Quote from MadCatX :And that's just one of many. The 9V battery trick is stupid on so many levels that I believe that no one will ever dare to try it.

Stupid? possibly, but it is true.

belgium, many times, to go racing at a place called warneton, just over the french border near lille, and a place in holland called marienvelde, again, to go racing, but on the dirt that time, then to germany once, somewhere right near the border with holland, which was for the prize giving weekend, again related to the banger racing, my mate won lots that year, so we got an invite to the evening lol

thats about all, quite boring i guess.

I havent started my project yet, which is to be resurrecting my broken mazda, but first i need to save some money up so i can start, it needs:

A new clutch, possibly a gearbox as well, 2 rear springs, new brakes all round, another set of alloys, a new speedo convertor (if it isnt that thats broken then i will need that new gearbox) all the bodywork sorted out, flaky paint fixed, a full respray, then an mot and tax, then she'll be finished!

Well i have always had hay fever, but thats about all.

It was definately a mozzy that did it tho, sneaky little b@stard was buzzing around being all proud of himself that he had 2 bites out of me, until one of my trainers squished him against the wall, the wall took some cleaning, as you can imagine.

I see you have my future wife in your avatar j@tko, cher lloyd <3

Insect bites, anyone with expertise on this??

Before anyone says, yes, i have googled first, but nothing i can find answers my questions properly.

Basically, i got bit by a gnat or mosquitoe at some point on sunday, once on my arm and once on my hand, and i have quite some reaction to it, which i have never happened before.

My finger has swollen up to nearly twice its normal size and i cannot bend my middle finger as the bite is right on my knuckle, and the rest of the back of my hand is swollen and very itchy, and is also red all the way upto my wrist.

The other one, which is at the top of my arm is slightly less annoying as it isnt on a bendy bit of me, but this one is reacted even worse, the bite itself, and about 1 inch all the way around it is bright angry red/purple colour and kinda blotchy and swollen, but painful to touch as well, thats the kind of epicentre of it, about four inches all the way around the outside of that part is also a lighter red and very itchy too, although its not that easy to see due to terrible light balance on my phones camera, for those that do look, the redness goes down to about half way thru the tattoo on the arm bite.

As mentioned, i have added pics but not put them in tags as it doesnt look that pleasant, so click if you wish and please tell me, does this look normal for a trivial mozzy bite??

Quote from 91mason91 :It's a 2.9L V6 xr4x4

Are they? I always thought XR4x4s ran the same 2.8 (2792cc) cologne V6 as the mk2 granada and mk3 capri had in.

I always thought that the revised 2.9 lump was only fitted in the mk3 granada/scorpio (which is a big sierra anyway ) never knew that sierras had it also.

You live and learn i guess lol

Quote from DeKo :I have yet to see a Motherboard without a standard IDE port, it would be completely crazy as most DVD drives still use IDE. Just plug the old HD in, you can even have it on the same cable as the DVD drive if its allready in use.

Thats exactly how i transferred all the stuff from my old IDE HDD from my old PC, as my new one has a SATA HDD but an IDE DVD drive, but as i only have 1 cable with one socket and 1 DVD drive (small form factor case, tiny tiny ) i simply unplugged my DVD drive, plugged old HDD in, turned it on, copied files over, shut it down, re plugged the DVD drive in again and job done!

Quote from Becky Rose : It is an auto-immune disease which attacks your body's defences against infection, consequently many victims of the disease actually die of other illnesses such as colds which the body is unable to fight against (medicines bolster your body's defences rather than replace them) which can result in death from pneumonia.

Indeed, pneumonia (or an aids related complication as they called it) took away the most legendary and talented rock frontman of all time.

New coilpack for the astra, after it died on a roundabout, i had owned the car for 4 days.

And then this, a rocker cover gasket.

It was a little leaky and i thought that removing and re sealing the original worn gasket would help , but it made it worse, and when i got to work one morning there was smoke coming out of the grille, and upon opening the bonnet, imagine my surprise to see that the majority of the exhaust manifold was on fire, not good.

He had nothing on earmelon.

Anyway, on topic...

4 or 5 years old now, so not new by the 'scenes' standards, but still a good 'un and still used at events these days as well.

Going from memory, if any crack or stone chip measures larger than 1/2" (13mm) accross and is within the sweep of the window wipers then it is an instant fail, even if it is directly behind the rear view mirror so it cannot be seen when sat in the drivers seat (as happened to me once) unless of course they dont notice it, which is doubtful.

I still dont have one, but did meet up with a lady from my past by chance at my mates wedding yesterday, we were kinda the ross and rachael of our school in some ways, albeit quite a bit younger (if you didnt watch friends you wont understand that bit but never mind) always kind of on and off as a couple and also best friends, although to be fair this was between the ages of about 8 and 15 so nothing too serious relationship wise really.

We always vowed to stay in contact but inevitably lost touch about 7 or 8 years back when she moved away, but unbeknown to me she moved back to ely about 2 years ago and i never knew, i have had her on FB for a while but just kinda presumed she was still miles away, nearly fell off my feet last night when i walked into that wedding reception to see her stood there, never expected to see her, not in a million years.

She was with her other half, who i had never met before but she she seems a nice woman (she has had relationships with both boys and girls over the years you see) and we all had a good old drink together and it was a brilliant night.

The funniest bit being when she nearly fell over (due to being pissed) and i ended up catching her, and as i did so i whispered into her ear in a kinda jokey way, but tinged with some truth a bit "god i wish you were single, i've missed you" and she then whispered back, "give me your number and i'll give you a call when i am" before giving me the most cheeky grin i have ever seen, which was nice.

The astra, in fantastic condition considering its age.

I have named it jo, because of the number plate, and as i also have an ex gf called jo, XJO kinda made me laugh when i turned up to buy it.

All i have done so far is put my CD player in there, meshed the front grille and put the alloys off the mx-5 on it.

Its done hardly any miles either, that over 17 years, thats not even 5k a year!

The gearbox is OK, its just the clutch by the looks of it, as i now have another car to tide me over, the 5 was in the way where it was, so after pushing it back a bit i tried something, i managed to get 1st gear with the engine off, so i turned the key with it in 1st and it moved!

So i kept it moving, steered around the small fence and went over to the left, then turned her off, got reverse, started her again and trundled back while turning it so its now at the end of the driveway but crossways alongside the garden shed which makes it easier to get other cars in and out.

It now has a tarpaulin over it and awaits attention whilst i save up some money!
