Well if it's duck's setup then of course it's good
You have two choices when a setup doesn't feel complete, either learn to drive the set (i.e. adjust your driving) or adjust the set to your driving style
If your still relatively new to LFS I'd suggest learning to drive the set as it may well help you get faster also.
If you choose to adjust a set to your driving, it is very subjective and you will need to be quite specific as to what the car is doing so that we can give advice on what changes might have a positive effect for you. Also keep in mind some sets are made for specific controller types. The set I'm currently driving would be a nightmare on mouse or ks but is great fun with a wheel as it uses clutch pack with quite strong brakes and more rear bias than most
Reasonable is the operative word, as I think it does have it's limitations.
For one I think it is much easier to keep a low yellow flag average if you are always at the head of the pack rather than a middle pack racer where your much more likely to inavertantly get mixed up in incidents
I'm born an bred Holden, but I own two Fords at the moment
Car make used to be a big thing for me, not so much anymore
Bathurst is the only race I have too see each year but even then I normally only get to see an hour or two here an there definately want to go to bathurst one year though
100M hey I'd buy 16 million lotto tickets so I could almost be certain of being a millionare oh oh wait that still will not garantee me winning the jackpot so why does anyone buy lotto tickets again? Ah that's right it's so they can dream
Busted bet you didn't expect another Perthite to catch you out
The thing I find is ping is just one factor, the most important factor is the stability of the internet between you and the server your connecting too. Sometimes I can connect to a server in the 200ms range and lag out continually, while I can connect to a server around 400ms that is perfectly stable, so there is much more too it than just ping
I find servers based in America and Europe to be quite good, while servers in Asia, South America, etc to be poor regardless of ping reported.
@ al yeah in LFS all cars should have tow bars and no roo/bull bars allowed that will fix em I remember someone rear ending me once, the practically wrote their car off (holed the radiator and crumpled front end) and I drive off with barely a scratch
can't say that works for me everytime but yeah quite often
Proper driving courses would be a good start I agree, but I don't believe it would be enough. It might actually encourage some to be more aggressive
I think there is not enough 6 ft 300 pound police offices to give you a good shacking up these days. I still remember some of my encounters with burly cops on the other hand I hardly recall speed camera infringments, I just don't think speed cameras are an effective deterent.
It's true you don't need horsepower to kill yourself but there are alot that die because they have horsepower especially in country areas, I know of several cases of young blokes doing deliberate drifts around bends at 160+ km/hr that have come too grief.
I don't understand why they don't limit P plate drivers to uncustomised low powered cars, similar to bike licenses. Young blokes wanting to show that they are men and powerful cars are a recipe for disastor imo.
oh really I've been playing LFS since 2004 on all types of connections from Perth including 56k dialup, 128k ISDN and now 8000k/384k ADSL almost exclusively on european servers without too much problems
All were good but on the slower connection types I just had to watch that I didn't connect to full servers, and disconnect if a server filled up too fast .
56k dialup could handle 8-10 connections well
128k ISDN - 12-15 connections
And I find with ADSL that 15-20 is best for European servers.
With Aussie servers it could handle more obviosly, but with the limited server choice and my odd hours I always ended up on European servers.
Yes but in real life if I was in a race serries in Australia I would have a RHD car but then if I flew to the USA I'd jump into a race car for an event it would be drive LHD
Also if you want to improve realism like that, then you should restrict the use of cars to just one for a season as not many real race drivers drive more than one or two types of car in a season
I agree with Abdroid in that I don't see a problem, you can stipulate what side is used for a league so whats it matter about public servers
In my day a teen simply couldn't afford such high powered cars, these days it's much too easy to get credit I guess
So making it compulsary to have comprehensive insurance would help prevent the current insanity. Failing that I'm sure the easy credit times we have now want last forever infact I predict less than 2 years
Take a few deep breathes and put you head between your knees till you don't fill giddy anymore then go and find an LX4/LX6 server and do a few races thats what I do
meh at the moment I sometimes use custom wheels view center then swap to LHD cockpit and then sometimes even RHD cockpit I drive RHD in RL of couse, it's harder to change driver position in RL
Yep I've passed just short of a dozen white crosses today in a mere 180km stretch it astounds me how arrogant alot of road users are in there stuborn belief that the road is thiers to do as they please
now on the light side, just got sent this and it fits sort of
I rear-ended another car this morning. I tell you, I knew right then and there that it was going to be a REALLY bad day! The driver got out of the other car, and wouldn't you know it... He was a DWARF!! He looked up at me and said "I am NOT Happy!" So I said, "Well, then, which one ARE you?" And that's how the fight started.
I've got a pb at blackwood gp in xfg for example of 1:32:49 which was set in an earlier version of the physics in the current version my best time is about 1:33:2x I've been accused of cheating because of this on occassion LOL
I like the idea of limited practise for a race and sticking to one car for a season. That is pretty much my situation also, I just can't justify the time needed to get good at a bunch of different cars and tracks, not when I've got sooo many unfinished projects in RL that if I don't finish them will cost me $ I do enjoy CTRA race1 for that reason
I would love too see that but only in the future when LFS collision detection and damage have been much improved and in conjunction with a stricter licensing/training program.
