You do lose a good chunk of speed and lap time without the ability to go full power.
One thing I have always hated about the newer wheels/peddals is the fact that they calibrate all the bloody time.
There's nothing worse then driving 10 laps with no issues and the 11th, the brake goes soft or hard because the software decided so.

Quote from Archange :in racing they usually talk about which gear to take the corners, not the speed

i dont watch my speed before taking any corner, i just know i have to downshift to 3rd,4th, etc.. gear.
as simple as that

That makes no sense whatsoever.
Most of us use completely different gear ratios and as such, what gear you take a corner has nothing to do with what my set takes the corner in.
I'm not for converting the maps to dual units but it's very important to know your relative speed regardless of what unit it's shown in (fast turns after straights, chicanes, etc) as it really helps in terms of consistency.

I'm in US and find people with no problems at all.
I race between midnight and 2am EST.
Agreed that we have the patch VS official dilemma with a new patch every day.
Like Banshee said, once X is out, you'll find all the available races on one version hence fuller servers around the clock.

I think the "pros" need to stop racing as if they are doing hotlaps. It's your and my responsibility to overtake someone and not the other way around. There are exceptions of course. If the person joined mid race, they should do the right thing and give some breathing room and not push themselves as they would ordinarily do. But it it's a 35 lap race and we all started at the same time, we are all fighting for a spot at the top. regardless whether you're front pack, middle or end, you are fighting someone most of the time
(playing on w test patch that is ).
In races like that, it's your duty to pass clean and the passed ones duty not to defend. This does NOT mean getting the hell out of they way and going off roading.
To me, there's nothing worse than someone seeing a blue flag and panicking.
This usually ends bad for them, and if they REALLY panic, bad for me as well.
I'm personally one of those drivers that wait for the right time to do anything.
If I'm lapping someone, I know where I can take them and where I can draft a bit to gain the needed speed to do so quickly as possible.
If you managed to outlap someone, you should be able to make a clean and responsible pass.
Passing in a tight chicane or a tough spot is lack of braincells IMO.

the only change I can notice with 39 and 40 is that it twitches and laggs the game much more then it used to when people connect, leave pits and DL/loading skins.

Not sure if this is simply an issue on my side but it is much worse then it used to be (now I regularly lag off of the track during the above mentioned occurrences)

IMO it's his fault.
I see way too many "good" drivers trying to hotlap during the race with complete disregard to other racers. Those people don't know poop about racing, IMO.
Those are the ones bitching at you for not getting out of their holly way rather then waiting their chance.

Some people really need to rethink and relearn the proper conduct during races. It's not how fast you can lap the track. It's how fast and clean you can do it under the given circumstances.

Small bumps and mistakes happen and are not frowned upon. But when someone slams into a car because they weren't going fast enough it just pure stupidity.

Mouse works great for me for now, even on GTR's and open wheelers so I'd go with S2 if I was you.
Key to mouse driving is to set your trottle and brake to KB (I use W for trottle and D for Brake) and the right click and left click for shifting.
This gives you plenty of control.
Also, set the button rate to about 2.6 - 3 (default is 4.0) This will allow you to better control trottle and brake input.
I agree that nothing really beats a good wheel with LFS. But you need to have LFS first
I'd rather mouse my way to LFS stardom then hotlap the demo with a g25.

I'm not talking about the adjustment of the mirror angle but rather a second ball joint right after the plate that is glued to the glass. I can more my mirror up, down, left and right aside from the normal angle motion.
I'll take a picture of my car's mirrior if people aren't sure what I mean.

In any car that I have owned so far (with the exception of a 91 VW golf GTI), you are able to move the mirror about an inch up and down and about half an inch to the sides.
Most modern rear view mirrors have a swivel ball that allows for this motion to happen.

You might want to check the year 'cuz that ain't a 93!

Anyway, I'm more of a sleeper guy but nice car. 200 shot of Nos is.....well....not a healthy thing if you wish to keep it for a while.
Being a Nos hater, I'm slightly biased in my opinion.

Congrats on the car. Hope you have some fun with it.

I found another small issue with the new version (well started with W10)
The "can't reset-would cause yellow flag" rule needs to be applied to AI as well.
I know AI will be worked on at a later time, but they shouldn't be able reset and repair right in front of other cars thus causing collisions. I hope this is an easy fix (I'd imagine at least).

Since I'm a demo racer (for now) and the demo community is , how shall I say, lacking common sense, I prefer racing offline with bots.
Just in case you were wondering.

Quote from GruntOfAction :They need it so when someone crashes you can pause and move camera around em like bullet time or something lol..

You can.
Press Shift+U and you can "freefly" around the crash.
