In NZ anyway, there is no VR. No real retail, competition etc. And if you read what I said, It's the fact that VR isn't NEEDED for gaming at the moment. Yes its nice, yes its still being developed, and yes, it still has a long way to go.

Clearly Codemasters feel the same and believe that they will sell enough product without the need to support a still emerging tech.

I'm just happy that they are still trying to produce a decent Rally game, with weather, good physics, and immersion.
I'm much happier with that being the outcome personally.

For those of you that feel that its VR or nothing, more power to you.

Linus is also known as an avid hater of VR for whatever reason. VR is pretty cool, but needs probably 1 more generation to be truly great.


When their predecessor supported VR (which means they have decent engine support for it), the lack of VR is just weird/silly.

Looks good, Codemasters seem to be focussed on an actually rally sim. As the last great rally sim was Colin MacRay, untold years ago, much credit to them for trying to create a great rally sim.

When other racing sims (including first version of Dirt Rally) support VR, omitting it is a huge blunder. Sim racing is already pretty niche as an activity, so catering to that niche is important.

10 years since race results.

i walk through the empty streets trying to think of something else but my path always leads to race standings.

i stare at the screen for hours and try to summon thilo. i race other events but it is no good. i look at the iracing renew subscription page and try to resist the promise of instant results but it is all meaningless.

the end is near.i then usually watch some old race vods and cry myself to sleep.

No VR = No buy

Just for future info (if you're so inclined) you could have shift + P and rejoined. Telepitting was permitted , you'd just lose 1 lap.

I was looking forward to you and joaofrs continuing as you two were going to be my most likely competitors for finishing position. probably not much door to door racing, but some interesting strategy. My last 45 minutes felt kind of meaningless and I made a lot of stupid mistakes as all I had to do was "finish".

Managed to get some decent pace but R3's weren't the best tyre choice, they became very thin at 45ish minutes, and my first mistake was to adjust the F12 menu whilst on the last turn. The pitstop failed completely, I miscalculated fuel, forgot to remove tyre pressure when I switched to R4, and cooked my clutch leaving pits. It teared my motivation apart. What finally broke the spirit was a lapped car clipping me in T1 resulting in me losing my spot and 20 seconds.

I won't go as far to name and shame anyone, but you guys should be more aware of your surroundings and the size of your car and the lines people take into corners. I almost got shut in the beginning laps even though I have my front wheel overlapped so far that I would have the right to inside line. Almost got taken out by a lapped car that suddenly in a side-by-side situation closes in on me, which could've ended up far worse.

There were some good battles though, altough a bit short. Thanks for hosting the race, see you all on round 2, I'll come prepared next time.

I watched the replay and a few people did mute messages.. so the green flag wasn't seen by some.

Vulkan also isn't a silver bullet and support is lacking for users of older GPUs (which is a reasonable part of LFS' target market).

You need an AMD GPU that supports GCN or a pretty modern nVidia GPU. Intel AFAIK has 0 Vulkan support.

Even on my fairly recent laptop, I had to recompile my kernel to enable experimental support for the AMDPRO driver to be able to support Vulkan.


Open Source is also not a silver bullet to improvign a project.

I think the level of polish contributes too. Tracks like Blackwood/Westhill/RO currently look much much better (and different) compared to SO/FE so there's a certain amount of "identity" just in the difference in resolution. Where all the tracks are getting upgraded to a relatively similar standard of quality.

Only downside is that we don't have a car small enough for smallest karting track. MRT5 doesn't make a very good kart
