Thanks for clearing that up, I've always called the 'auxilliery drivebelt' a fanbelt, thats what I meant Smile

Different cars have different combinations of things on their belts, I managed to drive a car to work and back with no alternator/belt for a month, just running off the battery (took a spare with me and recharged overnight), and that was what I was thinking of in my first post in this thread Wink

Cambelt breakage would come as part of engine damage anyway, I guess its up to the devs as to how they want to treat water pumps - perhaps the track-built cars would have one thats driven direct from the engine, or maybe an electric pump, either way if you loose the water pump you could maybe make it halfway round most tracks before frying the engine beyond repair - imagine trying to limp back to the pits with steam soming out the bonnet Smile

Quote from wheel4hummer :You can't drive without a fan belt.

ROFL, thats priceless ... its not 1960 any more, these days the fanbelt doesn't drive the fan, just the alternator and sometimes the power steering pump.

You want the arcade version, rather than the PC port of it (they even ported it to the C64, which was funny at 1 frame every 2 seconds)

I think its fine. How about fanbelt breakage too? So you can run for a lap or two off the battery, but with the ammeter gradually going down

Quote from Michael Denham :if you want to compete, it's going to cost you a lot more than that...

... unless you race something like Mardave cars, which are made for racing not posing with

I used to be into large scale stuff (gave up when I realised I could race a real car for the same amount of money), but to be honest you can have more fun with an indoor circuit and a full grid of 1/12 scale electric cars - and if you break them the bill will likely be £5 rather than £500.

Personally, if I were into serious competition I'd be practising in a local car park rather than running an expensive sim, but each to their own

Unfortunately the LFS graphics engine won't support this; its been suggested many times

Quote from danowat :Sounds like you have the wrong sim, rFactor is that way -->

NFS is right, rFactor's LEFT ... GPS playing up?

Anywho, having fired Screamer 4x4 up again I can safely say its everything I want from an off-road sim ... it has a mix of trail and trials driving and a nice mix of 4x4s with a Unimog and Rama 6x6 truck for 'serious' use Now if someone could update it, that would be very cool!

Environmentally destructive cars such as battery/hybrids are sold to numpties on the grounds that they're good for the environment, so racing them would never garner more buyers - they are mutually exclusive markets

Fair enough

Maybe Jamexing would like to contribute some posts about CVT being superior or something

Thanks for the link! I'll probably not be on LFS for a while now, lol

Shame Screamer 4x4 won't run on new PCs, that was a great offroad sim, and had a big truck as well as the regular 4x4s.

Seems like this is a roundabout way of asking for stuff thats been asked for before, the 'career' and 'tuning' elements of games. Some further derivatives of the existing cars would be nice, lots would be redundant.

You should get out more then, for sure

Surely if you get an email from a Yahoo account pretending to be something official, and believe it, you're better off retiring from life altogether!

lol, this is just so funny ... Jamexing is good at sticking his fingers in his ears and going "la la la la I can't hear you!"

I don't think he's managed to read and understand any post in opposition to his own so far. Good try though, Eeekie

Yeah, your work itself is good, its just backwards flames is wierd, and the Fiat Tipo is closer to the XFG so using it in an XRT 'drift' skin is even more wierd!

The simple solution is often the best ...

Sondre - what I mentioned will work, but the Tweak program is only for S2 licensed users

Quote from Bob Smith :So, James, what you're infact saying is, that we can't either. Also body modifications will be never be allowed in LFS Tweak so I don't know what you're actually going on about either.

Its easy enough to use tweak to make the XRG drive like the XRT, then to all intents you have an XRT without fender flares and rear wing
