Quote from Zachary Zoomy :nice. are cameras included?

Nope, you'll have to define them yourself.

Quote from MAGGOT :Awesome! Will this need to be upgraded with every patch, or should it work for some time to come yet?

No, the way it works it won't have to be upgraded until Scawen radically changes the custom view.
FlipCams - 5 custom views per car

LFS most conveniently allows you to define a custom view (often called the Wheels View). From the "Options > View > Custom" screen you can define the location of the camera, whether the car's body, the driver and the steering wheel are visible or not, whether the camera reflects accelerations or not, etc. This is great and very flexible. But there is only one custom view per car.

This suite, composed of an executable and a series of LFS scripts, allows to save and use five different custom views per car, and to cycle through them by pressing one of two hotkeys (by default CTRL+F12 to switch to the next camera, and CTRL+F11 to switch the previous one). For example, the attached image shows the custom views I'm currently using with the BF1.

FlipCams comes with an installer that takes care of everything. Run it, select your LFS folder, your preferred hotkeys (ALT+Fkeys or CTRL+Fkeys), and it does the rest. You can then launch LFS and start using FlipCams right away.

Patch X to Z are required for versions up to 1.0.2 of FlipCams, and patch Z25 is required for 1.0.3. Thank again to Scawen for having implemented in these patches the commands necessary for FlipCams to work.

Please see the included Readme for more information. I hope you'll enjoy FlipCams.

Update 1: Trouble getting started? This should help.

Update 2: Version 1.0.1
- Fixed a bug in the installer that made impossible to use the ALT+F11/ALT+F12 hotkeys. Note that if you already installed FlipCams 1.0, you don't need to upgrade it unless you wanted but couldn't use the ALT+F11/ALT+F12 hotkeys.

Update 3: Mini manuel en Français.

Update 4: Version 1.0.2
- The previous version recently started to trigger Avast Antivirus, which reported both FlipCams and its installer to contain a trojan horse named "Win32:Agent-QYH [Trj]". I believe this is due to bogus information recently added to Avast's database. I recompiled both executables with the latest version of AutoHotkey and they no longer trigger Avast antivirus. This is the only change in this version.

Update 5: Version 1.0.3
- Updated to work with patch Z25: LFS no longer saves or refreshes the custom view automatically, so some FlipCams' scripts had to be edited. Thanks to Scawen for implementing the couple of commands required to force saving and refreshing the view! If you keep using versions older than Z25 for some reason, stick to FlipCams 1.0.2 too!

Quote :If the player that is being voted for get kick or ban, leave server, whats happend?

If the vote was to kick it's cancelled (as it's not longer necessary). If the vote was to ban, it remains valid so you can still ban a player who just left.

Do the lights turn green too early in multiplayer replays?

I watched a couple of mpr from yesterday evening's races on one of the test servers, and the delay between the lights turning green and the cars starting seems bigger in replays than in races. Is it just me?

Perfect! Thanks, Scawen!

Try "/echo ^4lfs rules".

Update: I tried. No joy.

Quote from DanneDA :At race start the position list doesn't match the grid, at least on WE1R, saw it at every race I did yesterday on the Bug Test 1 server.

The position of the "[BSR] fer" car label in the second screenshot is very weird, too. Instead of behing above the car, it's several meters alongside it.

Quote from ninja469 :What version of windows are you useing and are your graphics drivers upto date. I run xp pro without any problems.

XP Pro SP2, ATI Radeon X1900 XT, drivers up-to-date. I tried to reproduce it again, but I couldn't.
Black screen with Shift+F4

I got the black screen thing triggered by Shift+F4 a couple of times in single player mode (in W39). Unfortunately it seems to occur randomly and I can't reproduce it at will. Is there some way to get info for Scawen, in this case? Had it happen in Mac OS X I would have run Sample against LFS, but in Windows I don't know what to do.

