I believe there is something possible if you are desperate.

/player xxxx

/player xxxxx

1. Bind a key to the commands.

2. Have a different number plate set in advance for each player.

3. Number plate changes when you change player name.

4. Annoy the $()ck out off everyone on the server changing names all the time?

If devs made a maximum turn rate speed a server option. Something similar to the fastest you can turn a 900 degrees wheel - Then mouse/joypad/kb users would have a bigger delay when turning so they would be at the same disadvantage as wheel users are.

To them it would appear like a laggy wheel, but if it was server option then people couldn't complain. A bit like FCV option.

Maybe that's the solution?

edit: Nevermind - Server and client replays are probably the same thing. Clients receives packet then extrapolates positions.

Good idea, but I imagine a pretty daunting task.

Quote from Kat0san :Is it a Microsoft Sidewinder? ....

Quote from Royal[Ricer] :haha here it is. http://www.amazon.com/InterAct ... acing-Wheel/dp/B00000JDDY

wheel itself has some pretty bad reviews on amazon, I think it's clear why it was a freebie. Understandably you want to try it out. You have a slim chance the adapter will work, the extra plug, (PS/2 type looking plug) no idea there, so pedals may even not work once the adapter is hooked up.

Be prepared if you spend say $10 on an adapter it may OR may not work. If it does work and you are impressed, from my own experience a proper Force Feedback wheel will be 100 times more fun than a cheap 270 degree spring wheel and you will notice right away that a cheap free wheel will be about 90 times more fun than using a keyboard to drive.

ie: Decent FFB wheel is 900 times more fun than keyboard.

Make sure you turn off your mirrors within that custom view - the FPS go down the tubes when mirrors are on and you're looking backwards at the same time. Just something I've always noticed.

Also, have you noticed that the side mirrors don't actually show more than the centre mirror? The side mirrors are essentially just the centre mirror split into two. This is probably why you can't enable virtual side mirrors as you wouldn't gain anything.

Realistic side mirrors would be nice, but in time I guess.

But I know what you mean, I find it impossible to figure out who is on my left (driver opposite to you). If look left and then lose my line I usually mess it up. If I allow room for the driver next to me so I don't squish them on the inside or against the wall then they'll fly past me.

Exactly what I was saying. It seems thats anyone can exploit this and say they have a non-working XXXXX, send a photo and get a new g27. How long will that policy last?

Good luck to you if you have a damaged G25.

ahhh?, so you don't have to send a picture of a destroyed G25 no more? Like with all the cables cut and what not?

This shows how much profit they be making on a g25. Probably costs them 10 pound to make and sell 'em for 100

Where's the sense in all this? I technically voided my warranty because I took apart my pedals to 'clean' the unit thus saving them shipping me a new G27. Yet now technically I'm not entitled to a replacement if something blows up major in the main wheel unit because I did them a favour?

You can't tell I 'cleaned' the pedals as the screws for the unit are intact and look like new, but technically I voided it. Weird company.

Can't say I'm not jealous RichUK, I wouldn't mind a free G27 and still keep my G25. I only need one at home - it would look good at the office in the IT dept. and make for some good 'team building' sessions. Or I could just tell the boss that windows updates required some 'drivers' so we're just working on that.

Even easier than using profiler >>>> Bind this command to a wheel button

/shift P

(in OPTIONS >> CONTROLS >> Ctrl + Key section)

Quote from lfs/docs/commands.txt :
/shift [key] - SHIFT + key

Goodluck, any hoby/electronic store will have a small can of contact cleaner for cheap.

You will find it easier than you think.

Quote from MAGGOT :I appreciate how the researchers themselves are open to, and want to be included in, the ethical debate. That's nice to see. I also think this being applied to vaccines and other cures is fascinating. Being in the US, though, I wonder how long it will take for all of their equipment and research to be ceased by the gov't/military and used on the battlefield.

Probably much faster than any cure for cancer - which was it's biggest selling point on our news.

Take apart G25 pedal unit:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ml9L7NB6jVk
Make sure you have a good screwdriver and allen key to fit correctly.
Stop at 1:16 (you don't need to remove the pedals to clean the potentiometers. The video shows him removing the cable tension screws at 1:18. Mine didn't have that assembly nor should you need to remove it. Just make sure when you go to reassemble you put it back the same way. It's designed so that when you pull on the cable it won't tug the internal components. The cable should go in an S shape before it exits the case. Make sure when you reasemble the pedal unit that you get the lead cable in the correct place otherwise the case might crimp it.)

And how to clean the potentiometers:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukA8Qy-M4fY
(To rotate the potentiometers like in the video just use your hands and compress the pedals fully about 20-30 times or so to rotate the potentiometers)

Are you sure you moved your mouse to the very small area and clicked the mouse button at the same time.... yes / no

c'mon you click there and then want a nag msg. You don't "lose" anything when you exit really. If you had to wait ten mins to reload or something - I'd understand, but it's literally 5 seconds to resart. It's pretty hard to accidently click there, maybe I've done it once in 4 years 200,000kms.

