I wont join in on the Vettel bashing but if he doesn't win the championship this year, which I don't think he will, you would have to put a large part down to his mistakes (contacting with Webber, dropping too far from SC, this race.)

Overall the race was alirhgt, exciting with the weather changes and yet not so because apart from about 10 seconds of Hamilton in the gravel did it ever look like he was going to loose the race.

Some recent ones of my trip to the lake district.

I had forgotten I had left my camera on manual so this pic came out way too dark, but for some reason I still like it.

And my favorite of the whole trip.

All I can think of as a reply is: Haters gonna hate (or in this forums case, Whiners gonna whine is probably better.)

Nothing new I know but hopefully will quiet down some people for a little while. Maybe it is been so long but I don't remember that picture of rockingham before though, either way it looks good

I got my moneys worth out of halo 3 (it was free) as played it quite a bit online but not played any since. This looks like it could be interesting but I shall wait and see. If I do pick it up it it wont be until the price has dropped or a trade in.

Thanks for the tips guys. I know about the write speed though, as arco said though it will only be for my OS and maybe a few other programs. The 1tb hdd will be for storage and more normal use. Everything else looks fine then I assume?

Any final offers on a 230mm fan though? I am drawing a blank, though I will pop in to PC shop on way home to see if they have them.

Could there be more information around: Yes
Should the devs give us more news or a to do list: No.
Reason: They said they don't want to and they update when there is something to update. Thats the reason, accept it.

Quote from dadge :1) if the fan is mounted on the side in a pull (hot air out) then the extra holes mean nothing. same really if it's in push (cold air in). because it's close to the gpu, i would put it in push as the fan on the crd will suck cold air in and expel it at the back of the chasis.

Ah ok, i would have it as a push fan. So front and side would be push and top and back woule be exhaust

Quote from dadge :2) just to be sure, it would be best to get 3 pin fans.

Ok, I will have a look for a nice 3 pin fan

Quote from dadge :3) you could buy a 3pin fan splitter ( http://www.overclockers.co.uk/ ... atid=1428&subcat=1689 ) and have 2 fans controlled by one socket on the motherboard.

That is a good idea, will add it to my shopping list.

Thanks again dadge.

Right I think this is the final set up that my system will be but I got a few questions afterwards.

So here is my, hopefully, final spec

My questions are really regarding fans and cooling so firstly: My thinking is that with a case with so many possible fans I might as well fill them as fans aren't expensive and well why not. So, with the fact I am getting the cpu water cooler, I thought I could take off the rear exhaust fan and put my cpu fan in its place (maybe even use it for a push/pull though could be different fan speeds so I don't know how effective it would be?) Use the 120mm fan from the back on the side possibly unless I can find a 230mm one for the side. Finally put the Akasa fans in the front as intake fans (picked them as they have the highest air flow I could find on OC)

However my questions are as such
1) If I only put a 120mm fan on the side surely it is a bad thing to have all the reaming holes open? As I was thinking, if its a 120mm that does go on the side I could put a blanking plate over.
2) The akasa fan is 4 pin but from reading the motherboard manual they are 3 pin I think. So can I use those akasa fans or would I need to get a fan that runs on 3 pins?
3) Again from reading the motherboard manual, there doesn't appear to be enough fan sockets for all of these fans so could then be run directly from the PSU? (and therefore make question 2 redundant) I am aware if this is the case then they would run constantly which I don't mind.

I think that is it for now but thank you so so much for all your help so far guys.

Quote from dadge :i think coolermaster do 230mm fans. they have one on their HAF X chasis.

Their systems do say 230mm but all I can find as a single fan is 200mm. The case I am looking at can fit 230mm or 120mm on the side so if nothing else I will get a 120mm but thought if I can get a 230mm I might as well.

Ok, still haven't got this, still a couple weeks until I get my tax (assuming they are on time.) But does anyone know of anywhere I can get a 230mmx230mmx20mm case fan? As I can find a couple of sites in USA but that seems about it.

I am not by any means suggesting that the front wing is illegal as someone would of noticed. However, I have noticed how much lower the red bull front wing seems to the ground than the other teams. From memory, i thought there was still the rule that the wing has to be so high off the ground or has this rule since been removed?

Quote from Lible :And how exactly can you say that in this situation it wasn't like that and Massa was just reminded that 'Alonso was faster'. For reasons unknown to us Massa did the maneuver in this weird manner.

In the situation I was brining up, it wouldn't be an almost stop on track just to let your team mate through. It would be - if your team who is quicker makes a move don't defend your position. There is only a slight difference I know but there is a difference and thats the important thing.

With the Hamilton Heikki incident, without seeing the race footage and hearing the team radio you can't say it was a team order (though it may have been) I would suspect that it was a team agreement that "if either driver is faster and is behind then they will be able to pass without any defensive moves being made by the lead driver" or something along those lines. The problem with Ferrari is though that it was an order and the pass was obvious. If Massa had of slowed a little earlier meaning alonso could of got a tow into the hairpin, gone to the inside and Massa didn't defend. Then it could of been argued it was a true pass just Massa didn't fight too hard because it was his team mate.

The fine they received though is ridiculous, so little money for a team like Ferrari.

Quote from 5haz :Anyway a Ferrari deserved to win today, it was the wrong Ferrari!

Agree on both counts. Ferrari should be punished for team orders, whether that be the drivers DQ or a fine etc I don't know. The problem is for me is that if it was a simple Massa didn't fight Alonso's pass then ok their teammates but it was the blatent not accelerate out of the corner to let Alonso past. Also the team radio is pretty damning in my opinion. The do you understand comment and apologising just proves it was an order.

Overall reasonable race though, will be good to see if Ferrari can stay at the front and really battle Red Bull and McLaren.

