I like www.orneryboy.com (Zombie suburbia adventures) and www.dieselsweeties.com (human-robot relationships)

Some of those on xkcd.com are good, many arn't though ... must be hard to be consistent when making cartoons!

Quote from mikey_G :But I guess not a lot of tracks would mind free licensing. I think the main prob is closing the track and measuring every cm of it, which cost a lot of time, and time is money.

Most smaller tracks in the UK have a restriction on how many days they can have racing taking place, or can only open on weekends, so thats not necesarily a problem

If using a multi-layer file like the PSD templates you need a serious graphics program

Like the Gimp etc, as listed above ...

Like I mentioned in the 'real life track licensing' thread, real tracks grow 'organically', after being built around the landscape they're often tweaked over the years giving quirks and a feel that can't be created from scratch.

Ambient surroundings are a big part of this too, not just big stuff like buildings nearby, but decommisioned bits of old track, buildings that started out for one purpose and have been converted for something else or are now in the infield and disused etc.

So just uninstall it then reinstall it, paying attention to the path it chooses

Not so much a case of not knowing, more a case of not wanting to hold someone's hand through every step of using a computer. Use Windows Explorer to create a shortcut to the Framework executable.

Whatever you use, you need to go through the program's beginners tutorials so you know how to use it before starting on a skin Everything you need to know can be found here or on the Master Skinners site, its just sitting there waiting to be read

Ah right, thanks

Tristan - its not unusual to see them in any full bodied car, I find it handy in long fast corners as well as when going through tight transitional corners where you're spinning the wheel. One of my cars has 3 turns lock-to-lock and the other has 2 1/2.

Wish I had one of these:

EDIT: ok, I've given this a bash, really good work, 100% improvement over stock

Very nice, any reason for leaving off the indicator line at the top though?

I find it handy in real life, doesn't really matter in LFS though I guess ...

Quote from mrodgers :"Studies show that people who play racing computer games are more aggressive behind the wheel and have more accidents."

Quote from JamesK :The fact that its an unsubstantiable study won't stop those who hate computer games from siting it

I'm thinking of taking up fortune telling

Audi list windows being open as costing 5% reduction in MPG and aircon as 6%; I was watching the Top Gear earlier where they got 40mpg from a 6 litre V8 twin-turbo diesel ...

Quote from Solar Hydro :This Prius vs Hummer article has been substantially debunked; check priuschat.com if you care.

Oh yes, its full of holes, but as the driver of a 100% recycled car I recon the underlying theory is sound

oh well, I got halfway through it in 1983 then switched over. Havn't heard anyone I know talk about it ever since, apart from my other half, who is an Abba fan

Why don't you have a go at doing it yourself? the original C2 skins aren't complex, an ideal thing to start skinning with

There's a buttload of tracks out there that wouldn't charge to be put in a game, Snetterton is just one. Whats a good reason for having real tracks? Because unlike ones made by an artist, real life tracks can be unballanced and have bits that are a bitch to get round quickly - they evolve around the land where they're built in an organic manner.

Take the corkscrew at Laguna Secca, nobody would have made that up. Also, I loved driving Riverside in Nascar Legends, that doesn't exist any more so sim driving is as close as anyone will now get to it now!

What less cruel techniques are there? In Europe cattle are killed with a bolt through the brain ... quick and painless. Apart from the fact that quite often the animal doesn't die from the bolt and is still conscious when its put up and disembowled.

I used to work as a butcher and was involved in most stages of meat preparation - the most humane method is Halal, where the animal bleeds to death, basically it feels the cut but then falls asleep. I don't think you can easily do that with a Dolphin though ...

The video shows unacceptable treatment of animals, but there's no perfect way to kill. Where's the videos of hunters winging animals and condemning them to a slow death? That happens in almost all countries.

As for saying 'Dolphins are different', why? If its ok to eat cats, dogs, horses etc, why not Dolphins?

Quote from Julppu :It's always easier and cheaper for companies to produce stuff that uses old school fuels (and technologies for that matter). From what I've gathered in 27 or so years, nothing will ever truly change until something horrible and irreversible happens suddenly. I believe oil will be pretty much used up until substitutes can realistically take over.

There are environmentally sound substitutes, Hybrids aren't though. Check the article HERE
