Quote from Gil07 :Those numbers aren't editable at all... They're just normal rasterized layers, what font are we supposed to use?

Also, any chance of a bit smaller/nicer design plates?

With respect to the numbers, you're right - I'll get that sorted very soon.

With respect to the numberplates, they're that size becuase they're that way in real-life - check out any of the 2008 BTCC cars. So no to them being smaller.

If you don't like the design, feel free to PM me with your own design - I'm afraid I just don't have time to do them at the minute.

Hi Racers,

In this thread you will find the information you need for how to prepare the skin of your car for use in the iTCC Touring Car Championship.

Links are provided at the bottom of this thread for a Numberplate - this is a .PSD file containing the layer you need to skin your car with the correct iTCC-liveried numberplates. These numberplates have editable numbers.

Please make sure that your car is correctly skinned, and that the skin is uploaded to the LFSWorld website.

This is also the thread to post your skins. Please post your hi-res skins here so I can use them in the broadcast.

Thanks

Quote from Rudy van Buren :yea indeed way better, almost 10 sec was to much

why not cross a line at 2.48.00 xD

No, it's 103%.

If we end up having too many sign-ups we're looking at a way to give reserve drivers a chance of competing in the event. (Thanks to Darryn Lobb for that idea). More details on that to follow.

Quote from BigTime :
Just a recommendation, but 105% is a walk in the park..........

You know - you're right.......

I had thought originally to make it 103% but I looked at my own best time (2:47.8) and thought to myself 'well I'm not bad - actually 2.50 might be bloody hard', but then looking at the results from the pre-season, nearly everyone was doing those sorts of times anyway.

So I've amended the percentage - time to beat now is 2:50.18. I'm quite happy that at that level, we'll get drivers who are not only pretty quick but also hopefully aware of what they're doing on track with relation to others.

Cheers

Hi racers,

Welcome to the first season of:

iTCC - The Touring Car Championship by iCON Racing Events.

This is a race series taking place in the first half of 2009, and will consist of six 'triple-header' rounds (3 races at each round). The car used will be the FXR restricted to 32%. The idea of this championship is for it be run, as far as is practical, in a similar way to both the BTCC and WTCC. This means a similar race format, with partially 'reversed' grids and also success ballast.

Timings for the race meetings will be Sundays at 1800 GMT (UTC)

Please make sure that before you sign up for this championship that you are eligible to enter.

Eligibility

To be eligibile to enter the iTCC you must be able to meet a minimum standard of outright pace - the iTCC requires that you can lap within 103% of a recognised benchmark. In this case it is Rudy Van Buren's fastest race lap from the Pre-Season meeting at Aston Grand Touring (AS6) - 2:45.22. So the time you will be required to beat is 2:50.18 (Sorry to those who signed up straight after this post, but this is the time you need to beat now - looking at your names, I know that won't be a problem)

When registering your interest in this series please submit a .spr hot lap of your racing at Aston Grand Touring (AS5)

Please submit the .spr as an attachment to your sign-up post.

Joining iTCC

Please signal your intention to join the iTCC by replying to this post with the following information as shown below:
  • LFS Username :
  • Real Name :
  • Team :
  • Eligible (Hotlap under 2:50.18) :
  • Preferred Number :
If you competed in the Pre-Season meeting, as long as you meet the eligibility criteria, a place will available for you until 31/12/2008. After this time, no preference can be given to you.

Teams

There will be a team championship within the iTCC - each team is to consist of a maximum of two drivers. If there are more than two drivers in the championship who belong to the same team, you are more than welcome to enter as another team.

Race Numbers

Any numbers are available between 2 & 99 (the number 1 is only for use by series champions)

Allocation of race numbers is strictly on a first come first served basis.

Confirmation

The confirmed drivers have been informed. All other signed-up competitors are on the 'Reserve List'. There is a 'reserve shootout' system, please see the rules for more details.

Sign up is open from now until 2200 GMT (UTC) on 01/01/09. PMs will then be sent to the confirmed and reserve drivers with details of the first round. Sign-up to the Reserve List for the second and subsequent rounds will be open after the preceding round.

The first round is 11th January 2009 at 1800 GMT (UTC).

The iTCC website can be found here

Rules are here

Calendar is available in the Calendar thread.