You get a warning from hitting ESC 'cause that's relatively easy to do as you might be exiting several sub menus in sequence.

Seems to me the current interface logic as it stands is pretty logical. Scawen must shudder when he reads requests that he deliberately excluded. (Queue sideshow Bob)

Oh yes, lets spend "a day's coding" or whatever giving an option for this nag msg, (an LFS day's coding equates to 6 weeks in mortal's time) No offence at dev' as I think that is reasonable time anyway. I want an option so I can remove the pointless options

seems all you have to do is unplug the power lead. No harm needed.

golly

(although I don't want a g27, but jeebus)

Mine does this when I unplug it from the wall power. The power LED flashes fast and the sequential mode LED works. There isn't enough power from the USB to drive the FFB so the auto calibration won't happen at start up. All the buttons and pedals still work. Have you got a friend or someone who can test your DC adapter?

I'm pretty sure that if the wheel still works BUT without FFB then the problem is the power adapter.

I had a wheel like this years ago. You have to change the mode while it's turned on and hooked up. It's the button labeled 'race' or 'mode'. Then the analog pedal mode kicks in. When in analog pedal mode it acts as combined pedals, (brake/acc is the same axis - but LFS can deal with that. Just test it in the Windows Game Controllers tool first until you get it working in analog mode, then set LFS to use Combines Throttle/brake axes on the X Axis)

IIRC mine had three 'modes'.
1. digital steering/digital brake & acc
2. analog steering/digital brake & acc
3. analog steering/analog brake & acc

It works a bit like the analog button mode on a PS2 Dual shock. Unfortunately the 'handbrake' portion just acts as full brakes in this 3rd analog mode.

I didn't have to install any drivers to make it work either. Windows just picks it up.

G25 about 15 months old. My accelerator started spiking about 2 weeks ago. Input jumped around profusely when applying about 2% throttle and even twitched when not being pressed at all.

Needless to say, became useless for gaming.

Removed the pedal case (easy to do and there are youtube vids to explain how to do it). Then I sprayed a touch of electrical contact cleaner ($10) into the potentiometer slots and give the pedal a good wiggle. All sorted now.

I wouldn't suggest using WD-40; some plastics will soften when exposed to that lubricant.

If you feel it's the bloom mod that's stopped lfs from working, remove these files that create the bloom effect from the lfs game folder:

d3d8.dll
d3d9.dll
d3dx9_26.dll
enbconvertor.ini
enbseries.ini

If it still don't work - re-install LFS into a different folder. Next time you mod the game keep track of what you're doing.

Not only dust, but carbon deposits can accumulate. My seq (UP) pot is spiking. So I get double shifts going down gears in seq mode. Can't attemp to fix unless I void warranty, but it is intermittent (1 every 20th shifts) so it's impossible to prove to the retailer.

Waggling it furiously FOR and AFT in gate mode cleans it, but it just comes back after a few days.

Luckily LFS has debounce up to 250ms. All other car games are essentially ruined.

if you think that everyone should be forced to play with wheel then go play iRacing. It's expensive so they all have wheels and can afford it.
Even then you could use 45 degrees wheel lock and not really have a wheel huh?

LFS is more for all types of gamers. TBH if it was wheel only I never would have got into LFS cause I only had KB when I first found LFS. Slowly progressed over time spending over $4,500 on a sim rig cockpit now. I can't very well turn around now and say piss of if you have no wheel. You can't have a cheap game accesible to everyone and expect that everyone playing wants to invest in a wheel or even the deskspace to hold one. And playing at work would be harder to disguise.

There's abilty to lock out KB/mouse from a particular server with lapper, but then you can still use Joypad as it appears the same as a wheel - "W" in inSim iirc

Just have less aids for mouse/kb if LFS devs want to try force more use of wheels for simulation reasons. Fast steer, analoge smoothing and many other things makes joy/kb/mouse far too easy. Would be nice if that was a server option though, cause ripping LFS with a pad and chase view in an arcade setup is kinda good fun and relaxing to.

Have fun

Well at least the blame will be taken off soldiers once they get robots fully armed. Then it will be more clear who is to blame. It will be the fault of the guy making the metal and parts at the factory.

edit: i still don't get the picture of the fish either? Anyone can elaborate?

ok, without a bad comparison i'll try re-iterate my original point.

Quote from Shotglass :no blames the ones who are willing to be sent there
war is a problem caused by people who are willing to be pawns

I'm assuming you meant..
"no, blame the ones who....."
I just read some other sentences blaming the soldiers for this attrocity, you seemed to hold blame at them to - I was trying to say that this is not true, they are just doing their jobs, abiet an extreeme choice of job. I'm far from calling the soldiers stupid as dogs mate. They're trained (messed up) to follow orders no matter what and taught killing is ok.
They were authorised to kill, who authorised this? Who authorised this illegal invasion? Who supplied the weapons to them? There is your blame.
A few good men... blah