Thanks for the help guys. I have it all working now I don't know what the problem is with the 2 I tired earlier but I 'borrowed' my sisters xp cd and it has worked, so it must be something with the cd's

Quote from NotAnIllusion :If you get the "press any key to boot from CD/ROM" the CD is bootable, so if it doesn't boot when you press a button at that prompt, the CD has issues I guess. The XP install only requires a valid CD-key anyways. You could obtain a backup copy, burn it and try that.

I have tried their xp cd and mine and neither gives the option of press any key. I can think of a few other people who I could get another cd off to try but I can't see it being any different.

Quote from dadge :EDIT: note to self. read all of the post.
sorry about that. you might want to check to make sure your keyboard is enabled during the post process. same again, in the bios. i think it's "halt on all (but keyboard) the keyboard might be USB and if so, would also need to be enabled. what you could do, is compltely remove the hdd from the boot order. see what happens then.

Reading does help lol. I was using my keyboard which is USB but I found an old one which isn't so I plugged that in the remove any possible issues there. I will try and see what happens if I remove the hdd from the bios and see what happens.

I know how it should work, I have done it few times to mine over the years. It is the fact it doesn't that is confusing me. Yes it is XP already installed. I have just tried using my xp cd and it still doesn't work. When I boot up it comes up with 'Boot from CD' but it doesn't and then loads xp from the hard drive.
Boot windows xp from cd (doesn't work)

Hi there.

I am trying to re-format and re-install xp onto a PC however I cannot get it to boot from the CD. I have checked the CD drive works, The windows CD can be opened once XP has loaded but if I select install windows it errors with "Setup cannot continue because the version of Windows on your computer is newer than the version on the CD." I assume from this the CD is readable and physically checking there appear to be no major scratches. I have also checked the BIOS that CD is before HDD which it is.

Does anyone know of another way to get windows to boot from the CD?

Thanks, Greboth.

Quote from dadge :i got mine a few weeks ago. the bank didn't even have time to count it lol. i got £866. £450 went on my pc and the rest went on to my DJ setup . who said being raped by the tax man doesn't pay eh hehehe.
let me know your final spec list bud.

I am not sure how much I am owed in total but its over 1k so I am happy

The spec will be pretty much what you posted Dadge I am looking around at RAM and HDD's so they might change but the rest will be as you posted

Ah ok so the 2 ports they list are going to be the ones at the front more than likely. I see, well the cooler the better anyway and for £17 it isn't really an expensive item and saves having to change it at a later date.

If my maths is correct, without delivery it comes to a grand total of £889.93 which is at the top of my budget but seems to be worth it.

Thank you so much dadge It is times like this I wish this forum had a rep points system.

Now comes the horrible period of waiting for my tax rebate to come through so I can order it all

Quote from dadge :but yeah, my list includes a psu so all is needed is a case and an OS. your current system has an operating system, which one is it? you could use it too on the new system

Sorry, was tired and didn't notice about the psu. That makes the price increase to a complete new pc cheaper. At the moment I am running XP 32bit. I was thinking about updated to 7 but I not fully looked into 7 to see what is like.

Quote :to make room for the price of a chasis, lose one set of ram leaving you with 4GB. put that in with your current ram (if they are of the same spec) and your rocking with 6GB. giving you a saving of £59.98
if you stick to AMD and you luck out on already having an AM2+ board then you've also saved £88.99 on a new motherboard. i went for gigabyte because of its features. the board is very durable. but you can get cheaper boards.

I don't need 8gb of ram so I could get by with 4 and with ram so easily upgradable I could upgrade in a few months with another 4gb. Unfortunately I don't luck on the motherboard so I will have to get a new one.

Quote :With the cpu you have good options. you could drop the 1090T processor and go for the 955. this will save you about £100 but you lose 2 cores. now, with that saving, i would then opt for the 965. still a quad core but it's AMDs best quad. and it's only £20 more than the 955. also the 1055T chip is only £30 more than the 955 mentioned. but you're back on 6 cores. the only down side would be that it's not a black edition which means it would be harder to overclock. if you don't do overclocking, go for the 1055T. if you overclock, go for the 965quad. both chips will save you from £80-100 from the list i provided.

I have run an overclocked system before, but was a while back. From looking at some reviews the CPU you suggested can easily be overclocked so I am now thinking if it has got the possibility to then why not. With the CPU though I notice you listed a CPU heatsink / fan but reading the description to the Phenom II it comes with one already so it necessary to buy another one? or it is a case fo the standard one isn't that good?

Can anyone suggest a decent priced case too? Having had a look at the ones on overclockers it seems that they come with only 2 usb whereas mine current machine has 6 which are all used

Haha how could I forget the RAM. Thanks for the help so far You have definately given me something to think about in updating the PC I have. As I haven't decided which to do, for a complete system what you recommend? The reason I ask is adding a case, psu etc to your above list goes way way over budget.

Thank you so much for your help though dadge.

My current system from memory as I can't check at the moment is: Winfast motherboard, 3Ghz AMD Athlon, 2gb ram, 100gb hdd and 128mb nvida gfx and stretching my memory a random brand 600w psu. It was original my pc but has become the family pc now so my idea is leave it as it is and get a new machine for me.

I understand your point of view regarding optical drives and hdd etc but I was planning on taking my dvd drive and nearly all my personal documents are on my external hdd anyway but its almost full so I don't mind more storage.

In terms of building a pc I have no problem putting one together but I am a complete newb when it comes to parts. If I was building it, the minimum I could get away with would be: Case, PSU, Motherboard, CPU, GFX card, Sound card, Network card, CPU cooler, Fan(s), thermal compound and hdd. Taking my dvd drive would do and I could always pick up another in the future. I think that is everything I would need though but as for what actual combo of parts to get in my budget I have to admit I have no idea.