I was on the test server with about 35 other people, and it was quite a pain between each race to get enough of us to vote to restart in the same "window". I think votes to restart should remain valid at least twice as long.

Also is it indispensable to reset all the votes each time someone connects? Because it really doesn't help in these situations.

What I'd love is a few presets involving only the settings available in the F12 screen. That would be really useful when you have to make an unscheduled pit stop in a long race to repair a damaged suspension but don't want to change your tires or refuel, for example.

Being able to plan a couple of different strategies and switch between them easily during the race would be great, too.

You're welcome, mate!

For the records (in case someone would have the same problem): the password is the one you've set in LFS's administration screen.

Quote from Gentlefoot :All I get when I run v1.49 is "InSim:Admin password does not match" and "InSim:Packet recieved before ISI Packet"

Can anyone help?

I've run into this error when using InSim apps. Open that application's config file (usually a file with a .cfg extension), look for an entry named "adminPass" (or something similar), and make sure its value is set to your current admin password.

Another thing I'd like about the blue flags, is to see them only when the first car behind me triggers them.

It happened several times to me in league races that I gave way to the car behind me and found out when they overtook me that we were on the same lap and it was the second or the third car behind me that wasn't.

I know the map allows to make the difference, but you don't always have the time to look at it, especially on short tracks with fast cars.

AFAIK, IRL the marshalls wave the flags only at the guy who's about to be lapped. They don't wave it at you if the lapper is three cars behind you. Right?
Binding messages/commands to numpad keys
FL!P

Apparently this has never been suggested before. I wonder why!

I'd be great if the numpad keys (or at least the numbers and the operators) could be used like the F keys. That is you could bind messages or commands to them from the Options > Game screen.

I suppose before the scripts were implemented the F keys combinations were enough, but now it'd be nice to have more triggers to chose from.

And BTW, the arrow keys would be good candidates too, IMO.
Ingame Menu's Buttons

I know it's only cosmetic and has already been discussed, but I think the ingame menu really has an unfinished look, now, because of the way the hotkeys are displayed.

The attached screenshot shows a couple of simple changes I'd suggest to make it look better.

Well, it doesn't have the icon of an application yet (we all see the same blank icon) but if you select the menu item Finder > Preferences, click on the Advanced tab and check "Show all file extensions", you should see that it's actually called carview.app.

Also, if you select carview and press Cmd-i, you should see in the General tab of the Info window that Kind says "Application".

If this is the case and it keeps asking your for an application when you double-click it, there's something fishy somewhere. It might be that the archive wasn't expanded properly (hence my previous question about Show Package Contents, info.plist, etc) or it could be your system.

Quote from [RCG]Boosted :yea, a search with only parts of the server name would be really good. some servers have some strange names

Not only that. Some characters that are easily accessible on QWERTY keyboards (like braces or pipe) are much harder to find on AZERTY and other keyboard layouts. And this problem can get even worse for those (like me) who run LFS on Mac (whose keyboards have different modifier keys than PC's).

In fact, I never type in the Join Server dialog. I only use it to join again the last server I was in.

So +1 for this one. But I'm sure this have already been requested many times. I also suggested a "favorite servers" drop down menu, some months ago.

Quote from Becky Rose :FL!P that only appears if you have X11 installed.

Sorry but I don't think so, Becky. AFAIK the contextual menu item is always there (assuming an application bundle is selected). The rest, info.plist, etc, is required whether X11 is installed or not.

Quote :First I think we need to ascertain is what cannot be opened is the Car Viewer program, or the distribution zip file?

Of course. But that would be clear if the answer was "what carview.app"?

I use Avast on Windows and nothing on Mac OS.

When you do a right-click or a ctrl-click on carview.app, the contextual menu should have an item reading "Show Package Contents". If you select it, the Finder should open another window containing a folder named Contents. Inside this folder there should be a folder named MacOS containing a file named carview, an empty folder named Resources, and a text file named info.plist. Do you see all of these?
