Quote from GFresh :Off Topic forum, why the hell not

Because the topic by definition became invalid as soon as the event finished. There is no attempt to create interesting discussion (as most of the replies will attest to). He was asking a real-time question. This is more suited to chat than a forum.
Off Topic only means that discussions don't have to be on a specific theme, not that topics don't need to have proper content.

Quote from Jonas8431 :if you don´t like the thread, dont post it

That would be a valid point if I said something like 'Dubai Masters suz0rs'. I was questioning the legitimacy of this as a topic, not the subject matter.

Quote from The Moose :Indeed, give the guy a break...

I didn't flame, I made a suggestion and moved on. While I concede that I may have exited my bed from the wrong side yesterday (and perhaps today), I'm becoming frustrated at the number of nonsensical topics (not just in Off Topic) that add nothing to the community. I believe there are are others of the same opinion too.

[/rant], and I won't post anything more in this thread as I feel I've made my point. Have a good day everyone and PEACE.

The problem with the elevation changes is they're way too bumpy, and you get airborne hitting a simple freeway ramp at 90mph.

Overall the game has it's moments but is focussed on it's online modes. I would only consider getting it on 360. It's definitely suited to the couch (and I heard that the PC version need Colosuss to run properly).

You know what? The people with brains would have cleared the area as soon as fans started rushing the barrier. All the people who got hit by the coppers had rushed the barrier and wanted to punch on with fans from the other team. Common sense tells you that you're putting yourself in danger doing this.

This doesn't justify the police actions, but there were some very dumb people there who wanted violence and ended up on the receiving end of it.

I downloaded a texture pack and some skins today. It make LFS such a more beautiful game.
Full credit to Electrik Kar (textures) and TeazR (skins). These guys are awesome.

Quote from JTbo :Try this one

There is also one shop selling it in NZ, but don't know if that is any good for you.

But I want it NOW.
Seriously though, thanks for looking that up for me. I've considered getting an Ebay copy, I just wish that distributor would make more games downloadable. Especially older games.

I'd love to buy this game, but it is nowhere to be found in the retail outlets here.

I wish you buy and download it online...

Quote from GFresh :Look at the times the violence kicked off during the Man Utd game, it was when feelings were at their peak, when a goal was scored

Perhaps that's one reason football is afflicted by violence more than other sports. The fact that it's very low scoring, and one goal is such a huge moment in the game makes the yobbos lose control.

Most other sports are higher scoring, and one goal isn't as important. Still, it's no excuse.

Hooliganism seems like a form of demented extreme patriotism. I total can't understand why football gets it so badly though, and other sports don't.

Perhaps it goes back to the same sort of thing that keeps age old international (and domestic) conflicts happening, there is an ingrained culture of hatred for the opposition, but nobody can really remember where it all started...

It's a very difficult thing for us non europeans to understand. We're passionate about our teams too, but have never rioted like that.

Good points Becky.
Yes, most of the guns are wildly inaccurate passed 10m or so. Especially after you get the inevitable exploded ball in the chamber.
I have only 1 point to add:
  • Put your paintballs in the freezer the night before

Quote from johnfromsunnymull :does anyone have any screen shots of Call Of Duty 3 for the PS3 or games that are similar? thanks

John, the interweb is choc full of screenshots of PS3 games. It would be a lot faster to use Google than waiting for an answer here.

Anyone ever thought of compiling the greatest LFS edits in to a DVD slideshow? You know, with a music score and all.
I might give it a whirl if there's interest...

Quote from Nathan_French_14 :Fair enough, but i would'nt of wanted to be your wallet when you bought a 360. All im saying is just try having the PS3 for a few days (maybe borrow of a freind) BTW, it was my dad's wallet that got shot ^^

Well my wallet has AU$400 more in it than erm... your dad's.
I'm really glad you like your PS3 but as has been suggested, you need to back up your rants with facts rather than just saying things like:
"on PS3, lag does'nt exist in it's dictionary"
There are many factors at play in network performance. Simply saying that the PS3 doesn't lag online is utter rubbish and just makes you look like a rampant fanboy.

Quote from Nathan_French_14 :dude, do you own a 360, because it sounds like you do but seriously, this is the best money i have ever spent on a console ever. Look up videos of it and reviews, then come back here before you start blapping ya mouth off.

Yeah I do have a 360 actually. To tell you the truth I'm a little disappointed with it so far, seeing only incremental upgrades in graphics and physics, and nothing new in terms of gameplay. I'm not a fanboy. I've
I've also seen dozens of PS3 'videos and reviews' of 'it' and have even played Resistance briefly.

So far for the PS3, we've seen some 360 games re-released with bugger all improvements (even in graphics) despite the extended development time.
We've seen a decent arcade racer in Motorstorm with an average review rating in the low 80s, and a generic FPS that offers nothing new to the genre.

If you think that is "is the best money i have ever spent on a console ever", then that's fine, I'm just glad I'm not your wallet.

EDIT -
Quote from Nathan_French_14 :Also, another reason the PS3 games are so much is because they have had a new feature not found in any other consoles, it's called Blue-Ray, which is an advanced reading system on the disc, basically, it is able to let the laser read the info of the disc MUCH faster, and MUCH smoother.

Really? :P

I think that anyone who has just forked out a grand $AU for a games console is going to say nice things about it. They don't want to make themselves think that they've wasted a lot of money.

Quote from tristancliffe :Nope - I'm in that boat. I must confess I did find an F1 race boring about three years ago, and actually fell asleep (sacrilege, I know), but the vast majority is edge of the seat stuff for me - just watching the cars, the drivers taming them, listening to the engine, spotting the technical stuff (comparing cambers between drivers), watching braking points and all the little nuances etc is awesome.

BTCC (for example) is racing for stupid beer-drinkers who think a big crash and sharing paint (and whole panels) makes for good entertainment... I'm quite well entertained without that. I'll give in and admit that for absolute excitement MotoGP still tops F1 though, but I don't follow MotoGP much between the races - it doesn't capture my imagination like F1 does.

As usual Tristan, you make a really good point, then follow it up with a really crap one that undoes all your good work.

I totally agree with you on F1. I love watching the races for the reasons you outlined. However touring car racing is not just for the entertainment yobbos. Racing very close together in cars less equipped for the purpose promotes a different skill set which is to be admired also. The fact that it ends in a crash more often than F1 does not degrade from it.

There is no way I would want to have to put up with the inevitable picky nob who has nothing better to do with their time than drive around a RL track in LFS, find faults and report them on the forum, then whinge that there is no way you should be able to cut the chicaine at T3 as much as you can, and claim that LFS's physics is crap because the lap record in an RB4 is 0.7 seconds faster than the real life lap record in a Celica GT set in 1995.
That would happen too. Some people in here are like that.

The Devs would be crazy to put real life tracks in to LFS for this reason alone.

I on the other hand think it would be great if they created fantasy tracks inspired by RL ones.
