No,

I once hacked a save file in Wolf3d and it game me 999 bullets and side-effect was wall hack.

Just because the barrier bug was fixed in that video, doesn't mean collisions with other solid objects still works fine nor multiplayer, many things could be messed up.... meh.

Anyone _KNOW_ if the G27 will have different base and mounting size? If I buy one I want it to fit my custom rig made for G25. Also the Shifter module, will it be a different size? My handbrake is placed specifically to accomodate the G25 shifter size.

Believe me, I would like nothing more than damage and collision bugs fixed of course. I think it has been put to the bottom of the to-do list because it doesn't effect race-track racing, I mean, normal racing doesn't use barriers so it's not so important to fix it ASAP. Also (I think) it's been put aside for so long because of the massive job it is to fix, almost to the point where we would have to wait along time between patches. ( sound familiar? /me hopes )

The barrier collisions involve a lot more things than just that. Notice when you are on-line you can easily get a space flight, yet in single player the crash physics are much more realistic and less objectionable; proof that the barrier physics are interacting with a lot more we may perceive on the surface. A really, really big job to fix this in my opinion.

Have you ever coded 3D applications before? Object collision is a bitch, if it was an easy fix as you say, it would have been fixed already, but I don't think it is such an easy thing to fix. Layouts add floating objects, so it needs to have a more dynamic engine to make these extra object work. I don't wanna go into details because most would be speculation, but from my small experience with coding for 3D it is really difficult to keep frame rate down when dealing with object collision.

I have seen the fixes you mention. However, they do not show how the rest of the game functioning. My guess is that the rest of the physics is mashed to allow the solid barrier to work.

Ah ok I see. thnx

I've been googling a while now. Too many items to really find anything specific. Do you use a Logitech SPECIFIC tweak program or is it DX Tweak?

edit1: Ok downloaded DXTweak2.exe - which has a description of Logitech DX Tweaker Application
Is this the one? I don't wanna install something that might mess everything up in DirectX Input.
edit2: OK, read some forums on it, seems safe enough to give it a go.
edit3: Holy crapola, I just jizzed in my pants - works awesome. Analoge handbrake heaven. TYVM Logitekg25
edit4: It's a shame that you cannot save profiles in it. Crashes as soon as I try to save my own tweak in WinXP

On the subject of handbrakes

I have tried to make my Attack3 Logitech joystick work as a handbrake on its Y-Axis.

When you first start the PC and LFS the axis is centred. This makes the handbrake half on half off all the time in LFS. I tried using a spring to pull it to one end but this ruins the auto calibration when you reboot PC as it thinks the stick is centred when it is actually pulled to one end and then it goes nuts. How do you guys set up a joystick effectively as a handbrake in LFS?

Essentially, how do you make it so a centred joystick is handbrake off so it only uses half the axis... how is it done? I read here Logitekg25 does it with his so it must be possible.

Thanks for any help.

I'd take brake off mirrors over adjustable mirrors.

No problem there, send the devs an email & explain you ran out doing linux installs and they will give you another unlock early. They understand this happens.

Well history has shown if they show any interest in items or even discuss upcomming possible improvements, then some forums users (noisy minority) take that as a binding contract and then complain like blazers when it isn't done yet and cause never-ending arguments and they just keep comming out of the woodwork.

Can't blame the devs for not responding nowadays.

Yes, good point there.

Quote from lihakasa :.... axis(es?)

It's Axis for the singular experssion and Axes for the plural expresion.

edit: not being gramma police, I was under the impression he was asking why there is different spellings.
edit: I spelled expression correctly the second time so it cancels out the error - haha

When you press the accelerator, do you see the "gas indicator" green bar go up and down? (I circled it in red at the bottom right of the pic below)

note: you might have to turn on Show pedals : Yes in the Options >> Display menu to see the green bar at all.

Does the RPM of the engine go up and down?

Also check engine is running, press "i" for ignition to start engine. The engine will shut off if you sit there for 30 seconds not doing anything.

About those Axis and that link I sent you:

If you watch the GIF animation on that web page it will show you how to assign axis to different controls. The wheel turning, the gas, the brake they are all axis controls and you may have to tell LFS which axis does what car control.

When you bring up the Options >> Controls >> Axes/FF screen, you should see the yellow bars move when you do things like steer your wheel or press the gas pedal. This is so you can see on screen how each axis number affects each function. Then inside that menu you tell LFS which car control to use which axis. Read the white text that appears in the picture on that in the web link I gave you. You get a few seconds to read each instruction in the picture as it goes through the axis configuration process.

1 unlock per week is re-applied if you use them. Plenty enough to reformat/buy a new PC every week.

So anther point for LFS can be given :

+ no need for potentially hazardous "copy protection" software running in the background.

A bit hard to understand what you need help with.

Quote :...that y put on the controlers to accelerate whit the gas pedal ....

what does the y mean ?

Have you assigned the gas pedal axis correctly?

Also you need to put the car into 1st gear to take off.

I use the very top black round button on the shifter unit for handbrake. I can find it very quickly when both hands are on the wheel and I cannot glance down. I could assign handbrake to the wheel somewhere, but I kinda feel a little impotent if I don't have to reach down to get the handbrake on.

I am finally moving on from this though. Just two days ago bought an attack3...
to use as a dedi handbrake. Not yet installed in my "rig" yet.

not much help here, but I do remember someone had a a problem just like this, whenever he hit something it stuttered. Can't remember if he fixed it, the thread had a lot of input. Have a look around, something very similar in the last 6 months just like this.

Unzip these two scripts to you scripts folder

Then assign Ctrl_F12 to use button 4 and also bind the command /run pressed4 like in this picture.

Then press buttons 4 and 5 a few times to make it assign the handbrake to the correct button.

I've tested this and it works. You do not have to tap the buttton to get it to switch, it worked better than I thought it would.
