This would be beneficial also from an SEO perspective. The last time I checked the search industry agreed on that a page that change often is likely to be more frequently visited by search engines. Which consequently can lead to a boost in page rank.
I did a quick look at the posts, words frequently used are "racing" and "sim". So such an addition could make sense. But I suppose the "Community" LFS News should be differentiated from the "official" LFS News somehow.
Edit: After this statement a "follow us on twitter" (or whatever) link would be relevant, also?
On the "Click here for your Steam keys" page there is a discouraging paragraph:
But trading is in fact officially legit!
If anyone missed it, there was quite a debate regarding trading/gifting individual keys (rather than gifting a complete bundle) a couple of months ago.
As a result, HB updated their terms of policy and even implemented a gift button for each individual Steam key.
OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz, 3401 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s) Total Physical Memory 16,0 GB Adapter Description NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti
Fox 13, must be a novelty channel, right? The way they present the news (especially the voice of the narrator and what they stress) reminds me of, well, Cops. Moreover, they detail the shooter. The Cynical Brit highlights the problem with that and similar issues in a good way.
Well, what first comes to mind is firewall configuration.
Configure your firewall to DROP or REJECT all incoming requests FROM the offending IP(s) or IP-range(s).
LIMIT the number of NEW connections (to the targeted port(s)).
Configure your firewall to DROP or REJECT incoming UDP requests TO the targeted UDP port(s) (not a good idea if you have vital servers listening on any given port/interface.
Hard to give any practical advice with the little amount of information given.
You are likely to be given more advice if you provide information regarding your issue (circumstances, firewall software, extent of the attack, etc).
Thanks for the advice, everyone. Really appreciate it!
I've decided to bin/gift everything that doesn't work in my current rigs and, obviously, everything that is way old (CBA to sell stuff for just a couple of bucks, even though it'd surely add up).
Also I decided to keep only one or two copies of stuff that I've got many of (computer power cables, for example -- 10+. Sheesh!).
Yes, I'm aware that I'm privileged and perhaps "not one to to speak", if that's your point (because I'm not quite sure).
Thanks for highlighting my point of view though -- That the discussions in Sweden, as well as the one in this thread, are important.
I'm sorry (and a bit suprised) if you took offence.
I hear ya. I never meant to take a stance in the discussion regarding foreign/migrant workers, though. Sorry if I did. But that matter (politics), and the matter of racism (ideology), are two separate things in my point of view.
Bottom line:
I know now that I've might have jumped in at the deep end with my comments. I must admit I did not give them a lot of thought. But I think that's just how I am. I go by my gut. I'm not well-read enough to get into the hardcore political discussion but I do trust my instincts when it comes to spotting prejudice and a-hole behavior.
Though I'm not perfect. I've got lots to learn. That's why I'm thankful these discussions crop up (edit: and I obviously do not mind when someone (in this case, the LFS forum moderators) stands up for what also I happen to think is right).
Haha, you got me! The fact that, in Chrome, the "text" was a bit mis-aligned gave it away.
Nice one!
Wasn't planning to post in this thread but since y'all got me started -- In the last election in Sweden an absurd, right-wing party made it into government. Since then, and especially during the last year the discussion about racism really took off. Which, without taking sides, is a good thing. It allows people to actually think about what they think, say and how they act.
To me, it's not just about the blunt, full on racism. It's also about the small things, such as the comment that Scawen acted upon.
FWIW, I support Scawen's (and co's?) initiative to bite such behaviour in the bud.
Kind of hard to say what movies to mention since I'm not sure which movies you made but here's the ones that was posted at liveforspeed.se at some point (could be relevant, I guess):
