Are you sure it wasn't a naughty smile, amp?

Oh, BTW, I like that spam filter (I like them all, actually).

F1's have a reverse gear, but AFAIK they're not allowed (or weren't, at least) to use it on the track or in the pits, except in case of emergency. Mansel was black flagged (in 89) because he used it in the pits (and then he didn't see the black flag and kept going).

I find it nice to have some wind, personally. But I think "high wind" is too much (at least in SS). Not only it causes many crashes, but it also reduces the points everyone is getting, because sometimes it can cost everybody up to two seconds per lap.

And in fact, when the race switches to a track with high wind, people often vote to end the race immediately to force it to switch again. So I'd suggest limiting the wind to off and low.

Quote from Dru :trouble is it is clear that the SS2 will help the 'better' racers and i mean that nicely have better races becuase there are less 'bad' drivers on the track

Well, that's the point, isn't it? Your first goal is to get in Nat B to be assured clean races (hopefully), and then you want to keep getting up the rank to get a faster car.

OK, Daisy it is, then! And you can call me Flip (or Philippe for fast typists).

Quote from PLAYLIFE :I understand I can't submit now?

Yes you can. File the report from the LFS server; it will be stored but not submitted to CTRA admins. Then go to the myCTRA page on the website, and submit it from there.

Sounds great, Becky.

FWIW, I'm seeing errors in the http://www.raceauthority.com/myctra/editreport.asp page. See the attached screenshot.

I first thought Sam was working on it, but 5 or 6 hours later the errors are still there. In case it matters, it's a report that hasn't been submitted yet.

Quote from Linsen :I don't know how their stats are worked out, but it seems strange that there are 932 winners in 804 events .

Multi-class races?

Quote from obsolum :Tweaking your setup is something you do either offline or on an empty server IMO. You can always make a few simple adjustments after a race, but if you really want to create a whole new setup or do some serious tweaking then it shouldn't be on a packed server.

Little tweaks, like fine tuning your braking force or wings, may take a few tries. My point was that if you manage to stay half a lap from the pack and never cause any trouble, there's no reason to prevent you from telepitting several times.

Quote from Becky Rose :The funny thing is, out of curiosity I had a look at that 'other' large race licence authority, and they had 804 events compared to our 700 or so. Thing is, their total is lifetime and they started before us...

Maybe they're running longer races? Anyway, I don't care about other race license authorities. The CTRA SS is a dream come true.

I also think that the current race distance is fine.

And I also agree that the racing standards have greatly improved in the last few days. There are still some people who obviously don't know the combo and should practice offline a bit before joining, but much less than before. I guess the "novelty effect" is wearing out, if you see what I mean.

The new mid-race joining restriction seems to help a lot, too. It has only one inconvenient, IMO: now that you can telepit and go back out only once, it's no longer possible to tweak your setup while practicing. Maybe it would be possible to consider the number of yellow flags the driver triggered in the current race and allow them to telepit more than once as long as the number of flags remains under a certain threshold?

@Dru: don't worry about the time you'll need to reach nat B, mate. With the fastest guys on SS2, you'll score points much faster. It shouldn't take you much more than a few day, IMO.

@Becky and Sam: thanks a lot again for your hard work and congratulations about the great skills you're demonstrating!

Quote from Becky Rose :I took a look at the replay folder, and it seems we're running over 5000 races a week, thats over 700 races PER DAY on the CTRA system . Now that's a cool stat that i'm actually quite proud of .

Wow, amazing! Congratulations! Well done figuring out the crashing bug, too.

Quote from obsolum :This may be a little off topic but since we're talking about the replays and submitting reports, are you guys aware that the download link sent to your email address doesn't work if you click it? At least it doesn't for me.

Strange, they work fine for me.

Thank you! But there's still a problem: if the event occurred say at 22:00, the replay will be available in the drop-down menu for only two hours. I think it'd be very handy to also have a simple text field where one could type the name of the replay. If it's found on the server, fine. If it isn't, then it's too late or the user mistyped the replay's name.

Thanks for listening anyway!

Quote from BruTaLysT :Still, are you planning to make your tool more versatile?

Yes, I'm compiling ideas and thoughts about the next version. But I have no idea when I'll have time to really work on it, because the only time I could spare at the moment would have to be taken from racing. So there will be a new version, but don't expect it in the next few weeks.

And I'm glad you guys like FlipCams!

Quote from Becky Rose :During this debug cycle i'll be removing the report submit button from in game. You still raise your reports on the server and file them, but you will need to log into your MyCTRA page to actually submit it. The hope is that this will encourage a few more of you to check your replays before submission.

I do check the replay before I submit (or not) a report, but it happened once that I couldn't file a report because by the time I tried to do it (4 or 5 hours after the race) the replay had dropped from the bottom of the replays list. So it'd be cool if the replay selection screen had a "Other..." button working like the one for the reported driver, at least as long as the replay still exists in your archives.

Quote from SpikeyMarcoD :Those numbers are new in 1.49 some kind of angle or degree of climb? I find the placing annoying as its in my main view and i dont know how it should help me?

Found it! In LFSRelax.cfg, search for "ViewCollision = true" and replace it with "ViewCollision = false". It's a debug feature that was probably intended to be false by default. I didn't see those coordinates because I migrated my cfg file from the previous version.

I've never seen those numbers, so I may be wrong, but try this:

1. open LFSRelax.cfg
2. scroll down to the bottom of the file
3. look for "AccelerationPrivateMessage = ^3{AccelerationTime}^7 ..." (that line is actually longer)
4. insert '#' in front of this line (without the quotes).
5. save and close the file, then relaunch LFSRelax, LFS, and try again.

Try speedtest.net. It compiles lots of statistics and allows you to compare your connection with averages per region, provider, etc.
