On a side note, a 1/4 mile bullring (symetric oval) on dirt would be great for practising drifting technique

Quote from Madman_CZ :Ahh another truck fan I see! I am proud to own that game and still play it frequently

I don't have that game, but I did used to enjoy watching truck racing on the TV when it was on ... and I played 18 Wheeler on Dreamcast to death

Would be nice to have a truck in LFS ... I guess the collision handling needs fixing first, lol

Quote from v4forlife :you could always just go get a real car.

My first racecar was equivalent to a UF1000 (1975 Mini 1000), it cost £30

There's a few oval layouts for the Autocross course, they work pretty well (I know its not banked, but does the job )

Quote from tristancliffe :Assuming it's a 12V supply, 400W means the fan is drawing 33A, which is just silly. I doubt any computer fan ever drew 33A... So think before hitting the keyboard.

Perhaps he's thinking that to run that setup you need a 400W PSU (?)

Otherwise, it brings a new meaning to being blown away by your PC

Quote from l1k3z0mg :Here is our website/forum..

Thats gotta be the first widescreen website I've seen

On a side note, is a team name thats "VD" for short going to be terribly popular? I can see you've put effort in, but I'm guessing most people won't want to be associated with Venerial Disease ...

Quote from Scrabby :just get a Porsche 944 and let it chiptune to 300hp waaaay better

Completely different car, lol. There's no comparison.

944s can be cheap to own and run and CAN be reliable ... cheap, fast, reliable - choose any two!

The VX220 is an Elise under the bodywork, they handle very well and the N/A should have enough oomph for most people

Not what floats my boat, but if you're after a sports car this is one of the best for non-lottery money

Given it a go, its good, for what looks like a symetric layout there's variety in the corners

Quote from tristancliffe :LFS is a safe, cheap way to practice and hone skills

Yes, I've used Tweak and setups to resemble one of my cars; firing it up and pointing it at an Autocross track is helping me get an idea as to which gear to use in which kinda corner etc, without scrubbing off tyres (at £70 a pop its saving me money ).

Its a simulation, a mathematical representation of an occurance in real life. To be an accurate simulation it should accurately represent the choices faced by real life crew chiefs. The available options are beyond those available to F1, rally, Nextel or even LeMans prototype teams ...

Plus you don't get the fun of the Wii controller

The PS1 was £300 at launch, which was horrifically expensive - I remember someone getting one and we all took the mickey 'cause he could have got a PC that could handle Doom for the money ... happy days

There's no legal justification for this. A while back Mopar did something similar, but they were after money making sites using the Mopar M symbol etc, but thats different since its trademake infringement etc.

Sounds like Ford's legal department needs to be taught that you can't censor people's thoughts!

Ditto that!

Yes, we have lots of good music in Europe, but the good bands wouldn't volunteer to be in it, lol

Quote from KeiichiRX7 :Head over to your locl Auto cross met and you'll see lots of cars with no Roll Cage

Only in club level stuff, the old 'showroom stock' Solo 2 competition autocross required a rollcage.

Even with considerable modification you can't adjust by the amounts/increments LFS has, not by a long shot! As an example look at the Baby Grand cars; they have a custom motorsport hot-swap diff setup, but only have a half-dozen or so final drive ratios to choose from.

Well, my cars are in the galleries here:

My 'light' project is THIS ONE, I'm currently switching it over to 5-bolt hubs, lowering it and am halfway through reconing a head for it. If all goes well next year it'll be running 15psi of boost rather than the stock 7psi.

The 'big' project is just a shell now, so not much point posting it up; they're a good cheap alternative to the V8s I used to have, especially with today's petrol prices!

I grew up in the middle of nowhere, used to earn money by washing farmer's wives cars (the farmers didn't care about their 4x4s, lol).
