I refuse to conform to the future enevitability. I will build an old can and laugh when some one writes a virus to crash you computer driven car. I will never give up control.

Quote from NetDemon01 :I would be willing to bet a lot of money that if you drive a car, it has computers controlling certain aspects of it.

Yes but the moment those cars need to help keep it under control they will have become too complicated. I do not like traction control, anti lock brakes, yaw control, engine managment computers or automatic transmissions. If I could buy a new car with out them I would.

My old N/A carberated dodge was 20ft long, weighted over 3000lbs, had a 318ci V8 which got 30mpg on the hiway, and could lay rubber for 100ft. My newer truck weights less, can't roast the tires, and gets 25mpg from a 2.4 liter I4. Less fuel efficiency from a smaller engine. Wow looks like progress to me. You brain is faster then a computer use it instead of relying on a computer to make up for your short comings.

Changing controlers will lower you times initialy, so don't get frustrated. Just stick with it and in a short time you will be setting PBs again. It took me a few weeks to overcome the switch from non FFB wheel to a FFB wheel. I am much faster now then I was before I got this wheel.

The more I drive the different cars in LFS and explore the handeling envelopes, the greater my understanding of vehicle dynamics and vehicle setup becomes. There are so many different ways to get a car to do the same thing, each with different side affects.

I recently think I hit on a new issue. Sudden snap oversteer under cornering may be a combination of suspension bottoming out and if soft tires are used, the tire rolling over to the sidewall.

Well since I admin the Club LX West server. What car and track do you want it set for? I can set it and lock it if there are people that want to setup a race on it.

Right now its limited to LX4, LX6 and open for track and lap selection.

There are plenty of small tracks and car companies that woudl probaly jump at the chance to get their track or car in a realistic sim. The free advertising would make it worth while for small track owners, Like Pacific Raceway in Kent, Washington.

Well the race series is the final step. Getting the club up is the first, it will be an open public structure. Just a place for people to meet, race and have fun.

I own a copy, have not tried it in years. I did once manage to bend a car in half. It was an ugly crash.

The simple awnser is this. We need a masive autocross area in LFS so we can replicate the Top Gear test track, an old airfield. Then they can test the Race About in both LFS and in real life. That would be the easiest to do aside from building and auto cross track in real life and LFS and running to two head to head in that venue.

The tools are there just takes some one to get them to do it. Having direct data between the two would also be a benifit to LFS as far as getting the physics nailed down better.

Club LX West and the Spec LX Series

I use to dislike the LX4 & LX6 in S1, they were difficult to drive and hard to master, at least for me. Since S2 has been released I have come to enjoy these two cars very much. They are still a little temperamental and at times prone to bite back, but they can be tamed enough to make them rather fun and rewarding to drive. They are a true sports car in the classic description, Light, Quick & Responsive. I am now considering putting together a racing club and if there is enough interest a race series dedicated to these two cars. As I am located in the US and there are few dedicated clubs and series based in N/A this project will be initially geared towards player in this region of the world.

Club LX West:

This club will be a loose and flex able group of people, there will be few guidelines and rules. It will be a place for people with a love for the LX to gather, race and have fun, nothing more, nothing less. My goal is to provide this club with a forum website and a server or two. With that I will leave the club in the hands of its members to organize their own fun races and events as they choose.

Spec LX Series:

This race series will be developed if there is enough interest in Club LX and in an organized racing series. If it proves to be a desired event I will build a race series around the LX6 (using slicks if possible) and with a similar feel to real club racing series like the SCCA’s Spec Miata class.

The Current State:

At this point all this is just a goal. I will be honest and say I can not do this alone. I lack the skill, resources and time to make this happen on my own. To get things started I need a few people that can help me put this together and provide resources. I am trying to do this as a zero budget project. If there is anyone who is interested in helping and has skills, resources or time they can offer please drop me a PM and we shall see of we can make this happen. To get things rolling a Website and Race Server are the first priority.

Thank you all to those that are interested and I hope to get things up and running soon.

Edit:

Ok the server is up on a temporty host thanks to my team.

Ok that is just scary. After reading that article I am not sure I can trust any files anymore.

Given the content of the article he liknked I can over look the use of CAPS.

Yet one more reason to rebuild my computer from the ground up.

I can make my own skins thats not an issue. Though mine are not a professional looking as some. I was just noticing that there is a distinct lack of avalable choices for these two cars when compaired to the other vehicles. Most of the good skinners are not currently making skins for them.

I was just trying to give them a little shove and see if they will produce. I have been having a blast in the LX4 this last week but most people are running base skins and the variation during a race is slim.

Alright why is no one making skins for the LXs, these are a becoming a fun class, especialy the LX4. I pose a challange to the great skinners in our comunity.

Build us a complete LX4/6 race grid worthy of your skills.

This thread is starting to slip. We can't have that.

If there is one car in LFS and really suprized me in its handeling and shear fun factor it is the XF GTR. It has a just the right combination of weight, power and grip to nmake for some really fun races. I would really like to see in the future, a Front engine, RWD car added which has about the same specs as the XF GTR. I do not care if its a Sedan, Family Coupe (Not a Fastback like the XR) or Roadster like a Miata. An AWD in the same size/weight/power class would also be a great addition for Rallycross. Any car added shoudl have Two trims, street and racce prepped.

The current system is just fine but needs more options. Making the system any more complex (requiring more keys to control) makes no sence. Up and Down to select item and Left and Right to alter item is nice, easy to understand and works well. The number of options we have to each setting or the number of items may need to be looked at but not the way it is controled.

I thought there was an option in LFS to disable Skin downloads.

Its also an added challange to the faster drivers as every win makes the next more diffacult.

By physics they are refering to suspension geometry and vehicle dynamics.

Quote from micha1980de :about balancing cars, imo the 3 gtr cars aren't that balanced cause the fzr has a higher power output than the other 2.

for example try to break 0:39.xx on the Kyoto_oval with the xrr, or the fxr.

mybee caused by my low-expierence or by the v6 in the fzr, i could not compete against it, using one of the other two
am i completely wrong or does someone actually agree to that?

it's pretty much like the "highlander" hook "there can only be one" or sth. like that, i've never seen the engl. original.

FZR: 490bhp, 371lbft, 2425lbs, 452bhp/ton
XXR: 490bhp, 462lbft, 2424lbs, 453bhp/ton
FXR: 490bhp, 462lbft, 2492lbs, 441bhp/ton

Those are the GTR specs from LFS. This tells me that the all cars have the same HP, the FZR is low on torque, and the FXR is too heavy. If you look at the numbers only the XRR has the best power weight advantage and should win most if not all the races. The XXR and FZR are closely matched, but in a long race with equaly skilled drivers the XXR will win on tire ware and fuel use. The FXR is only going to win on tight twisty tracks. For some reason the FZR eats tires and fuel like there is no tomarrow, despite being the same weight and producing the same HP but far less torque. It often will need to stop 3 times for every 2 times the other two need to.
