When registering your interest in this series please submit a .spr hot lap of your racing at Aston Grand Touring (AS6)

Please submit the .spr as an attachment to your sign-up post.

Joining iTCC

Please signal your intention to join the iTCC by replying to this post with the following information as shown below:
  • LFS Username :
  • Real Name :
  • Team :
  • Eligible (Hotlap of AS6 in under 2:50.18) :
  • Preferred Number :
Where new drivers belong to a team already competing in the iTCC, if they have a team currently with only 1 driver, then they may join that driver in the that team.

New team entries are allowed within the guidelines published in this thread.

Race Numbers

Any numbers are available between 600 & 699.

Allocation of race numbers is strictly on a first come first served basis.

Rules are here, bear in mind these are in the process of being revised, it would be wise to re-check the rules before Round 6 begins.

Skins must be to the guidlines published here

Best of luck to the new entrants, and to everybody, thankyou for supporting the series, let's give a good show at Round 6!

Cheers

Quote from The Very End :But how high is this sound? Probally something that canot be heared by human ears, but there must be a limit on this? If it's deep down in the ocean there must be like a million things that can disturb this sound

It's a 1 Hz signal, when the beacon makes contact with water, the water acts as a switch and starts the operation of the beacon. The beacon is (normally) mounted on the side of the cockpit voice/data recorder, I'm not sure of it's output power. It won't be a lot becuase the battery is only about the size (in fact it probably is exactly the size) of a 'D' type battery (LR20 to those of you younger than me). So range won't be massive, in the order of a few miles.

The problem with that is that the plane might be 5-6 miles down at the bottom of the Atlantic, so a) how do you hear a beacon which can't transmit to the surface and b) even if you did find it, how are you going to recover the box? Only very specialised robotic submarines and diving bells can go that deep I would imagine.

Like Dan said, the battery life is in the order of a few weeks, so time is of the essence to work out it's location from the clues they have - which are it's last recorded position when it signalled the electrical fault, and the debris they have found. There are smart people (oceanographers) who can work out the prior position of the debris, by looking back over the movements of ocean currents in the last few days. 'Timecasting' is the technique they use I believe.

Still, the odds of recovery of the flight data recorderhave got to be fairly slim.

Quote from 666MePhIsTo666 :Can't you guys forget my ballast? I'm such a n00b that i don't really need more handicaps.

Yeah, right. In a field full of really good drivers, you picked up loads of points and you want less ballast? Some n00b

Well done mate, hope to see you on the podium at Round 6

Quote from BigTime :That ballast gap is a lot larger than I had anticipated on... Are those final?

Yes, they're final. Your points are correct and therefore so is your ballasting.

Is this a joke or some sort of 'Highlander film' moment for teams in LFS? 'There can be only one' (LFS team) and all that. In fact, is SR Keith the Kurgan?

Anyway, best of luck to all concerned

P.S. I have something to say! It's better to burn out than to fade away!

OK, maybe not kick-ass, but I'll settle for 'pretty good'

Don't buy that piece of crap, I've specced a PC using an Irish website.

You'd need to buy a copy of Vista, or download the beta of Windows 7 for free.

Either way you'd get a better PC and you'd save yourself 300 Euros. If you need a monitor, keyboard etc, there's still enough to get you a Logitech G15 Keyboard, G3 (or whatever it is) mouse, a decent monitor, and a decent set of speakers and you'd still come in under 1200 Euros. Just you'd have a kick-ass PC instead of a lame PC.

I'd make sure all your drivers are there and working.

Chipset drivers

Audio drivers

Network drivers

Graphics drivers

Also get rid of your old graphics driver first using Driver Cleaner Pro

That machine should run LFS easily. Update your drivers, use driver cleaner and then install the new graphics driver, run LFS, and let me know how you got on.

OK I'm closing this thread - the deadline for protests is up, and we're already looking into the re-start antics of a few drivers.

Decisions will be in a few days, and the points table will be updated and published shortly after that.

That and I was fairly certain that you can overtake before the finish-line. My mistake and hence the protest.

Actually, if you look in the iTCC rulebook, David, you can't. But top marks for integrity and fair play.

Quote from xtraction :Hey,

This is aimed @ Joe,

When would ITCC 2010 Signups start, id like to be one of the first signing up

Im really interested in the league and i know other friends who are too..

Regards..

Wow! You're keen

Thanks for the interest Well the 2010 championship will start inviting sign-ups in November/December I would imagine - although we need to revise the rules and discuss minor format changes first.

But yeah, November....ish.

Quote from BigTime :First and foremost, I was never upset with the contact before the our incident. Even though I was driven off the track, I was comfortable in the position we were in since I was planning on pushing Laprevotte... I knew when this incident happened that it would look like retaliation, but I can honestly say this was a mistake. The reason I was coming up the track is because I expected Laprevotte to go to the racing line, which was about a car width to the right.... I expected the car to be recoverable, but the fact is I should have lifted a bit.

I personally think lag really aided the spin, because it felt like our fenders locked. As I said, I never expected that to be unrecoverable. Regardless of which, I'm not going to overly defend this accident. I'll admit that I should have lifted, but the reason for the initial contact was a racing incident, and a misunderstanding of our racing lines.

I'll accept this as your reply to the protest, Nolan.

In future, please wait for my PM asking for your reply. This thread is meant only for posting your protest. I hope you understand the reason for keeping replies out of this thread (it gets messy and argumentative)

Thanks

Quote from hyntty :Jah, I may not show up this time since my flooring is getting done and the lacquer fumes could destroy my intellect.

But even if I was planning to show up I'm sure you tards would change the schedule again just to be really annoying.

Ouch No changes planned mate, anyway the presence of your towering intellect is always welcome on the iCON servers.

Quote from MijnWraak :Maybe if price is not a factor, yeah...

Well it was a factor The AMD Phenom II CPU's are good value, but actually the Q6700 was both better AND cheaper, like-for-like, than the AMD chip which was supposed to perform around the same.

This is not a AMD/Intel thing, it's just that the Q6700 is good and very very cheap in the UK at the moment.

Quote from S14 DRIFT :Q6600 is pretty good all round IMO.

However if the Q8200 is better than the 6600 and cheaper, I'd go with this. AMD are not the multicore CPU to have at the moment.. Intel are still the ones to beat.

Cheers! Thanks for the advice.....

In the end, the computer got built faster than I anticpated, I ended up getting the parts last Friday and building it on Friday evening.

I went for the Q6700 eventually, which was £25 cheaper and clocked 0.26 GHz faster. It’s essentially the same chip, I believe (from reviews), with the multiplier 1x higher.

The eventual build was:

Antec Sonata III Case with 500W EarthWatts PSU
Gigabyte EP43-DS3L
Intel Core 2 Quad 6700
Arctic Freezer 7 Pro
8 GB Corsair 800Mhz (PC2-6400) 4 x 2GB
Samsung Spinpoint F1 1TB 32MB Cache
Lite-On DVD-Writer (Dunno the model no.)
ATI HD4670 1GB GDDR3

The CPU is really nice, runs Vista (and I would imagine Windows 7) really well.

Thanks again guys! Answers much appreciated.
