I have a love hate relationship with those barriers. On one hand it keeps people from pegging the throttle and spinning onto the track, as well as making sure drivers have some speed before they blend onto the track.

on the other.... where you could go doown and touch the apron then recover before, you cant now. it takes away valuable recovery room.

As a member of a Team within the FM community, Id like to just say that i agree with most of this thread. Both sides have bashed on the other. All that can be done now is sort the constructive data from the erroneous.

Harry, Ive read your posts here and in the FM forum. Humorless and immature in any thread you disagree with. Telling someone how stupid you think they are isn't constructive and isnt helping your team's or your personal reputation. If you want to improve it, try a little professionalism.

Any member of Zwarte Wind Racing that behaves in such a way warrants a talking to about thier attitude, as we race outside of the FM community (all forms of racing) and as such are representatives (in no official function, but by association). As FM community members this affects us as well. Dont let the attitude of the vocal few affect your oppinion of the silent majority. Pop on vent, chat with us, and runs some races with us (no kb drivers PLEASE, you make us very very nervous with your jittery moves). Up for just about anything to relax from the multiple series we have entered.

Crazy idea but how about a trillian plugin that does the same thing? People who run trillian usually run it full time, so BAM theres your LFS manager favorites and buddies lists

Ghost Ve, you my friend are a god for realizing the potential of Phidgets.
think we could get support for a Text 8/8/8 too? (for those of use who wanna build a proper digital dash)

OK Outguage has been released, its time to revive this thread.

I was thinking while waiting, and looking at a program called FS2Phidget. its an interfacing progaf for taking data from MSFS and feeding it to phidgets. its its particularly neat because it lets you sort thru the variables to find the one you want, then you decide what to do with it yourself, by telling the program what to do with it. for instance, you could find teh RPM variable and define a series of lights to light up as teh RPM's increase, ala F1

(sorry about typos, my pc isnt keeping up right now and im typing into the buffer)

ayway i thought this would be a neat idea for LFS because then anyone could do anything they wanted to build an LFS cockpit with almost no programming knowledge, jsut setting up the LFS2Phidget priogram and testing it till itperforms as desired. like setting a fuel warning light, or temp warning light. logging of data (an external function, but still propbably possible in this kind of application)

Thoughts?

1) 14:00 local german time which makes it GMT+2 right now correct?

2) i know there is a 2 driver maximum but is there any reason a single driver cant race? in other words is it required to have 2 drivers

Scuderia Toro Rosso, Drivers wanted.

i have 3 seats to fill because all 3 of my Drivers quit on me over a dispute within a separate team that we all shared.

SURROUND SOUND

being able to hear where cars are in relation to you will make teh FOV problems a little less of a problem. Especially true on the oval, where you have cars racing just inches from each other.

OK, for a moment lets just put the spectation issue aside.

Is everyone agreeable to the idea of merging the lists?

Id love to see a "brakes on board" instead of the bland text message on screen. in fact as a driver it would be nice to have to go thru the pit proceedure. Brakes on during tire changes, clutch and revs during fueling, go.

im not really sure any of teh cars have teh steering range for agressive pit stops like f-1 though

Quote from thisnameistaken :Basically legal h4x. Nobody wants that. I don't know about you but I'm interested in racing, not developing the best racing bots.

i suppose those that are as interested in the racing as teh technology behind it are a minority.

And there are those among us that would like to further that technology. in all likelyhood these improved systems would be shared as freely as setups are today. and if you dont wanna use it, youd be free to simply... not use them.

On that note, the formula cars and GTR's should have the option to develop your own tcs and other software (of course it would come with plain jane software tht just does the job)

in that way a team could develop thier own control programs just like real teams have to develop thier own

Best idea ive heard so far is to merge the lists. Let me clarify a little

No option to select which liscence level

Demo users get demo servers.

S1 clients see S1 servers (s1 being those with only S1 content available)

S2 clients see S1 and S2 servers in a single list (no marking for differentiation)

this idea allows S1 users to at least race on servers that are populated and simply makes the s1 content only servers in s2 unneccisary.

This is probably the simplest solution, and the one that will make the most people the happiest. S1 racers get thier races, s2 drivers get to keep thier elitist separation (keeping S1 drivers out of S2 races).

if its an s2 based server running only S1 content i fail to see the harm in letting someone who paid for THAT content use it. A nice appology popup would be nice if the server changed to a non-s1 track, but thats just being nice.

in short, one server list, populated servers, happy customers

Quote from Woz :I would love a server setting to lock settings, once the default setups are improved a little.

Simple solution. (Simple enough that i thought it went without saying.)

Let the "spec" racers run thier races. Offer flags to lock out changes on different tabs.

there are other adjustments you can make that make a difference
Timing for one. in this case the adjustment would be simplified (you can only adjust within the range that wont damage the engine) within this range it's possible to adjust your powerband. at one end you have a nice street car with a wide, but not too powerful powercurve that is very very forgiving vs the other end which makes a lot of power over a very narrow band and doesnt forgive at all (this example is a very extreme, you MIGHT gain 10 hp on most engines)

this is for the guys who want to go big. touring cars and GT cars (it might even allow those GTR cars to all run evenly by adjusting powerband to the course)

and i dont have anything agains Spec racers. Spec Miata class in the SCCA is one of the most competitve classes in the world. But on the other side of the coin, the Speed GT class isnt easy either.

the only way i could see that happening is if demo users could spectate s1 and s2 races, but not participate

Hooray... maybe i CAN make a functioning Formula car wheel after all (started designing a concept in Paint Shop Pro today)

id have to also ask for the ability to bind a live setting to an axis.

as long as i can tell the system what to do with the information i would be happy. If i want to send my vehicle speed to a Phidget's LCD that would do the job for me. In fact i could probably fit everything i need on one LCD. use a bar type tach, digital speedo, fuel and temp indicators, and maybe just one character to make sure teh pit speed limiter is really on

After a full read i dont think i missed much.

to sum up what's here, youve got your guys that want to be able to tweak and optimize, and youve got your spec racers. both are ok groups to be in, but it rather be able to adjust. I happen to fall in the former grouping.

the same could be argued about suspensions, which are actually much more complex settings wise. and you guys would be quite miffed if you didnt have them
