Quote from Byku :.... but what about MRT? It's lack of reverse is annoying, and in real life I could(propably? ^^) get out and push it a little . Now in LFS it also repairs damage :/.

Are you allowed to get out of the car and push it in FSAE?
Anyway the simple solution is to not make mistakes and not get your MRT stuck

About the rally pack: Yeah, it would make sense that if the spectators could get the car back the right way. But even then a simple 'reset' wouldn't be enough. The spectators would have to be animated and it would take a while for them to get your car turned. Also if you would crash somewhere where there no spectators near or the spectators would be girls (or girly men) they wouldn't be able to help you.

Quote from runeman :Wouldn't it be easier to just take a simple test for a license?
Compose the test of certain skills and knowledge needed for racing?
If the test is failed then maybe take the driving lessons.

I never actually cared for the lessons, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't take a simple test to prove i'm worthy enough to race online. Why complete courses or lessons (whichever you prefer to call them)?

Surely, you can't actually think taking a test is a good idea also... I'm against the lessons and anything else that wastes my time.

geeman1, it's called perfecting the lessons... people just study and pass the tests and race the way they want or see fit. Doesn't do a single thing but waste perfectly good time.

I have no idea if you are for or against this idea.
Also I don't get what you wanted to say to me.

It wouldn't help really. Bad players would still get to online before they learn to drive properly. Racing online against real people is very different than racing against an AI. Training lessons can't teach you how to race for real.

Besides most people would find the lessons a nuisance. Then someone would probably find a way to bypass the lessons and share the revelation. Then we would be in square one again, except few people who don't visit the forum or are not skilled in Google Fu would still be annoyed by the lessons.

It's like it is now to encourage people to use the most realistic mode for racing. The mode where you can reset is mainly meant for practicing. Basically the devs want this game to have realistic-as-possible mode for racing and another mode for practicing, nothing in between.

Good choice in my opinion. Having a middle ground would most likely mean that most servers would use it instead of the most realistic option. Sometimes you just have to shove people to the right way, otherwise they will go where the fence is the lowest.

Quote from rockclan :The Dutch Kartmeeting Group

If you just want to have kartmeet for dutch LFS'ers, a simple thread should suffice.
If it's not LFS related you should make your own forum for it.

There might be or might not be some legit reasons for having groups on this forum. Anyway, usually people will just end up making tons of groups for no reason and the forum will turn in to a social networking site. If you want that, you should just go to that myface or something.

Quote from Not Sure :Mikä olisi hyvä käännös sanalle "single-seater"? Käänsin sen "Yksipaikkainen".. Entä "open wheeler", tuskin "avopyöräinen"?
Käänsin "race car":in "rata-auto", koska "kilpa-auto" kuulostaa minusta typerältä..

Yksipaikkainen on mun mielestä se oikea suomennos.

Quote from pearcy_2k7 :A couple of weeks ago i went into the shop on a lunch brake and i saw this girl that i knew from years ago and i didn't really want to talk to her

Agreed.
It's so awkward to bump in to people you kind of know and you are not quite sure if you should greet them or have a few words.
Also what is awkward when you bump in to someone in a shop, then you say 'hi' to them and after that you bump in to them a bit later at the same shop, I have no idea what to do then. Say 'hi' again or make some remark about bumping in to each other?

Quote from Feffe85 :Removing the handbrake, and letting everyone brake at the start? i mean, irl nobody would use the handbrake at the start.. (i think)

There was a lengthy discussion about this when false starts were added to LFS (you can move before the race starts). The conclusion about the handbrake was that it might not be 100% realistic, but it's better gaming wise that the car doesn't start rolling without any user input if there happens to be an incline on the starting grid.

Might be true. I haven't checked if there are servers my self. But server owners usually tend to host servers which will have people racing on. Hosting a server that is empty almost all the time does not make much sense.
Also what I have witnessed in previous LRF threads is that when server owners decide to switch their server to run LRF after reading the thread, they usually come back to the thread a bit later to proclaim there really isn't anyone on the server. After a while they usually switch their server back to what it was before.

Not that I am against anyone changing their server to run LRFs. Go ahead do that, but I can not see this going any better this time.

Unfortunently the problem is not the lack of LRF servers. It's just people in general are not willing to race them.

They are challenging cars to drive. I think many people are turned off by the fact that they can't make a full lap in them without spinning, let alone be fast. And the people who actually can drive them are turned off because there are so few people driving them.

Quote from Aid :i also use win7. it is a but i see no reason why my rear and front springs/dampers should be repaired when all i want to do is change wing 1deg... what one has to do with another?! and do you think real F1 teams change/repair 5% damaged components where all driver wants is simple 2 turns on front wing? forget about it.. time is to precious to do silly things when they don't affect handling and simple wing adjustments can improve it a lot. b-u-g BUG

It's not a bug. It's a improvement suggestion, a reasonably good one too. But it just doesn't belong in to this thread.

Quote from Trekkerfahrer :the direction arrow is a good thing, but its hard to see this small thingy... can you make it blinking green/grey?

I agree on this one. The arrow seems to be quite small and hard to notice. Maybe it should be some other color than grey and a bit bigger.
