Quote from richo :People are not locked into a monthly chargeor will you be asked to pay for S3 again, whats the problem?

The problem is that S3 is not available for pre-order yet

Quote from Velociround :Yes (actually BRL $34,00), totalizing BRL $134,00, but just for those who have already purchased S2. Anyone who didn't have any Stage of the game before and will just get S3 today would only pay BRL $100,00, which is the same we paid for S2 a few years ago, and also the same price of any other game in the national market.

The same thing has happened with euros too. When I bought S2 it cost me 36€. Currently S3 would cost about 39€.
The british pound has lost a lot of it's value in the last two or so years.

Quote from BOSCHO :OffTopic
Lol messed up
i mean the image size is bigger but the quality the same and when i take a screen with ctrl+s is about 3.xx bytes and when i take it with prtscr is about 1.xx (2mb difference) bytes and its a lot of work when i take more than 1 screen and need to compress it to upload it in websites that the most have 2mb allowed image space. The image in the attachment is 1.85 mb with prtscr and with control+s is 3.75 that i CANT upload it here (needs compress)

This is going way offtopic, but:
1. It's kind of your fault if you are using something other than the built-in feature (Ctrl+S)
2. Don't use PNGs for LFS screenshots, they are huge. The example you posted is almost 2MB which is massive. You should use JPG instead. That image would probably go down to 200KB or something and the quality loss would be almost invisible.
3. There are batch converters for images availabe which can compress the whole folder of images with a few clicks. I prefer IrfanView.

If you buy S2 now and S3 later you will still pay the same as you would if you would buy whole S3 at once. Only exception being that you get to play S2 while you wait for S3.

Quote from george_tsiros :and in this thread we can observe how LFSers are bickering about something they haven't used and most probably never will.

What does that have to do with anything in this thread? It's true that most of us will never be able to drive an F1, but that doesn't mean the version in LFS should be half-arsed.

I am guessing some fantasy car.

Maybe a fast race car, like a LMP or similar.

The cars are kind of grouped together by their speed. S1 has road cars and S2 has race cars. There are few exceptions, but those were probably added before the current plan. When you consider that it makes sense how Scirocco is a S1 car.

It will unlock S2 and give an extra 12GBP to the account. Adding vouchers to an account when S2 is already unlocked will just give extra credit to the account.

EDIT: Also I think they are going to add S3 licenses for pre-order soon. So if you hold up your competition for a while there will be real S3 vouchers available.

Quote from aoun :Sorry for bump, but i didnt realise, I can only give an S2 24gbp voucher. How can i give someone 36gbp for LFS?

Give out a S2 voucher and a S1 voucher. Not pretty, but it should work.

Quote from DoC_uk :But I hope this wont hold up the release of the new tire model

The info about the track seems to imply to me that the track is not close to release yet. I wouldn't be surprised if the New tyre physics/Scirocco patch would be released without Rockingham.

Hehe.
It's funny how periodically someone from Saudi Arabia comes and asks for an Accord.

Quote from baltuxx :Nice, but i just buyed s2 and now i will need buy s3.....

Seeing that S3 will initally only be one car and Rockingham you are not missing much if you have S2. But you probably want to drive the new track and car so you need to shell out the money

Quote from MudPuppy :So basically by some quirk of fate I have registered for S1 which it turns out is the only version to make it as far as retail, and S2 has not yet got as far as beta, but rather a lot of people bought it in this present alpha stage. Good lord! That is not something you'd expect to see happen every day.

With LFS the alpha and beta tags don't mean what they traditionally mean in software development. S2 alpha is just a continuation from S1. S2 is stable as a rock and all the features in it work fine (unlike traditional alphas). The only reason the S2 still has the alpha tag is because it does not yet have all the planned features.

Also the S1 and S2 licenses just mean what cars and tracks you can use. Even if you have only a S1 license you will still play S2 version of the game, only you don't get to drive all the cars and tracks.

Add these two together you can see why almost everyone has bought S2 even if it's still in alpha stage.

Quote from Mille Sabords :However all you will get is the S2 registration date.
Unregistered demo times will not be visible obviously (before demo registration became mandatory).

No. It's the opposite. The registration date is when the user registered their account, demo or S1/S2. It has been possible to register demo accounts right from the start, it just hasn't been mandatory. It's not possible to see when a user purchased S1 or S2.
Quote from SkyNet :Thanks for your answers!
So there's no telling how old an LFS username is if it dates before jan 21. 2003?

You couldn't register before that. There were no accounts before that date. So usernames can't be any older than that. Altough some people might have played LFS before that.

Quote from logitekg25 :i was not aware that vbulliten would not allow a name change when i made this, and it will be a bit of work, but if there are strict limitations about it it should not be too much of a problem

vBulletin allows you to change your name. But this name is also your LFS account name, which causes all the problems in changing it.

I can see why some people want to change their names. Depends on how the databases are designed, but I think it should be possible to change usernames. It would make sense to make a piece of code that does all the stuff automatically, since if you are going to change one username, other people will want to have their names changed too. Letting people change their name by themselves would be a bit risky though, so a some kind of request system would be usefull. All this would probably take some time from the devs (in the short run and in the long run).

I am kind of on the fence on this issue. I don't mind the current situation, but I would probably change my username if it was possible.

Oh yeah, I remembered some VMWare version was free. But I just checked Workstation because that's what Shadowww talked about.

Quote from Shadowww :You can NOT install Linux on MICROSOFT WINDOWS Virtual PC. You can install it on VMware WorkStation, thought.

Yes you CAN run Linux on MICROSOFT WINDOWS Virtual PC.
Sure VMWare is better, but it's not free unlike Virtual PC. Besides Virtual PC works fine if you are just doing simple stuff.

Rain is way more complex than just less grip.
Actually rain is hugely complex thing to simulate in a driving context.

Quote from Kandis :Auto clutch should be removed (there is a paddle clutch in a real F1 car)

Quote from CodieMorgan :Needs the Boost setting as well.

wat

F1s do have an auto clutch. You can control the clutch manually too, but drivers only use it during starts otherwise it's automatic.

Boost? F1s don't have turbos.

Quote from Dark-Master of XG :I wonder if there will be a gaming wheel available @ 1100-1200d.

Probably not any time soon. The Force Feedback motors are too slow to handle 900 degrees properly as it is. Having even more degrees would make it worse.

Also outside the hardcore simming community (quite small minority) there is not really a demand for more degrees. 900 degress came popular because it had the Gran Turismo series' backing.

Quote from iFastLT :Nice!!! I'm just wondering now, what about all PBs and WRs? If you gonna change tyre physics so it means grip level will change, more likely it will reduce. So you just gonna delete all PBs and WRs or what?

Atleast all hotlaps will be reset. Business as usual.
