When patches after Z were released he (Scawen) fixed/improved some of the shadows and did some graphic optimisations to improve FPS for the higher detailed ground shadows. With the new changes, it created some bugs because objects were drawn/removed onscreen that didn't exist causing game crashes, so to fix that, the order that objects were drawn on screen was changed somewhat to accomdate the new optimisations and to stop the game crashes.
The side effect now is that the mirror is not drawn at the same time as in the past (in Z patch). Now (Z3-Z13) when you press shift-U, the screen objects are drawn in a different order, so the mirror display is not updated like it used to be. Hence, the black mirrors in shift-U.
The mirrors were bugged before anyway when you pressed shift-U. All cars had the same image on their mirrors. That needed to go so meh.
You can't fix this, it's a side effect of the new graphic optimisations.
Edit: well might not be 100% right, but the objects in memory are now drawn and erased in a different sequence in newer patches since Z.
Congrats on your purchase of S2. File divorce papers now, you will save money this way. You bought LFS and now your marriage is over, sorry.
About controllers... have a look over in this forum. Wheels and controllers
That RC controller is a great idea and would be MUCH MUCH more accurate than something like an xBox controller or PS3 controller type joystick. I've owned both in the past before and personally I find the xBox joystick anologe range is more sensitive and harder to master than the Ps2/ps3 type sticks if you're going in that direction.
edit: ahh it seems you've already been to that forum - Wheels and controllers --- good luck
No, That's the lap timer and is nothing to do with replay timer.
The replay will show elapsed time inside the replay at the bottom when you mouse over the bottom area of the screen inside a replay. The elapsed time or current point in replay) is displayed in the BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER.
The replay starts recording whenever a race restarts or you join a session. The recording will stop when you press "2" and type a filename and save it. You don't need to press "2" to start a recording =)
The length of the replay depends only on the amount of HDD space you have. Although if you run outta HDD space your PC is gonna grind to a halt anyway. I've recorded replays up to and over 5 hours long. The length of those massive replays are still small at around 30-100MB in size.
Sounds like you have network/internet issues. You will experience a drop in FPS if your network is suffering. I used to have less FPS when my internet got sketchy to when I saw the lag bars go up high.
Could be numerous things causing this network issue. But you need to completely get that looked into.
Could be:
Network card,
Network cable,
Modem/router
Water in the walls/ground affecting the phone line...
ISP problems
Windows issue
List is massive. Try some www.speedtest.net tests at least.
Just a note about this however.
The BLANK OVERFLOW is because your PC has issues and crashes. I don't think this solution is what he needs.
oli - Why so quick to make a newcomer 'not welcome' ?
I think it would be quite easy for a new comer to think the FBM looks a bit like an F1 car and so refer to it as an F1 car. I myself didn't couldn't remember which was XRG and which was XFG in the first few days of playing.
BF1 FBM << when you first start it all just looks like random letters. At least give him the "benefit of the doubt" for the moment.
I always thought you only damage the engine when you go over the rpm guage display end. Like changing from 6th to 2nd gear and the needle goes past the RPM guage scale.
So if you sit on the line and rev it at full revs with the throttle, this will damage the engine in LFS? I just thought the rev limiter stopped (was reduced on purpose) just on the redline because LFS was not damaging engines when people reved them up to full revs.... So to temporarially compensate this failing in the damage system the rev limiter was reduced to force real engine revs that people would actually use. I didn't think you could damage the engine with throttling alone.
I am assuming too much here?
Am I wrong here? Every race I have ever done I put the throtle at full from the first red light and drop the clutch at green (about 10 seconds in all). Am I damaging the engine before every race? The engine sounds fine, you can usually tell when it's damaged a lot from bad downshifting mess ups.
umm ignorant? Well if this is the way you think then you would be waiting until 2015 or something to ever get to play LFS at all, because by this thinking it would need to be finished before we should be able to play it.
The only time mirrors worked in another view other than Cockpit/Custom view was when you pressed Shift-U from those views. (I've been playing since Patch 0.5U) << Patch Z
Since Z3 patch and it's changes, even this method doesn't work anymore.
If it can't be fixed because this is the browser's fault, maybe add a couple zoom buttons [+] and [-] which can be used in the event that the scroll wheel stops functioning correctly. Or make a keyboard press for zoom like + and -
ZOMG, I tried holding ctrl+shift (view licence names) and then the scroll wheel worked. This was IE 6 & 7 so I dunno about FireFox etc. Our website does not yet incorporate the remote2. I tested with the official version set in an iframe, but the scroll bug is still happening there. http://www.citylifecrew.net/serverstatus.php
Hook up a controller and get a mate to use that to drive. The FF will still effect the wheel. Hold the wheel while this is going on. It just feels like random jerking.
That would require editing the setups for every car. He said every car was effected. Unlikely the kid edited the intake restriction on every car by mistake. But he's fixed it now anyway.
*for LuLz*
This is about as close as you're gonna get.
And it's still a long way off of it.
Covers the first ten seconds of this video ~.~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5n0eYA9VJgE
oh wow Tommy, that is cool simulator. Junctions and slow areas.
Wicked man.
Can you imagine how fun it would be to write an auto-pilot to avoid other cars and just drive and drive?
Drive a around the layout, saving the correct place to drive, (don't use LFS track path file) make your own. Cruise server's have keep right/left so racing line isn't relevant.
Traffic detection and avoidance. Would be funny to watch. Ahh to have free time again. ~.~
Post#2 He mentioned that Cruise servers detect auto-pilot scripts... I mean wow.. srsly...so deffo not.
