Does this situation forces me to change number ?

Thanks for the suggestion Niels, keep them coming! A healthy discussion about how we run things can only improve iTCC, and for sure, we'll look to you guys for your opinions when we sit down and look at what to do next.

For now, though, as you can see, the largest change in iTCC has been pre-qualifying. I don't forsee any massive changes to the format apart from that for this season, with the season now so close (and therefore planning time is minimal )

I like the national anthems idea (for the winner), but like Jack said, you better get used to hearing either - the Star Spangled Banner - or the William - or Yes, we love this country! - or There is a lovely land, as I think these will be most likely the nations from which the winning drivers come. (USA,NED,NOR,DEN just so you know). I'll go find the MP3s now

Cheers guys!

Quote from scotty2888 :So theres no such thing as locked in drivers no more?

Everyone Pre quali's

Fastest 50 of Pre Qualy does the shootout with the top 30 going to the actual event.

I see. Sounds fair.

No I didn't say that.

For the Pre-Season Race only, everyone who enters for the race must pre-qualify. The fastest 32 will race at the Pre-Season Race.

For the Season itself, top 15 from last year will meet the top 15 from the (Reserve) Shootouts. The 50 drivers in the Shootouts are made up of the top 50 from Pre-Qualifying.

Hope I've been a bit clearer for you.

Quote from scotty2888 :*facepalm* Thanks guys.

I am assuming the locked in drivers will also have to confirm if they are available by the time the pre qualy finishes. (Sat whatever the time was) at the latest?

I didnt see that anywere unless I missed it otherwise you might have spaces left in the shootouts?

Everyone pre-qualifies for the Pre-Season Race. We're testing the script (thanks Reint Jan!), and Airio, to make sure we get no problems.

Hope this clarifies things.

Thanks for your post, Niels.

You make a very good point regarding the 'locked-in' drivers. The answer as to why the championship is structured like it is serves several purposes.

Firstly, by having a set of 15 'locked-in' racers (who are the fastest drivers becuase they have scored the most points) we have continuity from round to round throughout the season. This, along with the ballast rules, leads to the creation of rivalries for positions, whether it be for the title (1st) or a rivalry between the places 10-15 for a top ten position at the season's end.

Secondly, the advantage of being 'locked-in', is a motivating factor to those drivers in places 15-20 of the championship. A good set of results at a round of the iTCC will get them into the top 15, qualifying them automatically for a place at the next round of the iTCC, where they may be able to keep that successful form going and climb the championship table.

Thirdly, the 'locked-in' principe is a loyalty incentive. The good drivers, those who attend the iTCC races round after round, and who consistently score points at each round of the iTCC, are rewarded with a guaranteed place at the next round.

Fourthly, these good drivers in the top 15 (who generally speaking are from well-established teams) face a very stern challenge from any driver in the 30 who race. That means at any round of the iTCC, a rookie, if he is fast enough, can race bumper-to-bumper with a veteran of LFS, providing a new challenge for both rookie and veteran alike.

One of my objectives for the iTCC was to promote new drivers. I wanted to create a league where the LFS veterans could be challenged at every round by fast drivers new to the sport of sim-racing. I'm not sure how many new drivers we saw last year in the iTCC, but we saw some new drivers, and those new drivers had the opportunity to showcase their talents to the established teams, and I hope that has been good for both the drivers and the teams.

I do see the point you make, and I can see how it could be seen as unfair. I, however, don't see it like that. I think the format that we've decided upon is a large part of what makes the iTCC what it is - intense, engaging, and breathless!

Thanks again for the post, Niels - I hope we see you rubbing wheels with the big guns

Cheers

Hi racers,

To cope with the large number of entries in iTCC, we have introduced a 'pre-qualfying' system in order to give all racers a fair chance of competing in the iTCC.

Please read the pre-qualifying thread to read about how pre-qualification works.

Thanks,

All drivers entered for the Pre-Season event will be subject to Pre-Qualifying. The top 32 drivers from Pre-Qualifying will compete in the Pre-Season event.

Pre-Qualfying (Please read!)

Hi racers,

Due to the very large number of entries for the 2010 iTCC Touring Car Championship, we have decided to implement a 'pre-qualifying' system.

Pre-qualifying works like this:

The top 15 drivers from the 2009 iTCC Driver's Championship move straight through to Round 1 of the 2010 iTCC Driver's Championship. They are 'locked-in'. At all other rounds of the iTCC, the 'locked-in' drivers are those drivers who are in the top 15 of the 2010 Driver's Championship. All other drivers who have submitted entries for the 2010 Championship must 'pre-qualify'.

The iTCC server will be passworded from 2200 UTC Wednesday until 2200 UTC Saturday immediately before the forthcoming iTCC round. All drivers needing to pre-qualify will have a PM sent to them with the server password. They must then set the best laptime they can on the iTCC server.

