I voted never online just forum addict. I voted as the closest to me but not quite. I spend more time on here than actually playing LFS but i fancied a few races the other night and picked it up and enjoy myself. So I am more "online rarely but forum addict"
I think the point trying to be made is that while the GTR’s don’t represent FIA GT1 class cars, we do have proper 2 tier racing through the intake restriction. However, I do agree some more powerful GTR’s would be good (along with some LMP’s too.) I agree for two reasons, firstly because I think LFS should represent as many types/levels or racing possible (even if using ‘fake’ cars.) The second reason is due to why not? LMP would mean making the models etc whereas making a GT1 class is very close to the GTR’s we have now just with less power. We just need proper interiors, maybe a few body differences and more power = GT1 class.
Ofcourse it does, push the throttle down only a little amount and you will never go that fast. Now the speed achievable is dependant on a few things.
However I agree with other people that I would of expected him not to panic so much and be able to do something more than phone the police. No one knows how you would truely act under similar circumstances, I would hope most people, include me, on here would do one of the possible things to stop the car.
That is the way it came across but I assumed it was down to language. It would be almost impossible for any team to get enough drivers to drive 7 days straight. Where as something like MoE would be possible.
I also assume from what was said that the winner would be whoever has a time closest to 168 hours ( 7 days x 24 hours) as thats the time you would have if you won all events.
Can I have a pint of the blackstuff? No I don't mean Bovril
On the subject of whining/tool - While I personally am not really bothered about dev speed, I can understand people who do. I do not have any objection to people raising their opinions that the development is too slow, what I do think is a whining/being a tool is when someone starts a new thread about it, at which point they deserve all the flaming they get IMO.
Now more on topic: Knowing he quality of the previously released patches I am looking forward to the updates. I think like a few people I am not to interested in the Sirocco (I prefer SS and GTR) but new tyre physics sounds good to me.
Hmmm think the OP could of included metal in here too but meh.
Good timing for this thread considering they havej ust started announcing bands for download this year I tend to listen to bands like Metallica, Disturbed, Nonpoint through to the symphonic of Nightwish, Epica, Within Temptation, Seasons end, also bands like Sonata Arctica and Rhapsody which I suppose fits under power metal.
Agree with crashgate too - Metal metal as I call it lol, but just the basic tune, growling/screaming 'singing' I don't generally listen to as don't find any enjoyment listening to it.
I know very little about aerodynamics, but I put that down to the fact that Brawn/Force India relied more on mechanical grip than aero grip unlike Ferrari. Correct me if I am wrong though, I am interesting to know.
I am also of the opinion that F1 should be simpler (or more complicated, depends how you look at it.) Have the rule of no pit stops so the cars have to look after their tyres and carry all the fuel they need. Limit some parts of the designs, off the top of my head I am thinking wheel/tyre size, general dimensions of the car etc. Leaving lots upto the teams, like engine size upto the teams, so do they go for a larger engine and carry the extra fuel or smaller and carry less fuel? While some teams would get a head the others would find their own solutions, it would leave more room for initiative and some 'different' designs of car.
I don't think price is the problem really. For me personally I would pay double for LFS (e.g. £48) and even then, compared to Xbox 360 PS3 games I still have alot more enjoyment. Though if it doubled blackbird would you have paid $100? It is a problem that affects alot of little games I feel, initially you have a small tight knit community who know each other reasonably. This grows until there are too many people and the forums go a little off. While increasing the cost would stop some people buying it, you would still get people who spam/troll on the forum.
I personally feel that people might buy this game too quick nowadays. I played the demo for a couple of months before buying the game. By that time I understood that is was an alpha, a WIP, and that updates takes time. It would be interesting to find out but it seems to me the average age of lfs'ers has decreased and this immaturity and inability to wait causes alot of friction on these forums too.
That purely depends on how much attention you are paying. I say this because, taking blackwood for this example, you come out of the chicance onto the back straight. You are on the straight and you get blue flagged with the car 5 seconds behind. If you are not paying attention to lap times, how do you know how much faster he is than you? 5 seconds can either be alot of not much at all. If you joined mid race and the leader is only 0.5 secs quicker you could easily do a lap or 2 more before you need to think about places to let him past. However if you are a novice, maybe he gains at 2 seconds a lap at which point you have very little time. I say this because if you don't know how fast they are gaining you can only judge it from the mirrors as you go, at which point maybe he does catch you at a bad place on track.
Generally speaking, if you are ahead then drive normally until it is safe to let the lead driver through. If they suddenly gain on you under breaking then take a wide line leaving the inside of the corner open for them to pass.
It all comes down to common sense, racing etiquete and manners and through a mix of anonymity of the internet (manners) and people not knowing better (racing etiquette) it causes problems.
And finally, one thing that people should always remember in these situations is you can't talk to the other person, people have to 'read' the body language of the car which does involve risk and accidents do happen due to this. With public races there will be another in 5 mins and its a game (not a real highly expensive racing car) so relax.
I am willing to accept most answers as ways to improve but that thinking is outside the box for definate. Well so far out the box I think we need lerts back for his 'transdimensional umnbrella shaped wormhole portal' outside the box.
Since free reign stopped in F1 overtaking stopped. I agree ground effects can be dangerous but why not leave free reign on other factors. Restrict the engine to say N/A 2.5 L V8 and standard wheels/tyres but leave everything else to the teams.
Downloaded the DLC last night and playing about the Aston Martin and Raptor are fun. Though, drove the One-77 and it felt fast and was quick round the track, the Raptor felt slower and seemed it under acceleration (my ghost out of corners onto the straights always got away me) but I found it more stable and easier to push.
Not had chance to play around with some of the others yet, though I feel I need to paint the R8 with something
Is this one of the times that the company doesn't realise or was it intentional? Not sure though that they would want to make the pun to schindlers list though.
All thats making me laugh is the same as recent days. Looking out the window at work watching lots of people falling over. I know I shouldn't laugh but I do.
Agree with above. I am all for looking back at things and not worrying about what mighthave been or what might of happened. However avoiding an accident (or no one getting injured when an accident happens) is alot different in my book to deliberatly crashing then claiming that no one was hurt so its alright. Pre-planning causes unneccesary risk.
What I don't understand though is with the McLaren with Ferrari information (spygate wasn't it?) only a few were supposidly involved in that compared to Renault crashgate. Now while having technical information is different to purposeful crashing the punishment vary so much.
For me I preferred pick up and play quick races. Though the couples of leagues I have entered I have enjoyed and the mini inter team leagues I have done have been the best.
Agreed Zeugnimod. Also I will add (which I have said before) I love lfs, it is a great game which I have had many hours of fun from. Currently, partly due to lack of updates, I do not play but I accept the development speed and I go do other things. Yes it is slow but that is fine by me.
Bah -Baaaaaahhh - No one expects the Spanish inquisition!!!!
Would you kindly rephrase that. I speak for myself but I am sure I am not the only one. I am not pissed off at all about the development speed. I accepted it long ago and got on with other things.
I voted for "Development is a tad slow, but it'll be ready when its ready" While I think the development is a slow, I would rather wait a long time and have a bug free patch than one full of bugs because it was rushed.
There is no moral high ground. There is waiting patiently like alot of us knew we would have to, finding other things to do and keeping an eye of lfs for the updates of what is going on or new patches and then there is whining. Even if we have to wait 10 years, making a thread like this is not going to get it release any sooner.
Ah, good thinking that man. I never thought of that
