No comments on the race yet? Maybe it's because I actually got to watch the whole race, but I thought it was pretty good. Of course the threat of rain always makes things interesting. Turn 1 lap 1 looked a lot like a public LFS server, but beyond that there was some good racing.
I was also glad to see that the broadcast crew didn't focus on Danica all the time.
I did like the excitement of the pitstops, especially the way the cars bounced coming off the jackstands.
I didn't think the race was that boring considering the nature of the track. Although with refueling gone and tire preservation is the big story, it was a little discouraging that the tires fared as well as they did. With the high temps and sand blowing on the track, this should have been a killer track on tires. Hopefully they pick compounds for the rest of the races on the soft end of the spectrum.
Oh, that's different than what I thought. The toy ukes seemed to have a thicker string for the bass string. I suppose on a normal uke, the thinner/tighter string for the bass would be to even out tension? In any case, thanks for the info. Makes me want to go buy a proper uke now.
Some friends of ours have some toy ukes around the house. When I've played them I've always tuned them in fourths, like the lowest four strings on a guitar. This thread inspired me to look up the standard tuning, which is apparently the like top four strings (4th,major 3rd,4th) of a guitar. Now that I've learned something I can go home for the day.
I grew up going to Barberton Speedway (an awful track in retrospect) most Saturday nights. I remember Gary Whipkey from back then (25+ years ago :schwitz and I've seen him race with the MERS at Columbus Speedway in the last few years. Could it be the same guy?
In the case of Talladega, the right thing was NOT to back out and let a guy in. Unless the right thing was to let somebody else win. If someone is cutting across your line, you shouldn't back out to keep the guy from wrecking himself.
Everyone worships Dale Sr. because he never gave an inch to anyone. But if a pimple-faced kid drives like that he's a menace. Give Keslowski some zit cream and a soup-strainer mustache, you'd start seeing #12 stickers on the back of pickup trucks.
I for one was deeply offended. If you're not going to pull a Brandi Chastain and remove some clothing, at least have a no-holds-barred pillow fight at center ice.
Here the latest acceptable term is "African-American." I've even seen some American newscasters refer to a black man from another country (Lewis Hamilton for example) as an African-American, which clearly, he is not.
I've always wondered if there are similar terms in other countries, such as "African-Norwegian" or "Afro-Franco."
All of this has been said before, so I hesitate to jump in...
There are a lot of frustrated people in the forum, and that's understandable. But if every LFS license holder stomps off and never plays again, that costs the devs exactly $0. I suspect even the people who are fed up and have said they "will never race again" will buy S3 if/when it comes out.
This great race sim that we'll all so passionate about is the hobby of three talented people. If you want a race sim from a large commercial development company, there are lots of other options.
Yep, there was a caution with 5 to go (or so, I can't remember exactly) which took them into G/W/CH territory. Guys couldn't make it one lap into the G/W/CH so the caution came out all that was it.
I have a weird/dumb question. I want to give the leader on lap 2 a drive through penalty (odd, I know) using lapper. I thought I could do it by adding a few conditions to the OnLap event.
Event OnLap() # Player event # DT stuff follows IF ( $Pos == "1") THEN IF ( $LapsDone == "2" ) THEN cmdLFS( "/p_dt " . GetCurrentPlayerVar("Username") ); ENDIF ENDIF EndEvent
It doesn't seem to work. Can someone enlighten me?
I like rallycross a lot, in fact the Winter Beater Cup is half RX tracks. I'd like to see something like Race Center, but all RX. Unfortunately LFS doesn't have that many RX tracks to choose from.
I agree 100%. Unfortunately there's the issue with PAL-8 textures and newer video cards. Makes me want to build an old spec PC just to play this game again.
... and we appreciate your efforts! That was a great place to race. Certainly nobody can begrudge you getting a life and going outside once in a while.
You can't expect people to admin live forever for free. So we're left with automated idiot filters, i.e. insim apps. In my experience, LFS is the only sim where there's any kind of pickup racing happening. Iracing is apparently all pickup racing, and that's because their entire system is an automated idiot filter.
Maybe the need for these systems now is a statement on the player community, but there's not much anyone can do to change that.
