling off the car during particularly violent shunts.

Quote from Boris Lozac :Someone who has GT5p... how are the wheel rotations done there? Can you adjust it depending on the car or what? Someone just told me it's either always 900 degrees, or it isn't.. what does that mean?

The wheel can always move 900 degrees, but you can adjust how much the front wheels turn on the car
But yeah the F1 car needs way to much lock to turn. The FFB is very heavy on the F1 car as well, relative to the other cars in the game.

Hope they have variable wheel lock in the final game, matched to what the actual car has automaticly.

Pretty hefty damage on a production car, and it was also mechanical as well

In one of the videos from Gamescom, there are wet tyres in the tyre options

and you can see it in the track maker screens on the mid right - clouds with water drops

They haven't revealed everything yet. Might see more at TGS in a few weeks time

Oh yeah - 1 thing that caught my eye in one of the above articles
Quote :Another point worth mentioning as a novelty, is the inclusion of karts, which are also proposed as Yamauchi as the ideal way to start for both beginners and for people who want to achieve total mastery of the game. We have seen up to 32 karts competing in a race. Physics has been recreated exclusively for these cars , and was a key factor in development , both for its importance as involved a detailed study of it. Out of curiosity, I will say that the karts were designed to GT6But then the team decided to include them in Gran Turismo 5.

The DFGT is quieter than the Driving force. The G25 is slightly quieter than the DFGT, but not by much, but the G27 is the best here due to the new gears

Some new tibits - translated, so reads a bit funny

Quote :To top it off , on PSN ! had the opportunity to obtain two unknown data so far. The first, damage cars are not kept in every race , so there will not be repaired . The other data is relative to the slipstream , a problem recognized by the whole community Gran Turismo around the world. We have learned that the slipstream of GT5 Prologue has absolutely nothing to do with that we will see GT5. For the real game , the effect of the hole will be identical to that experienced in reality. We may choose to exaggerate the effect by creating options for courses online, but we can confirm that the tow has been redesigned and will offer behavior in line with reality.

Quote :Will there be weather effects ?

Yes, it is both weather effects such as rain, as well as provide different times of day.

Will there be a LAN - mode?
The answer was hesitant at first , but a LAN mode was not confirmed, but not be totally excluded .

You can open it up and put any 5400/7200rpm 2.5 inch SATA HD in it anyway, up 750GB I think

Yes, 10GB for fastest loading, or 256MB if you don't have the HD space, for slower loading. I guess the 10Gb covers the main program and music etc.

Approximately what's the GT5 install size? I've got a 40GB PS3.

If you have at least 256MB it will work, but if you have 10 GB available you will be able to play comfortably.

Quote from Boris Lozac :I'm thinking of buying that DFGT, anyone has it? Still have my Momo, works great, except the pedals of course, which are spiking offcourse (:grumpy::irked, and i'm really reluctant to open them up again and get all greasy FFS, only to have to do it again the next month. Besides, i can't set up left/right looks on the Momo in the freakin GT5, i can't drive without that..

I have a DFGT.
Feels pretty good, wheel, but somewhat noisey when turning hard and fast. Sounds like drill or straight cut gearbox...
Wheel doesn't turn fast enough for my liking.
FFB is pretty close to the G25, just 1 motor vs 2 on the G25/G27

Pedals are terrible though! Average travel, and soft resistance.
Small buttons on the back for sequential shifting instead of big metal flaps
But cheap and has lots of wheel placed buttons/dials, plus a horn button that works with GT5
And is the official GT5 wheel.

I'd get a G27 - quiet, faster wheel spinning, way better pedals with clutch. Expensive and not enough buttons

I haven't been able to move my DFGT wheel this quickly. And if I move my DFGT that voilently it makes a lot of noise, which kills the immersion!

Logitech make a DFGT+ G27 hybrid!!!!
The G27 shift lights were supported in the Time Trial, and PD do have G27 in their studio

Quote from Boris Lozac :Well if they remain on GT Academy demo level, i will be happy, it was IMO just under LFS level, and since these new videos, where we see proper donuts and cars burning rubber in 2nd and 3rd gear, i'm guessing they are even better.. it definately exceeded my expectations.. not to mention if online works great and we can set up qualifications etc..

