As far as I know, it's a ban on the forum and the master server, but I'm not 100% sure about that.
For demo players it usually means they were caught cracking the game. For licenced, it's something bad and/or illegal they have done which resulted in a ban.
While racing HAS changed from back in the day, this was to be expected with the popularity of LFS lately.
There are so many non sim people trying and buying LFS expecting GT4 or the like while not knowing the first thing about vehicle physics and dynamics.
However, every time I'm about to give up on LFS, something like this happens.
The mpr is one of the best races I had in a while...and it was a 1v1 at that.
While it may not look exciting, it was a rush to drive it and kept me on the edge of my seat most of the race. That's the whole beauty of LFS.
(Please don't judge the lap times as I'm quite rusty with the FOX)
P.S. CTRA has only done good things to LFS. IF it wasn't for it, we'd all still be doing GTR on AS...something I wont miss for a very long time.
Ive tried and wasn't able to make it work. It does work in profiler for my DFP so it's all good.
I do believe that there is software that will let you simulate keystrokes though so you might want to look into that.
+1 as this would help new people get to know all the tracks while giving us oldtimers a reason to run a certain combo and maybe even like it.
It could also be turned into an online thing as well without making it a league.
I've found that if I'm not running turn compensation and mismatch the LFS rotation, I get steering lag on some cars.
Maybe that only happens with the DFP but I have noticed it.
Maybe someone can report as to why this might be.
Well I'll help you out on this one. RR is Time Warners cable internet. It's very stable in most locations and has extremly good up/down speed and bandwith. It's considered one of the betters ISP's in the U.S. currently.
So what part in the oxymoron here?
Unless you wan't to start with "computers don't become good or bad depending on their internet connection", which still wouldn't make it an oxymoron.
When I said exciting, I thought it was obvious I wasn't talking about the audience.
If you ever have a chance to talk to a driver that has competed on the Monte Carlo street track, he/she will tell you that they have nightmares about it quite often.
Same goes for Laguna Seca.
If you are fine with the dificulty of tracks in LFS, that's fine. But fact is that many of us aren't. Some tracks are great IMO, but the majority lacks excitement. This obviously depends what vehicle you are in. I prefer slower FR cars and tight tracks to GTR's or F1/FOX on AS, WE or KY but that's just me.
Man this is sad. I've been here playing LFS for years and I don't remember one tiny little thing....how in the world do you take a screenshot and where does it save?
Not sure where you live but I've been driving for 7 years in the U.S. and they were all used small cars with manual trans, however they weren't American cars but who wants those anyway
Still the point stands, it's very easy to find a manual in the U.S.
As for low speed tyre grip, it's way off in every "sim" I have tried so far.
I don't know the reason for this but no one has gotten it right yet it seems.
Hence why it's such a pain to enter sharp corners property in LFS (as in realistically)
Technical tracks have also another very good racing aspect; they are close to impossible to drive consistantly without a lot of concentration and care.
AS north rev is a decent technical track in the right car (non downforce cars) and also very realistic in terms or RL reference. Same goes for SO. FE is as unrealistic of a track as it gets. It's technical, sure, but the feel is not track like as it really feels like something found in a game, not a sim.
Now RL references for technical tracks are tracks such as Imola, Laguna Seca, Monte Carlo, etc.
There's a reason why most of the exciting final races are held at those.
The second for sure. But remember, AA is your friend.
Also, dont use motion blur if you wish to blur something as it can be very painful if used on the whole image without a resting point. Use variations of gaussian blur and smudge.
@ElvisArg
Those are amasing. Not to fond of the backfire but all in all GREAT
As I said, I have my DFP set to 720 in profiler and 720 in LFS, have wheel turn comp. at 1.00 and my wheel will FF stop at the cars max rotation so I assumed this would have been the case for the G25 as well.
Also, while the 105% in profiler works for G25, for my DFP it's just too twitchy with a huge non FF hole in the center.
