As a separate question, the demo races are never more than 3 or 4 laps long. Is that also a restriction?

Well, I was mainly saying it as a means to the end of stopping corner cutting. That said, I guess you have a point. People who enjoy autocross could be thrown a bone demowise too. Maybe just the option to load layouts rather than edit them.

haha, I didn't know that. I guess that's part 2 of my suggestion then.

There's too much speed advantage with cutting those corners IMHO.

Gonzihere, I get where you are coming from. It is fun to have a close race with someone on a par with your own skill. That said, from what I can see (correct me if I'm wrong) is that you want to handicap people that come on lots and can do well because you're a casual gamer. Which, I think will go down like a cup of cold sick. All those people at one point did times that you do but worked on it.

I'm pretty sure people are still signing up to other long term games like World Of Warcraft etc, despite people already being there for some years and having the advantage of experience, epic level mages or whatever it is they have. You also need to be sure that getting good in the "Boring hatchback" enables you to be better when you get onto other cars.

Personally, I go in the Cargame.nl S1 room at the moment because it is multiclass, uses an experience rating system where you can work your way into having other cars. Also has other tracks apart from Blackwood and also layouts/modifications that aren't on the default single player. (especially with Fern Bay)

Now, seriously:

I agree that high tire force should cause damage.

Besides, as Skagen has mentioned, aggressive cutting / bump riding should cause serious suspension damage, much more than what we see now. This is probably more important than the tire issue.

I agree with this also.

I don't see the logic in dropping drivers who score point and podiums for a driver you had before, who was a bit rubbish (In the comparative scheme of things).

This is my first video using the LFS Record program (so it's not a video masterpiece). The incident happened in a demo server race some time back. Amused me at the time.

I have no idea why there is a random flash at the start of it

That logic would stand up if the amount of races hadn't increased before Nigel Mansell got the record. Nobody's claiming it's a 100% like for like record as the qualifying format is different, the car rules are different, the tracks are different and likely many other factors.

The demo races are only 3 to 5 laps long, so it's not the end of the world if you get shunted off. I think people generally cry about it a little too much and sometimes the incidents in the first few turns can be quite funny (well to me). I've also found that learning to avoid the carnage and staying out of trouble, if practiced enough, can gain you places because a fair of the faster drive have their setups rigged up so much on the edge that they often fly off, the minute they go off their racing line. Plus, people overtaking, need to remember that the peripheral vision on LFS is not the same as in a car, so it's better to give consideration to that. Especially to people doing 1.19 round blackwood demo circuits.

Maybe it's just luck but I've never found it as bad as some people post on here
