Dude, you really are making Americans look as arrogant as the world would like them to be.
Seriously.
Wikipedia first, LFS Forum second.
As a general rule, many cars from the same manufacturer share the same platform, engines, etc. It brings R&D as well as production cost down while giving the customer a variety of choices.
As far as VW, generally the following cars share the same platform:
Golf, Jetta, Beetle as well as all the variations of those (convertible, wagon, etc)
There is nothing "tuned" about the Scirroco.
It was just developed around the same platform.
I havent been really active for ages now and its not LFS itself. Its what the majority of servers run as combos/cars.
Shame that the best cars ingame imo, are the least raced ones; lx, FZ5, RAC.
I cant stand SS as much as i try and low power FF cars were never my thing so....im playing other things when time permits
If I may suggest, adding the FZ5 would make me a permanent installation on your server.
FZ5 races tend to be very head to head over 10+ laps.
Sadly, the only way to race FZ5 online these days are drift servers....which aren't really racing.
Also, FZ5's and LX6's can be paired up on quite a few tight combos (only way to race IMO are tight tracks)
I believe quite a few people would welcome this.
Thanks for providing a different then norm server.
LFS really needs them now more then ever.
Nah, I'm playing LFS on and off since the XRT was 6speed and BL had a tree in the middle of the chicane.
Just never jad a reason to register till 05.
However, even in '05 the community was much smaller then it is today.
When you know everyone you race with night after night, you care about your driving and behaviour.
Ah well....it's just a game, lets not take it too seriously.
I really miss the old clean days of LFS as well and I'm affraid LFS will never go back to what it once was.
I don't think that the dev team has brought this upon us however, the recent changes that have been made/added have attracted a very "young and competetive" crowd that many of us old LFS'ers don't agree with.
Races have also become much more dirty then they used to be but there is a simple explanation to that.
Back then, you knew everyone you raced with as there were only a very limited number of players.
People had to take care of their reputation as respect on the track was much more important the simply fast laps.
This has changed quite a bit, as many might have noticed.
As devs obviously like the increased popularity, I don't expect the devs to cater to the needs and wants of the old minority.
I simply just race cars that the new crowd doesn't like, for the most part (LX, RAC, etc)
The good old quality is still there, however limited and hard to find. But its sure worth looking for it.
Thats generally not true.
All cars that I've ever owned and most small cars in todays market have a steering wheel possitioned fairly high.
Larger cars like SUV's and Minivans dont.
I guess it depends where you live and what type of cars you drive but as a standard, most European small and sports cars have a steering wheel above the bottom part of the windshield.
On the track (real track that is) you really feel tyre , engine and susp. damage by "feel"...not so much sound or other silly simulated stuff.
When LFS let's me turn my head to listen for engine, exhaust noise or touch the bottom of my dash to check for heat (yes, it works..at least in my track car) or smell the oil burning, then we can talk about removing all simulated gauges.
Oh poop I missed the sign-up for this baby...what a shame. Thats what I get from taking a break.
Well, wish all the best of luck.
I'll be following this one from the sidelines...thats for sure.
Always good to see LX in action.
Another thing I really can't live with anymore is CamLevel.
It's made LFS so much more enjoyable.
Cross fingers on it being included in the next patch. LFS really needs it.
Considering the recent wave of cretins with 25BP in their pockets, I'm afraid that wont cut it.
However, I don't think a system against it will cut it either as those people simply don't care.
There might be a leak somewhere or maybe its my aged PC but with p14, my FPS has been cut in half even when I force LFS into my old settings (AA, AF off, set everything as it was and elliminated new features). I also get MUCH more moire as well as aliasing.
I'll try to figure out what's causing it and post back.
I used to get my sets for "fast" people and hated every second of racing with those. Then I started making my own, quite realistic sets, and currently I'm enjoying the beauty of RAC and LX6 more the any other class.
I'll post my LX6 set once I get off work. Someone might like it.
Yes, it should work fine.
Just FYI, I got my DFP brand new for $70 USD which is as dirt cheap as it gets.
Buying a used wheel is always a flip of a coin as you can't possibly know what has been done to it prior to your ownership. Keeping in mind that wheels are not the most sturdy PC accessories, take this as a bit of warning.
IMO, regardless of how little you pay, it becomes very expansive once it brakes after a month of moderate usage.
Sure you can. My brother owns a TT with a DSG. However, neither are they standard equipment not are they an American family sedan.
This kid is talking about a sequential on his dads 300M FFS.
If you knew shit about cars you wouldn't have made this post.
What you described above is a double clutch system, also known as a dog DSG....something a 300m does NOT have. A dual clutch, sequential trans was built for performance and the certainly aren't standard issue on a family sedan (unless the vehicle is a $80k car).
But hey, feel free to tell people to shift their DSG equiped Ford Taurus with confidence.
