2010 ITCC Pre-Season Race: Incident Thread

Hi Racers,

It was obvious during the Pre-Season meeting that several drivers did not observe good racing etiquette, or the iTCC Rules. We want to make sure that the 2010 iTCC Championship is an improvement on 2009 and so we would like to invite drivers from the Pre-Season Race meeting to comment on any incidents in which they were directly involved.

Replays available HERE

Please report any incidents in which you were directly involved during the Pre-Season Race meeting. Please use the template below:

Your Name:
Your LFS Username:

Driver(s) involved:

Description - Your opinion of what happened:

Which Event / Session: (Quali or Race 1/2/3)

Time of incident (e.g. Race 1 - 03:45):

I don't want any arguments in this thread, I will PM the drivers in question to get their comments.

Decisions/Penalties will be posted in a seperate thread.

Cheers

It's not, but I see how you could say that A bit of pre-season jitters, I hope. As long as they get it out of their system before the season

Quote from Cawwa :Ok, I read but don't fully understand. It's clear how it works now in the preseason race today ( I think... )

But during the season ... see if I got it right here.

Let's say Round 3.

Qualify and Race 1 you get weight acording to your place in the champioship:
1st - 42kg
2nd - 35kg
3rd - 28kg
4th - 21kg
5th - 14kg
6th - 7kg

Race 2: All weights are taken away. But the racers get ballast after their place in Race 1
1st - 42kg
2nd - 35kg
3rd - 28kg
4th - 21kg
5th - 14kg
6th - 7kg

Race 3: All weights are taken away. But the racers get ballast after their place in Race 2
1st - 42kg
2nd - 35kg
3rd - 28kg
4th - 21kg
5th - 14kg
6th - 7kg

On top of this you have ballast acording how many championship point you have. They are not taken away at any time?

Ah I see where you're getting confused.

Todays trial of race-by-race ballasting, if we use it for the 2010 season, would mean there would be no cumulative ballast (i.e. no ballast based on championship points). The only ballast you would get would be if you finished in the top 6 in the last race.

If we use it for the 2010 season (and it's a big if), the rules above would replace the existing rules. Which would mean no cumulative ballast.

Hope this clears things up.

Please let me re-iterate: today's bllasting system is a trial. We may or may not use this system in the 2010 season.

Quote from Cawwa :Yes, but still no one can practise with the new weight added ...

Do you get rid of any weight in case you are placed from 7th and down?
Do you get rid of any weight after some races without points?
.... or do you keep the weight added for the rest of the season?

The answers to those questions can be found in this post

Top 6 are ballasted

Ballast is recalculated after every race

No you don't keep the weight.

Like I say, read the post again

Cheers

Hi Racers,

This thread is a bit of info on the race today and also an area for guys to chat about the race ahead of tonight's program.

Points I want to make:

1. Use '$sc' to alert the admins
when you have a crash during the race from which you cannot recover. That means if you cannot move, or are on your roof, etc. Do not Shift+S or Shift+P. Go ahead and bind '$sc' to a button on your wheel or keyboard.

2. Take a look at my post on the race-by-race ballasting system which we're trialling today. It's a trial, so if it works better than last year we keep it, if not, we go back to last year's system.

3. The race is 8 laps in length

I think that's all for now

Cheers and best of luck everyone!

Quote from 666MePhIsTo666 :That should make the 2nd and 3rd heats more interesting, but at the same time it's a little unfair because the ones with weight never got the chance to practice with it... Guess we'll have to see how it turns out.

There won't be any weights for the 1st race, just the 2nd and 3rd ones at this pre-season race.

Just thought you guys might like to know that we're going to trial race-by-race ballasting at tomorrow's Pre-Season meeting. Remember, it's just a trial, so nothing is definite - we're trying it out to see the effects.

Quote :Success ballast
Late-entry ballast for drivers who did not compete in pre-qualifying after round 1, at the series admins discretion.
Ballast shall be given for the following positions:
1st - 42kg
2nd - 35kg
3rd - 28kg
4th - 21kg
5th - 14kg
6th - 7kg
After each race the ballast weights will be scrapped and recalculated; ballast will not be accumulated
Before each round, the top 6 in the championship will be given ballast, and shall carry the ballast for qualifying and race 1 at the next round
For races 2 and 3 at each round, the top 6 in the previous race shall carry ballast

Not only is it an invalid lap for going off track (which i think it doesn't really matter) but the replay doesn't even work to the end...

Thanks for that, I'll take a look tonight - haven't had the chance to check the last few .sprs

Quote from scotty2888 :Pre qualy starts on Thursday and finishes Saturday. This means you go on the server as and when in this time to set the fastest time you can. The league admins or whoever will then take the fastest 32 drivers (accorsing to there laptimes) to enter in the actual race on Sunday. There is no shoot out session for the test race.

Atleast thats the way ive understood it.

Yep you got it spot on, Scotty.