Thank you to those drivers who made it to the Pre-Season meeting, the level of competition was absolutely fantastic - if we have that level of skill in the 1st season of the iTCC, this will be a great league!

Best of luck,

Joe Keaveney - iTCC Admin

Hi Victor,

I'd like to ask you to create a subsection for ICON Racing Events, and within that sub-section, a sub-forum for iTCC Season 1.

We've recently held a pretty successful pre-2009-season race meeting which went pretty smoothly and was generally well-received. The forum link for that event is : http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=50941. The replays for that meeting can be found at the above link and the broadcasts can be found at http://iconracing.co.uk/itcctv.htm

Our website for the iTCC Touring Car Championship is at : http://itcc.iconracing.co.uk and for the RACCAR championship (RAC-only) at http://raccar.iconracing.co.uk.

The iTCC Championship will run from January onwards. The RACCAR Championship will follow on soon after that. The sign-ups for the iTCC Championship will open as soon as the sub-section is up and running.

If anything is missing, I would very much appreciate any feedback.

Thanks,

Joe Keaveney (iCON)

Quote from DeadWolfBones :I'd very much like to join the series, but I can only make it if it's a weekend series (and if it doesn't conflict with IGTC/MoE). Any idea what day of the week the races will be run and at what time?

Sunday at around 1800 GMT

It won't conflict with IGTC/MoE. We're conscious of the fact that other leagues need to be factored in to our calendar. With that in mind, is the calendar out for IGTC 2009 yet?

Hi racers,

Can I say thank you to all that turned up last night - I thoroughly enjoyed watching the racing, and was thrilled to see so many people excited by the racing.

I've put up Race 1 now - you can find it in the 'ON-DEMAND' section of the ICON TV or Mogulus - or if you let the video play, all 3 races are shown in the the order they were raced.

I'm gonna be working now to get a more comprehensive page together - this will include stats from all three races, links to the replays, videos, race reports, and video analysis. I'll let you know here as I publish each part.

As a team, ICON will look at how we can improve the show - not just doing what we need to do better, but seeing what new things there are that we can do.

Cheers

Quote from dekojester :I'd say even start it 2 hours earlier, at 1800 GMT..

Good point, it was neary 11pm GMT when I got finished last night, so we will schedule the meetings earlier in the evening from now on.

Quote from dekojester :Cut out some of the breaks. I'd even go so far as to say cut out the FP 15 minutes before qual...

Also, yeah I agree. The server was open the whole week for racers to use so no need for a FP as well.

Quote from dekojester :And doing a /end between the FP and qual was, imo, slow and stupid way to admin it. Easy to just do /qual=15 followed by /qualify - also, after qual and races, you don't need to ask drivers to spec before doing /end. Just do /end, then do /clear - that clears the grid completely by an admin. Easy, quick.

In this instance, Darren was adminning his first race meeting, and as such (considering there were no massive issues), he did brilliantly. I'm sure he'll read the post and take on board what you've said - it's all about experience. We'll be right on the ball for the next meeting.

Here's the Replays!

Enjoy guys, I'm just about to upload Race 1 - I needed to trim the footage. Apologies in advance for the quality, I'll re-encode a better one later on in the week.

Quote from Thunderhead :thanks.

But, I see some people are resizing them- is that all all right? IMO, everyone should have them the same, without everyone sizing them up and down....

(yeayeayea I know I'm annoying I'm Mr. Numberplate lalalalalala....)

Well actually the way you have them is the correct way. So please leave them as they are.

The others have done it wrong, but that's mostly my fault for not sorting the numberplate kit out sooner - so I'll let them get away with it this time.

However, it should be the way yours are for the season itself. So please leave yours the way they are, they're correct.

Quote from boothy :Joe, noticed the race format and I have to take issue with the grid order for race 3 - the reverse position should not be fixed, it should be random so nobody tries to hang back and get on pole for race 3 - the BTCC does this, a random reversal point between 6 and 10 inclusive (changed from your method a few years ago) and IIRC so does the WTCC.

Yeah I know - the problem is how to randomize the reversal And I had written the rules that way before thinking it may be a bit complex.

The only way I can think of doing it is to literally pick the number out of a hat - thus ensuring a random reversal Either me or the admin on the day will pick this number from said hat. Consider it changed! (Changed back to what I intended to be honest!)
