I couldn't agree more. I've bought and played the majority of racing sims available before stumbling upon LFS.
It has what I want. When something comes along that has what I want and is even better, I'll switch immediatly. I just don't imagine that being in the near future.
I think Madonna would be happy to get any press at this point.
But as for this particular review, it is not something one could sue over, at least not sue over and win. That's all I meant to say.
Women tripping over children not-withstanding.
( no pun intended )
You can't sue someone for having an opinion different to yours.
Think of all the crappy movies and recordings that get great reviews everyday.
As the saying goes, any press is good press. I for one distrust critics whole heartedly, and if I read such a review, I'd probably immediatly download the game.
This puts in mind of an older computer game: POD.
I used to play this all the time with a friend. The tracks and cars that users had designed were insanely fun. Loops, jumps, driving through sewer pipes and being able to do complete 360's around them.
The tracks were always of an 'alien' nature, and there was a good sense of speed to the game.
Man that was fun. I only wish I could play it on my new computer ( I've tried ).
The physics were decent - it was somewhere between arcade and and sim, but as I might have mentioned already, it was FUN.
This has nothing to do with LFS, or what it isn't or should be. The idea of loops just reminded me of how much fun this game was.
I'm glad to see this here. At least it's something we can point people to when they start trying to ban you because "you ran right into me, didn't even brake, and ruined my PB"
Mine is mine alone, so no need to flame, but I don't see slaming into another car in order to make a pass all the interesting. Most anyone could do that ( although some could be better at it).
I'm much more intrigued by someone using skill and split second reactions to move by another car WITHOUT taking either one out of the race. To me that's always been, and always will be, the soul of racing.
Besides, I thought that's what Banger Racing was all about ?
Granted, it's a fun release, but I don't want to do it day in and day out.
Wow, I've spent about 2 days on the oval, when the game came out, and maybe 20 minutes on a drag strip, in S1, and most of the people I see online nearly every day would probably have similar stats.
I don't get the 'most people seem to prefer' part of this. Maybe it's the timezone you live in.
As for 'simply driving into each other'...provided it's done on a server set up for that purpose, it's fun, and a good break from serious racing, or people driving into you in faster cars .
I'm not sure if I have the name right, I believe it's M.Mos, or something close to that, has been running a track that he made utilizing the pits of SO S2, which
is very cool. It's basically an L shaped track.
It is a lot of fun having real walls rather than barriers, and since you dont reach 80 in the pit section, there is no problem. ( or maybe there is no pit limit in the sprint track?).
Anyway, the original BangerRacing track is fun stuff