You could do proper donuts in the Time Trial, figure 8s and what not, just no smoke or skidmarks
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qv5L-iVsK5U

And according to reports back from Gamescom, force feedback is much improved from the Time Trial

Quote from Furiously-Fast :If they were in GT5, will they be premium or standard vehicles?

Semi premium maybe

Bike don't have as many parts as cars so should be on par with the karts in GT5. Having said that, even the Karts have modelled weld joints...

Finally a track that matches the tempo of the scenery, it actually feels like a video clip for the song
If I ever put some music out, I'd probably use something like GT5 for my video clips

Quote from CoolColJ :I processed this audio file as well, same problems as the one above.
Now the music is normal, but wonky after processing which makes the music smear into the background, but the engine sounds better
Although there is some obvious pitch shifting, but it's not too annoying and chipmunked

Real Jaguar XJ13 to compare. It sounds synthetic in comparison, but I can hear the character in it. The proper GT5 audio should be much more defined based on Alba's kart capture vs the PD's kart video
I just don't like the throttle blips in GT5, they don't start low enough in the rev range and sound distinct enough, but if you using a clutch and H-Pattern you can get around that and do it yourself I suppose

I liked the frayed edges of the skidmarks, but could probably be a bit more faded

Here is a white flag Boris - That guy was driving really slow at that point and the AI was coming up to him. In F1, white flag mean: There is a slow vehicle in the road.

Quote from alba :Uploading a sample of the sounds I recorded (karts) No videos for now, I'll do that tomorrow but at least you get what kind of sounds we got.
Karting sounds
So tomorrow I'll have the hazardous task to edit and synchronize the video & the proper sound and make sure they're as close as possible. Wish me luck, lol.

The phase of one of the Audio channels is inverted after the 10 second mark! Which makes it sound all wonky and smeared

I fixed it by inverting one of the audio channels - much better now!! Though still not 100% right, must be because the cable wasn't plugged in properly.

Also removed the DC offset before doing so, a fair bit too, about 3-4%.
Sound is pretty clipped/distorted though.

http://www.members.optushome.c ... d/GT5_GC_2010_Karting.mp3

Sounds much like the kart clip on PD's site
Good thing - the sound is more in line with what I heard in the Time Trial, no longer has that GT4/GT5:P zing and synthetic pitch shifting tone

Quote from real_tron :Alba has put a sound file of the XJ13 up.

From the guy that went to Gamescon and got to interview Kaz

Quote :We didn't see any evidence of weather, but in his discussion of the Course Maker, Kazunori did include "weather" as one of the available parameters. The sounds have been upgraded - for the first time in 13 years we have a new tyre-slip noise! The 458 Italia in Kaz's demo didn't sound brilliant, but the system was set up for "loud" rather than "quality" - the NASCAR, on the other hand, sounded great even through the pissy little speakers on a mid-size Bravia LCD. I suspect our recording of it might not give the best impression - small microphone and lots of background noise - but it was pretty good. Some of the shadows and reflections, particularly on new tracks but not limited to new cars, were... "unfinished", but we suspect the code is literally a bare-bones demo of the tracks, cars, AI and physics. Wing-mirrors particularly seemed low-res compared even to the rear view mirror.

Quote :Things GT users are often disappointed by are largely out though - sound is improved, smoke is improved, horns and reverse lights work, visible damage begets mechanical damage, AI is waaaaay improved (Kaz believes the AI are equal to human counterparts - in the case of the majority of gamers, he may have a point). The biggest "down" is the lack of standard car cockpits - though they did try to implement the GTPSP variant, spending 2 months on it, after criticism earlier in the year (which is also good news - they listen keenly).

It's GT4 without GT4's faults, with improved graphics, more cars and a frickin' track maker. And 20-25% of the cars have a cockpit view, compared to 0%.
