Because of the extra amount of work (that wouldn't benefit most players and the sim) I can't see this ever coming. But I know what you mean.
There are some .PSD pro-kit skin templates over at the MasterSkinnerz web site. Those help you line up the transitions in the body panels and make life a little bit easier when skinning.
I haven't got links, but google is your friend. evil
I found (personally) that the grip in DiRT was way way way over exaggerated. You could stop on a dime in the gravel and the cars had grip in the dirt like they were on tarmac or rail-raod tracks :/
I had to download a physics mod for DiRT (realistic car Handling mod) to reduce the grip by about 35% before it started to behave somewhat vaugely like a real car would in the dirt.
Yes true. Still if I got like 400mS ping I'll start warping around the track a bit. Most people say 'you're jumping around a lot', some say 'you're lagging' which is technically incorrect. Calling it lag, yes lazy of me. Sry
Oh there are plenty of servers, just most of the time there are only like 3 players racing. Some peak times have 15 or more playing, but most of the time it's empty.
I am 59 mS from Sydney. I do get hassled in Euro servers for lagging. Usually when I am higher in the field. I have to drive less agressivley and make sure I allow for lag in braking and passing.
If I stay at the back of the field no-one cares
Nothing can be done about this. Unless you want to move to Europe or just play Aus servers.
It might be different with your logitech distributer. Personally I bought mine from a shop that offers (extended) 5 year full replacement warranty on the G25.
12 months standard warranty on all other Logitech products. But like I said, it's different depending on where you bought it from.
You know it only costs like 44cents to mac a Big Mac don't you? 1000% markup. Like any company, logitech are there to make money, not make people happy.
They 'could' do what most companies do and charge you for returning goods on warranty. So they are not so bad completely. BTW, I think the G25 is worth every cent. Try build one yourself, you would want $2000 for your time and labour.
H-Gated shifters and clutch sets were over $2500 when I first got into gaming. So $330 AUD G25 is a bargin in my books.
It's a warranty claim on a broken G25. Logitech require proof that you destroy your old one because it's cheaper than getting it shipped back and repaired.
I had thought about that, I thought (had hoped) that maybe the new setting in the profiler Allow Game To Adjust Settings might monitor the settings for changes in the registry.
But alas no, I just plugged in the wheel and made a reg key to change it to 40 degrees max lock, and it never took the reg setting to the FFB until I opened the Global Device Settings (which read the new reg entry and updated the dialog box settings- see attached) and then closed the dialog box and the wheel sprung around to 40 degrees. So yeak, you're right, it doesn't poll the driver when you force edit the registry. But it does keep the changes and reloads them into the profiler when you open it up so it sort of half-arsed worked
Biotch
e: So the dialog screen reads the registry, but any ideas how to maybe tell the driver to rescan the reg? -Maybe not?
I am bumping this thread because I think there might be a solution to it. I was messing about with Logitech DXTweak 2.0 the other day. I was also looking through the registry editor and noticed there was some settings for the G25 setup. Noticed a setting for Degrees of lock that was set to 720. (Same as what I last set my max lock to)
I haven't got my wheel connected to test some things since I am installing a new rig , but I thought I might mention this in case someone wants to experiment to see if they can make a registry script to edit the max degrees of lock on the fly. If that was possible then you would only need to call a .bat file from LFS to edit the degrees of lock on the G25 automatically, and the .bat could be called when you change to specific cars.
The reason why front USB sockets sometimes work less reliably is because the cables running from the motherboard to the front USB sockets are sometimes cheap quality and have less shielding so the signal can pick up electrical interferance.
If you have a good internal cable and it is connected correctly then the speed will be the same. Unless you have a really old motherboard and it only has on-board USB 1.0. Then in that case you might have a PCI USB 2.0 card that has sockets to the back or front which may give a differnt USB speed. But this is not usually why front USB sockets are less reliable.
The main reason why I always suggest trying a different socket is for several reasons:
+The USB socket might be internally damaged.
+The socket connection to the motherboard might be warped/cracked/dry joint
+The USB mobo circuit for that connector may be faulty
Good you figured it out. At least it was only a cheap part of the PC.
@raptor. Very strange issue there. Here's something to try. Try the mouse on a different matt coloured surface. Sometimes strange textures on surfaces makes an optical mouse mouse do weird things.
Also try your mouse on another PC to rule out Windows/Motherboard. It may be just messed up with the signal sent from the mouse, ie: new mouse
If you wanna see them that bad before buying there is always CMX viewer. I don't think myself that the extra work involved would go towards sales, but I am no salesman. If you're targeting players who care more about the way it looks, then you will loose them on any preview features beacause I don't imagine LFS will look good as the latest NFS:FU title
The other group will buy it regardless how it looks because they know the physics are more important in a sim.
Maybe someone could do a flash preview of each car because I don't imagine devs spending time on this, my 2c
e: Have you got an example of a 3d car viewer on another car game website ?
Sounds like a hardware issue, not a software issue.
Is it wirelsee, PS/2 or USB mouse? Brand and model if possible. Batteries flat? Bad connection, break in the cable?
Try another USB socket in the back, try the one's on the front instead of the back as well.
Try another USB device in the same socket as the mouse is in to test it.
Can you lend a mouse from somewhere else to try that out?
Can you try your mouse in another computer?
Sounds like the mouse might be dying or the cable is damaged, depends what sort of mouse it is though. Maybe it's just not pushed in properly at the connection, reboot if it's a PS/2 mouse and you are reconnecting it.
hmmm never noticed anything wrong at my end with lag, or even a funny feeling in the mouse as you have described. Is it possible you are not used to such a large real estate on screen so you are moving the mouse around more and this gives you the funny feeling? Just a thought.
I know myself sitting about 2 feet from the viewing panel that moving the mouse from left to right requires I move my head to see it, so it feels a little wierd, in a spacial awareness way.
Anyway I can try something to get this lag effect to happen? I've felt this way when the mouse battery was dying and it starts to lag and respond less through the wireless.
Sorry, the CSR sounds are not at all compatible with this thread's LFS sound engine (shift-A) .eng files.
The reason is, CSR uses sounds samples that are quite long .wav files, some up to 500KB, 3-4 seconds.
On the other hand, the .wav files you can import into LFS and make up .eng sounds are a lot smaller - around 10KB only around 0.2 seconds, very short bursts. Click the [S] button in the Shift-A menu in LFS you will see what files are required when you export a .wav from the LFS engine editor.