A Live timing weblink is available as well as ranking lists being available within LFS - type !top FXI.

The top 50 drivers from pre-qualifying will then advance to the Reserve Shootouts and feature in the iTCC program/broadcast. The top 15 drivers from the Reserve Shootouts will advance to the iTCC races themselves.

We feel this is the fairest way to give all the racers entering a chance to get into the iTCC. If you're fast enough, you'll get through.

Best of luck to you all

This thread will be used to let you know when the server is passworded and open for pre-qualifying.

Round 3

Pre-Qualifying begins at 2200 UTC on Wednesday 17 February 2010 and ends at 2200 UTC on Saturday 20 February 2010. Top 50 drivers from Pre-Qualifying make it to the Reserve Shootouts. At least 14 from the Reserve Shootouts will make it to the race! Max number of 29 starters at SO5R.

Cheers

Hi guys, the entry list has been updated, please check your race numbers as they may have changed.

Please, I don't want any arguments as to who has got what number, it's not important - it's just a number

If you see any mistakes please PM me.

Also, I'll be making an announcement or two about this year's championship hopefully within a couple of days, so keep checking the forum out to stay up to date!

Thanks and best of luck in the 2010 iTCC Championship!

Cheers

Guys, please chill out a little bit. The list will be updated when I get a chance. The 1st round isn't until the 10th of January. I can't spend all day on the forum keeping the list up to date. My boss would sack me,see. So give me a chance and I'll have all the entries sorted. Cheers!

Your car number, and competitor number is 95. That's all it means. It has no chronological value whatsoever, you will drive in the Reserve Shootout. Hope this helps, mate.

Quote from andRo. :Hey, just a question.
Why am I number when I signed up with number 16? + I was one of the first to sign up, but in the reserve list, I'm now one of the last. Which means, that I won't get to race probably.

Or did you just put us in some order, to make things easier? Or what? And yes, I had an .spr which meets the criteria.

Here you gave me the right number.

Hi and thanks for the question

Firstly, I'm giving the series champion the choice of which number he chooses

Secondly, you will get to compete in the reserve shootouts along with the rest of the racers in the Reserve List, if you're fast enough you'll then qualify to the race meeting itself.

Thanks for the entry (and the .spr) and good luck in the iTCC!

Original post updated with driver entries so far. You'll notice some of the drivers who have posted in this thread are not on the list.

Drivers, you MUST attach an .spr hotlap that meets the criteria in the original post.

If you competed last season then go back to the original sign-up thread for Season 1, and find your replay that you attached then. Come back to this thread and attach it to your post, then let me know you've updated your original post. It lets me know a) you're eligible and b) it means I can scan the forum more quickly in order to administrate the league better.

Thanks guys! Looking forward to Round 1!

Cheers

Quote from Scott Mckenzie :Just out of interest, with the announcement of the Rockingham circuit addition. Would there be potential to include this (if it is released in time) to the calender, either by dropping one of the tracks, or by possibly adding an extra round.

Definitely yes. If Rockingham appears before the end of the season then the last round will be replaced by Rockingham.

Hello racers,

After many weeks of preparation the ICON Racing team would like to invite participants for a warm-up event for the 2010 iTCC Touring Car Championship

The car used is the FXR, which is air intake-restricted to 32% to give 320 BHP. This is a sequential geared car, with similar power to modern touring cars.

The start of the race will be a standing (grid) start.

The races themselves will be available to watch via LFS Remote and ICON TV, which will be broadcasting commentated live in-game coverage.

There is a Ventrilo VOIP server (details soon), we will be asking some drivers in the Championship to be on this server so the commentary team can get the driver's views during the race.

In order to test all our procedures, admin staff, and hardware/software setups, we are inviting racers to declare their interest in the following event:

iTCC - Touring Car Chamionship Pre-Season Warm Up

13th December 2009 - 18:00 UTC(GMT)

at Aston Grand Touring

Length of race - 8 Laps

This event will run to the 'triple-header' format, and it is envisgaed will take no more than 2 hours to complete.

Please register your interest by posting your replies in this thread in the format:

ALL drivers will Pre-Qualify for the Pre-Season Race, the top 32 will make it through to the race. This is so we can thoroughly test the Pre-Qualifying System, and it's associated softwares. Sorry for the late change to the format; however, we think it is right and sensible that we use the Pre-Season Race as a test vehicle for the 2010 Championship. Pre-Qualifying will take place between 0001 UTC on Thursday 10th December, and 2359 on Saturday 12th December. Server passwords will be PMed shortly before this time.

Please download this and amend your skins. Remember to upload the finished skin to LFS World!
