I've done about five hours now. If you've played Fallout 1 or 2 you won't be disappointed - they have done a good job of keeping the Fallout feel to the story and game world. It's almost the same game but in 1st person. While character interaction can be compared to oblivion, it's actually very much closer to Fallout 1 & 2, with multiple choice options producing an effect on your Karma. The characters are more individual and have more to say than in Oblivion. There is less repetition in the dialogue. There's a fair bit of swearing so if you are offended by modern language this game will certainly offend you.
I've had a few crashes and the odd bug (not recurring as yet) but nothing that I don't get with oblivion too.
The entire concept of iRacing as a product seems to be to satisfy the insatiable greed of the developers. It's a good sim, but is tainted by the outrageous cost, especially if you want a decent amount of content. They've ruined a good thing by being greedy. I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I refuse to participate in it even though I can afford it. The cost is ridiculous if you look at the long-term outlay.
It's not all always about harm. If a fly is buzzing around your face it isn't doing anybody any harm, but if it persists in buzzing around your face you just want it gone.
I earn about AUD$1000 per week. But after putting a roof over the family's head, and feeding them and the dog, paying for petrol, rego, and insurance for two cars, health cover, contents insurance, household bills, gaffer tape, dozens of small marsupials and hired the dwarf etc, 99 bucks hurts a lot, especially for a purchase that has a limited life span and you don't even know if you are going to like it until you've opened it and used it.
I've blown thousands on crap games over the years. Thank the Gods that LFS has been such great value and I got to try it out before I made my purchasing decision, and all at a very reasonable cost too.
When the winner crosses the line everyone else is now on their last lap. If you fail to cross the line on the last lap, you're out. DNF = did not finish.
45 Euro = AUD$81.00. Plus postage to Oz and it comes out about the same.
The console version is retailing for $119 (EB Games) and the PC version for $99. They said they'd beat any price I could find, even if I find a cheaper price in the next week or so they will refund the difference. The thing that gets me though is in six months time the game will be $49.95 in the bargain bin. If game companies want to stop piracy they should start working on their price tag.
I'm actually a really happy guy. I have a great family life, flexible working hours with good pay and no daily dramas. Drop 'round for a beer some time.
It doesn't matter even if you don't start with a default skin. As long as your image fits the requirements (as posted above) it should work just fine. Your skins should be JPG files. If you have created DDS files and want to upload them to LFS World you will need to convert them to JPG or make JPG versions.
Open your DDS file in your graphics software and save or export as a JPG. Make sure the file size is less than 400KB (if too large use some compression). If your DDS files are bigger than 1024 x 1024 pixels they will not be uploaded.
When you're ready put your JPG skins into your LFS/data/skins folder. This is the folder where all of your own skins should live. LFS will make a DDS copy automatically from the JPG, so you don't need to worry about converting them yourself.
Make sure your file is a JPG file and that it is 1024 x 1024 pixels in size.
Also make sure the name starts with the correct car prefix (XRT_, for example) and that the file name is not too long.
Yes you are correct, though this topic has been posted several times and usually ends in tears. So while it may seem unfair, please excuse the attitudes of some members towards topics like this.
Despite the trouble you seem to have had with the search feature, please try again and post in one of the existing topics (if they haven't all been locked by now). Thanks for understanding.
I loved the first two games, it's a bit of a pity in a way that the new game is in first person, I think you lose the feel of the old games, though it does seem like they have tried to remain true to the original concept. I'll probably buy this one.
Actually, many of us despise the union jack being part of the flag, but since we are still a part of the Commonwealth it remains there. Burn the flag I say!
We don't call them shrimp, they're called prawns, but Hoges had to say "shrimp" in the tourism ad aired in the US because it was decided that the word "prawn" would not mean anything to the yanks.
Hardly any Aussie drinks Fosters either as it is considered to be on par with goat's piss. Most punters would rather crack open a slab of almost any other brand of the amber fluid.
Anyways, there's a few too many jumbucks in me tucker bag so I'm off to the thunder box to give birth to a big brown baby boy.
The skins in LFS are horizontally 'compressed' too. There is no exact ratio to use as all cars are a bit different and the stretching is not uniform along the length of the whole car. But as a rough guide stretch the image to 2560 x 2048, then make your changes and additions, then resize it back to 2048 x 2048. Having said all of that, the wheel arches are not round anyway, so you've still got a bit of work to do to make a smooth curvature around them. In essence you'll still be following the shape of the polygons on the 3D model.
It only caused a scandal when the British press got tired of seeing Ferrari and the great Michael Schumacher win again and again and again.
Take a long hard look at the F1 press, they mostly thrive on negativity and drama. Good racing is boring for them to report about. They want to see human beings being dragged down and kicked for whatever reason. Backstabbing whiners, the lot of them. The F1 magazines are full of hype and false drama, live commentary is often polluted with wild speculation and bias. It's getting difficult to enjoy the media coverage these days while there's a bunch of dicks running around trying to start personal and political fires just so they've got something 'newsworthy' to publish.
