Religion has been the root cause of innumerable bloody murders in man's history. It is evil, QED.

Thank God Britain has mostly abandoned religion

Not really, I've always thought of computer games and poetry as being mutually exclusive

Add-line is prose, since it lacks structure

Proper poetry should be a window to thoughts an emotions, not just an account of something you did.

Anything with a line such as "I found an AI in my way" should be torn up and flushed down the toilet; valid prose could be something like

The lines and curves of digital asphalt blur with reality,
My pulse quickens in the heat of battle,
But all is lost in a cloud of smoke,
The course shreek of tyres pulls me back to the digital domain.

Now get that stick out of your backside and try thinking about what you're writing.

There once was fan of LFS,
Who liked it too much I guess,
When cornering at speed,
He got excited and peed,
Then his DFP was in a mess.

Meh, guess I'm not a snob, not only do I not line up with the thinking of the article but I love my old XBox 1 - you just don't get 4 drunk friends round a PC laughing at how badly each other are doing ...

Yes, as used on Triumphs from the '60s

Quote from March Hare :And this is what happens to the ones with leafs

The scratchbuilt (or for UK trials classes 'prototype') does have a teensy advantage over the production based Jeep there, lol.

I must admit, I don't 'get' prototypes; at the point where there's no recognisable body (unlike, say, Formula Off Road), it seems the point is lost (that said, I also don't get single-seater racecars).

I've had about 60 cars over the years, of which about half have been 'beyond economic repair' on the MOT at some point, and been scrapped (I think that counts as 'worn out' rather than destroyed, lol), 10 or so have been racecars that I sold on, and another 10 or so were bought as scrap and used for parts (which is destroying!).

I've never crashed a car beyond repair though

I'm guessing from the way that thats worded, you're on about overlanding, ie. high speed trail driving, rather than trials, where getting over the terrain is the challenge rather than going fast ... in trials solid axles will do the job better than independant suspension.

The HiLux and Ram pictured are stock. All the models I mentioned (and more) are capable of a similar amount of off-roading as a Land Rover Defender when stock - the Jimny is probably capable of more thanks to its shorter wheelbase and much lighter frame. Saying the wheels are to small at 15" is a misnomer, its the tyre height/width thats increased, not the diameter of the wheel.

Got it, and mostly it does feel just like the original NFS to drive, especially when you crash No technical troubles, I'm playing on low detail 800x600 and getting about 30fps ... and no on-line lag (yay for cable internet ).

I think it would be nice to have some slower cars, or be able to run around in the AI's cars - would be a laugh to drive a fire truck about!

Quote from March Hare :Hilux has IFS and has leafs on the rear. Forgot Jimmy, sorry. Jeep is scraping plastic and chrome on the rocks. Dodge Ram gets high centered and uses leafs on the rear and the 1/2 tonner has IFS.

Man I would almost kill for a 300tdi defender 90. Maybe I should move to Scotland...

Edit: Maybe you are thinking about greenlaning? For that all of them will do. But driving seriously off-road needs a solid front axle for starters.

Go look up rock crawling setups - the ideal for that is over 2 feet of flex (plus a lobster transfer case, proper tyres etc), the vehicles I listed are capable of that with minor mods, and are respectable when stock.

Piccy of new Jeep set up for serious off roading
Piccy of new HiLux doing serious off roading
Piccy of Suzuki off roading
Piccy of Dodge Ram off roading.

See what I mean? (yes, the Ram isn't ideal because its on the big side, but that aside its very respectable)

Quote from March Hare :But nowadays the Land Rovers are the only vehicles capable of off-roading bone stock.

Rubbish, Toyota HiLux, Suzuki Jimny, Jeep Wrangler, Dodge Ram 4x4 ... just off the top of my head, those are capable off-roaders right off the showroom floor. Most of the flash SUVs can run off road just fine, its just that people don't.

I've had a couple go, its now the first part I change when buying a car, and I purposefully only buy non-interference engines ... but its uncommon to see failure on a racecar since the belt(s) would be changed during any full teardown.

Should be getting it on Saturday

Having watched the movies etc when out on the roads it, ironically, reminds me most of the original NFS game ... that was great fun, weaving through traffic trying to shake the police and stay ahead of the AI driver I wonder where my NFS 1 disc went