What I'm running is 50% in profiler and 100% ingame as this allows LFS to feed me 100% or track info without me having to fight the wheel. I do have to lower the 50% in profiler to about 47% for GTR's, but since I've been long tired of that class it's currently a non-issue.
I know peopel always argue that one hasn't driven all the combos, blah blah. It's a valid argument, no dount but my issue is the track quality.
Most tracks lack any real life reference as they seem something you'd find in NFS rather then a sim.
We need more technical tracks, more proper chicanes, decent dropoffs and climbs (the current ones are a mile long except for one on AS and the killer on SO town Rev.) and finally LESS OR NO 2 MILE STREIGHTS!
It's really sad to see every track we have using a very long streight followed by 1-2 corners then another streight.
Also, AS, KY, BL and WE need to be proportionally smaller (/1.5 at least, not to be confused with shorter). Quite often I feel like driving an RC car on a public road.
In LFS, set "Wheel Turn Compensation" bar to far right (should read 1.00)
Set profiler to 720 and LFS to 720.
All cars steering wheels should correspond 100% to the wheel in your hands.
All this works just dandy for my DFP so G25 should work fine this way.
If you read my post again you'll see that Im not a game basher nor a LFS fanboy.
Maybe we all have different taste in terms of "sims" but I'd rather do GT4 and up then the BMW challange. It simply doesn't feel right at all.
I do agree that everyone should DL it and make their own judgement. That's the whole point of opinions.
While all these arguments are quite correct and logical, here's a question.
Have you tries the M3 challange and what do you think?
I have and I think it's complete junk.
Handling is way off, graphics are sub par and FF is to laugh at.
Remember, this is from a guy who argues that one should play more then one sim and who believes that rF and the GTR series can be great fun.
Any automaker wishing to portray their top of the line sports model such as BMW did, with a game that's not even close to the real thing is out of their mind.
While going with gt4 or a more arcade game is fine IMO, the current M3 challange doesn't do the car justice even the slightest bit.
Chances are SCAVIER would have turned them down (sadly) but can you imagine what LFS could do for large automakers and what they could equally do for LFS.
20% less creative freedom, 80% more income and licensing deals.
For many of us it's the physics that take us back even after years of playing.
I know I've said it myself....nothing wrong playing another "sim".
However, a few more tracks in LFS would mean the world to many of us as only LFS gives me the "edge of the seat yet comfortable" feeling.
If it comes down to mod tracks, I'd suggest something semi official.
Devs would have to OK every single track and that would be somewhat time consuming. However, it'd still be less time spent then creating the tracks them-self. I can't imagine anyone not liking free labor to be honest. I'm surprised devs haven't looked into it yet. As you can tell, I'm fine with fantasy tracks as long as we have a few more.
As far as cars go, my heart says yes but my brain says no.
I've see way too many disputes over physics when you toss real cars into the mix. I'm not sure I'd like to see those disputes in the LFS community.
/OFFish
I finally got SlickMod and V and put some nice R1's on the LX6. My oh my that brings out the perfection of that car.
My point being, if dev's included "track" versions of some current cars, they would get many of us off their backs and the effort would be minimal in terms of new content and specifically cars.
LX4 track & LX6 track would popularise the LX class without taking much effort nor changing anything about the game itself.
The RAC still sucks even with R1's one
I agree to most of the comments here as well.
Don't try to mimic WR drivers. You might catch a trick or two but god forbit you race like that online as you wont last 3 laps.
Problem with the WR's is the fact that the majority of combos can not be driven that way in a race. They use strange lines, corner in an odd manner and the sets feel like on ice. They might be fast but it's also very unrealistic.
All you have to do is feel comfortable with the car and track...not be fast.
If you know to do X if the car does Y, you're more then ready to race on CTRA or any other server out there.
Yes, you will start in the back then move towards the center and so on. You'd be suprised how fast you can climb in position if you know how to react rather then just hotlap for that perfect line (32 on SO Town Rev....the line no longer exists except for the leader and the back marker).
Just get out and race and make sure you have fun. That's what this is all about
