Quote from Osco :how about you give up on video games? virtual water scares you, playing Portal makes you sick?
you get motion sickness in LFS too?

Nah, LFS is OK for me (although I am fairly crap at it ). Seriously though, that water traumatised me as a little kid (And Portal is OK again, I think it was the long stint combined with no breakfast or lunch :shrug

I dunno, I played Resi on the PS1 just fine, I got to about half way through and gave up on a puzzle (plus that had water with a HUGE shark and I was fine :shrug. It's just something about TR. Epic games though

Quote from sam93 :Can someone upload the 32 bit version please. Put it as a torrent so the rest of us can get it aswell please. Wont to try it as I have a spare hard drive to install it on.

Quote from Luke.S :Yeah could someone put the 64 Bit version one up too? It won't start downloading for me.

Just check out some pirate sites (don't shoot me, no links ), it's legal to download them without a crack. When I got mine there was both a 32 bit and 64 bit available, with decent ratios.

Quote from gezmoor :If you're running Vista you can use the built in disc management to repartition your existing drive and create a new partition where you can install a second OS. Not sure how happy Windows 7 will be to co-exist with Vista it might mess up Vistas version of the MBR (called something else but I forget what) and you might have trouble if/when you want to remove Windows 7 from your machine.

Otherwise if you have XP you'll need a copy of a partitioning software to safely partition your exising hard drive.

I wouldn't chance putting 7 on the same HDD as anything important (like, an OS), as it has given a fair few people problems formatting and corrupting the HDD it's put on. Safest is a new, clean HDD or a VM

Running it in a VM now (I don't have another HDD), and it looks nice enough. I didn't even want to install it on a partition in case it ruins my entire system

It does just seem like Vista with a new theme though. I know a VM won't give a true measure of performance, but it's only slightly faster. It is starting to look a bit more "OSX"-y though, with the "seamless" toolbar and all that crap. It doesn't even look that good

Quote from S14 DRIFT :How come Rob? What's so bad about the water in TR that it gets you freaked out?

Pretty funny fear, though. Not scared of spiders or snakes.. scared of water in a video game.

It was them friggin crocodiles from TR1 I reckon, I was like 6 when I started playing that game (in between bouts of Rayman and FF7 :rolleyes. I literally shat brix on the Cistern level, which was made out of crocodiles and rats (I also have a pationate dislike for spiders IRL. Snakes are cool though )

Quote from P5YcHoM4N :Is Croft Manor any better than it is in Legend? Because it is one of the worst I have played in, no outside maze or anything.

It gets torched in the first level

Quote from CasseBent :you know there is such a thing as hydrophobia, right? Not that I'm sure this is it, but it sounds pretty cool.

I'm not hydrophobic (unfortunately, that has to be the coolest sounding phobia ever, like some kind of Japanese monster ), I have no problem with water IRL. In most games I don't, either. It's just the TR series gets me

Quote from S14 DRIFT :I remember the TR series vividly. I spent many a happy hour at my PC in my formative years playing TR. My faviroutes were TR2 on the PC, TR3 on the PS1 (or PS2, can't remember what it was, was that long ago ) and TR:Chronicles on PC.

Ah yes, I had Chronicles too, that was pretty good. Not as good as TR1, but still a damn good game

Right, got TR: Underworld today, but I'm unable to even start the second level due to me being scared shitless of water after TR1 The second I hit the water I instantly Alt+F4'ed I've tried 3 times since then, but the furthest I got was actually diving. Then it's just blue sea all around and I get ascared (same thing happened watching "open water", but I managed to not have a panic attack in the cinema) I'll probably do it later by playing some music at the same time, but it's really too bad to do now...

Apart from that, this is my first TR since 1, which I almost completed. I also had Angel of Darkness for PS2, which was average at best

So, post your TR experiences in here

My driving theme song? A Yaris at 5,000 revs

(I also like Arctic Monkeys and Fall Out Boy while driving, but usually the Yaris drowns it out :shy

Any alternate download locations for the beta? Even if I download a leaked version, will my evaluation key still unlock it? (Sorry for bringing up warez, I do have a valid evaluation key though, but the MS download won't start for me )

That's my major problem with 64-bit. Until they find a way of porting all 32-bit drivers into 64-bit, only half the hardware you get will actually work. I literally have a stack of hardware that just won't work with 64-bit Vista, yet works fine with 32-bit XP.

Apart from that, Vista isn't all that bad. People complain about it's performance, but I haven't seen any difference between it and XP on both my gaming PC, and my laptop (1GB RAM, 1.5Ghz dual core) I will be getting 7 when it comes out though, mainly to have an excuse to "downgrade" to 32-bit

Or not...

Open the solution (.sln) in Visual Studio, and Form1.cs will be on the right. Right click on it, and view code. That'll bring up the code for Form1. Then edit away, and press F6 to save and rebuild

If you just want to edit text, notepad will do you fine, as you can open up the code, edit what you like and rebuild. But if you were planning to add/remove things it would definitely be worth downloading a proper IDE, like Visual Studio, which you have.

After you've edited whatever you like in Visual Studio, just press F6 and it'll re-compile the whole thing for you, and overwrite the EXE in bin/release

I have a Microsoft Specialist certification, not sure where it differs to the MS Certification. My exam was based in Office though, so it was quite easy As far as I know it costs a fair bit to do it, I entered as part of a Microsoft schools competition though, so I got it for free (and subsequently got through to the Nationals and won a Xbox 360 )

I'm (hopefully) going to England to buy a car next summer, if by some stroke of luck this coincides with the weekend I go over (if I can, I'll pick the same weekend), count me in. Otherwise it's unlikely at the moment

Yay, PC Gamer helped me find an epilepsy inducing game, which I don't get sick playing Linky - I really wouldn't recommend a couple of hours of it though

I'd imagine a 2Ghz CPU would be more of a bottleneck than the GPU to be honest, LFS isn't very picky on graphics I'm not saying a new card isn't necessary (by God it is, by today's standards :razz, but a higher clocked CPU would have a much more noticeable improvement IMO...

Quote from danthebangerboy :The main thing though, are you feeling well enough now to drink lager? Thats the priority!

Seriously though, i used to feel better after maybe 2 hours or so, you should be good to go by now.

Lager? Nah, could drink that in my sleep

I used to get terrible pains in my right eye for no apparent reason, I still get them occasionally. The only answer was to sleep on that side of my face for an hour or so, and it'd go away

Anyway, I got a couple of bites to eat, and it seems to be fine again. Now to get the Portal expansion pack

Umm, I don't have epilepsy, and I don't suffer from prolonged computer use problems (Having once spent over 24 hours solid with no side effects, I think I can rule that out!), plus I was only on for a couple of hours. It's just weird, it's never happened me before

^^ I think it is motion sickness. I used to get really sick travelling by sea or in the back of a car. I also had that problem with my CRT monitor, had to drop the resolution to get better refresh rates. It was even worse as it's my second monitor, so I was looking at it out of the corner of my eye...
