Quote from misu2048 :I have a question Scawaen. Do you use premade tools for making maps, if so, what tools do you use, or do you use your own program? Thanks in advance. Also, loving the track so far! I can't wait to try it out. It will probably feel nice to drive on something new.

Scawen has indicated that he's written his tools from scratch. Lots of mentions of adding tools to make Erics life easier when building content.

Quote from Scawen :Without going into details, I don't think the access roads are only for cruisers.

This is the rally pack that Tor has wanted!

As for the Rift, I've never been a fast driver (nor really wanted to be), but the Rift is extremely interesting to me because I feel it will give me an experience that nothing else can. It could make me faster by giving me a more accurate "presence" in the world (rather than feeling disconnected by FOV).

It's something that's bothered me in all racing sims, is I either have a super wide FOV which gives no feeling of speed, or a super narrow FOV which makes me feel like I can't see anything horizontally. I've tried with 3 screens, but that loses the vertical FOV as well. I think that the Rift does solve both of those problems. I just have been waiting for CV1 to actually purchase one.

Quote from cargame.nl :VR.. I still need to come across the first person who is actually is going to be fast with that Rift. If racers are not just as fast or faster with such a device then it has not much value.

Except the goal of the Rift is for immersion, not to make people "faster". It's about providing a realistic perspective into a virtual world, which the Rift does achieve quite well (better than any device before it).

The art style is really really cool! Reminds me of Borderlands a lot. I'll give it a DL.

Niki, it's not worth trying to formulate a coherent response to blatant trolling. Ray seems to be on a warpath lately of trolling everything that isn't iRacing.

He'll get what's coming to him. The trolls always do.

So, how is PHP garbage? It has all of the same features of most common languages. Namespacing, classes, reflection, late static binding, inheritance, traits, etc...

The most commonly used PHP things are trash (Wordpress, Drupal, etc), but PHP as a language is perfectly fine.

Hey, those 2 turns of a fictional track will still be more realistic than iRacing.

I would think the current longitudal (I think?) g-force might be a better indication. if >= 0, shift up, if < 0, shift down If stationary, use brake/throttle position as up/down indicator

I don't care about what anyone chooses to use as control but apparently some people can't stomach that someone can use mouse and keys to control a car in a game.

No, people can't stomach that you're bashing a sim based on MOUSE driving.
It has hidden assistance for MOUSE and KEYBOARD, underline it cause someone could misread that.
Get a freakin wheel, if you're into simming then it's a must have, it costs just the same as one of those gaming mice.

Btw, still hating this new forum.. Where the hell is multi-quote.

To be a bit on topic, me having fun in a Monaco conversion. Honestly, good enough..

I dunno how you reckon a gaming mouse is the same cost as a wheel. A decent wheel is $300, where a decent gaming mouse is like $80

Quote from Bose321 :He should be happy that his AMD CPU didn't catch on fire.

I'm more surprised that his parents haven't shut his computer off for the 3kW PSU that his AMD CPU requires (to still run 4 times slower than a i5)

It's disappointing that you have a bad computer?

Do you go to a restaurant and complain because you showed up with a headache?

Well to be honest, his response after being told "no you can't" wasn't really appropriate, especially using vulgarities. I don't really know what he expects from a racing simulator. Using a nearly 20 year old game as rationale for this "perfectly legitimate" inquiry doesn't make a strong argument either.

20 years ago a joystick may have only had 1 or 2 buttons, so the decision to use 1 button for both gear changes makes a bit of sense. It's an absolutely ridiculous request in modern time, where even $20 wheels have at least a handful of buttons at fingers reach

Then OP got upset and used vulgarities over the perfectly well formed and rational response to the question. Instead of asking for help with accomplishing his desired (ridiculous) objective, he chose to take the non-constructive route and just curse about it.

Quote from mrodgers :Ah.... wouldn't they be African-British in London rather than African-American?

Realistically, wouldn't they simply be "British"? Why does "Black" === "African"? African American isn't really accurate, it's just people being hesitant of calling someone "Black".

Agreed about Nico, but I don't think he will ever be at the Hamilton/Ricciardo/Alonso level when it comes to wheel-to-wheel racing.

I think he is hurting because the great Mercedes build their F1 race cars in Brackley, England.

Also probably not the best year to say that given the nationalities of the F1, GP2, GP3, F2 and WEC champions.

We didn't let anyone else have a look in with regard to the Junior and Senior KF World Champs either.

We? Were you personally involved?

Intrepid knows every KARTOR personally so he can say that he contributed to all the KARTOR success in all of the UK. Thus making the KARTOR success his. Louis Hamilton was also a KARTOR which makes Intrepid also a F1 champion because they share KARTOR blood.

They want to have their cake and eat it too. They want to sell a $60 game while benefiting from micro transactions for core game functionality. I wouldn't be surprised to see within the next year or two a AAA game from Ubisoft or EA make a section of the same so impossibly hard that you actually cannot beat it without a microtransaction cheat.

I still wouldn't spend $100 on a CS:GO skin though. I've only spent about $5 on stickers for various guns. Now a nice $60 courier on the other hand...

Quote from JazzOn :Well, can you blame them? It's quite audacious what they try, but if the consumers buy into the hype, its hard to blame them for trying.

Talking about microstransaction coming to boxed games, did you know there are skins in CS:GO (I believe it was), that go around for $100, or soemthing like this?

Except that's the marketplace, that's not actually priced by Valve. They're $100 because people value them that high, not because Valve is selling them for that expensive. In fact, you can't buy skins. They are only dropped from crates.

Nevermind that CS:GO can be bought most weeks for like $10 because it's consistently on sale.
