Quote from trebor901 :no its the fact that the item has a tracker on it yet you phone apple and the handler in this case TNT and neither of them can tell actually where it is and the tracker doesnt get updated for nearly a week

I find some couriers tracker systems are terrible. I guess some depots can't be bothered scanning the item as it comes in, so many parcels I've had still think their in the USA, China etc when there in my hand

On your earlier note I think Apple always ship from China, when I bought my MacBook just over a year ago it came from China to.

Tell me about it, thinking of investing in a rally spec car the way Aberdeens roads are. King Street, a very busy main road through Aberdeen has one lane with a pothole the length of my car and the width of the lane!! Will have to snap up a shot when I pass it on Saturday.

Quote from sam93 :Yes I know. Engine is very dodgy not to declare, but things like strut braces, new anti roll bars and suspension, yes are suppose to be declared, but I can't really see why.

Just to add to the reasons why everything should be declared.

Someone ran into the back of my car a month back, damage was very minimal to the rear bumper. When it got assessed the guy checked every detail of the car, tyre condition, tread depth, looked over every panel, had a look under the bonnet and had a wee peak in one of the front wheel arches. All for a ding to the bumper... I wasn't even at fault, so why bother checking it all out? So if you really think you are smart enough to out-wit these guys feel free, but is it really worth paying well over £1000 for insurance, to find when you do need it they say void?

If you get a legit quote for £1200 on this van of yours then I'd be taking it out as soon as I turned 17. My first year driving a 1.2 clio was about £1400. I'm now 21 and my insurance is finally getting more sensible at £450 for a 1.25 fiesta with no claims.

Since I moved into the city I just put £30 in at a time which usually does me a week and a half. Before when I stayed 20miles out the road I just filled it up because it be gone in less than a week!!

I just can't believe how expensive fuel is getting and how few people seem to be moaning!! We're paying 113.9p at the moment :|

Quote from ChiliFan :I think it's more the fact that in my experience, art subjects are graded on your ability to experiment with varying media, and extrapolate your ideas into new ones. That, and the whole "relate your work to that of other artists", which I am bad at.

So um if you can draw but you can't produce several hundred drawings a month and then bullshit about them enough to fill three sketchbooks, don't study art. A friend of mine got an A* in GCSE Art for painting stick men over a map of the London Underground, but he had some interesting things to say about it all. I usually come up with "I wanted to draw this so I did" and that's that.

To right!! I study Graphic Design at uni and were forced to spend weeks researching and developing ideas... if you so much think of the final piece you'll get shot down! Yet at the end you'll come up with a very nice final piece but someone who writes an essay on each decision and designs something poorly gets a better mark because they justify the poor design

Our whole contextual studies program over the last 2 years has been totally fine art based... our lecturers are determined to turn us into artists! The computer is just a tool they say, so whats a paint brush

Quote from james12s :most of the time rental karts are gx200s restricted to gx160 power levels so they never really rev very far and especially indoors wont have been at high revs for long periods so i shouldnt worry to much.

I'm not so sure karting centers restrict their karts, I used to believe that but working in one I've found ours aren't. We have two centers and none of the karts are restricted, even the bigger 270s. Some manufacturers offer handicap levels.

One thing you have to remember is gearing + the sheer weight of a hire kart. One of our sodi karts is like 150kgs on its own... then you have a honda cadet which is basically the equivalent in racing terms and it weights 103kg with driver!!

brt900, I'd personally look around. I would have thought for not much more money you could probably pick up a older racing pro-kart (i.e two honda gx engines) which will be quicker and just as reliable. Any 8 year old in his cadet is gonna fly by ya if your driving an ex-rental kart.

It was aired in October last year if memory serves me correctly, I heard about it the day after and ever since have tried to find it on the ITV player with no success. I thought I'd leave it for a bit and see if someone would upload it to youtube/vimeo etc or make a torrent but can't find it anywhere.

Anyone happen to have it or can put me in the direction of it? Would really like to see it as I really like pixar films!!

Cheers

Lots of snow fell this morning in Aberdeen!! Tried to go to work, but turned around and came home. Took me over an hour to cover 3miles... I used to stay out in the countryside where our roads were barely ploughed and still managed to drag my little fiesta into town... until the snow was too deep to drive over.

Woke up this morning, thinking it would be a piece of piss to get to work, I was wrong! People in the city haven't got a clue what the hell to do in the snow!! Some plonker in his Audi S4 had his foot to the floor on a straight, flat bit of road which of course was making him weave all over the road to the degree us coming in the other direction were forced to dive into the parking spaces full of snow to avoid being hit.

Then another one as we went downhill about to approach the slight incline over the bridge he slowed down so barely even made it onto the hill. We all backed up so he could take a run... but nope Mr Alfa was determined he could burn up all the snow by wheel spinning for 5mins. I got out, told him you need to back up and take a run at it otherwise your going to burn your clutch out (it was stinking)... he looks at me if I'm stupid and continues doing it his way. In the end I took a run at it, went into the deeper snow on the otherside of the road and still made it up.

Quote from Rappa Z :He's not doing it because he likes car or thinks women are good drivers.

$$$

I think he'd have to enjoy the sport to some degree before he puts millions into a team... otherwise its one very expensive piece of advertising that is probably no where near as rewarding/effective as other media out there. Not like he is going to be making money off the team for spoonsoring them.

There's probably few sponsors in F1 who really benefit from the exposure, giving the cost. It was probably pretty effective for brands like Johnie Walker, Malboro, West etc.

I went as my own creation! Had work all day 10am-9pm, so raced home... quickly through that together and legged out the door to meet some friends. Good night, best costume I saw was a toss up between Optimus Prime and the chicken from family guy!! How can people wear those tacky costumes that costume shops sell, they look naff like kids costumes in adult size!

Home made creations all the way!

Quote from pearcy_2k7 :Im not talking about austria, he said we should use them in the UK, which ive explained they are not needed ffs. Where did you get austria from?

My Dad used to put snow tyres on our Golf when we first moved out into the countryside, without them we'd never have gotten anywhere as our roads are the very last to get cleared. Not really needed these days, the spells of snow never seem to last as long as they used to!!

Although for the few days we had bad snow at the start of the year up here a fair few talentless people could have done with some after they blocked some of the roads with there full throttle wheelspin attempts at getting up hills...
KVM Switch

Looking at buying a KVM switch so I can hook my MacBook upto my desktop without unplugging everything. I've come across this Belkin 2 port one, usb and with audio. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/120041

My concern is the only OS listed are as follows: OS Required - Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition, Microsoft Windows 2000 / XP, Apple MacOS X 10.0 or later.

No mention of Vista 64 which is what my desktop uses, does the OS really matter for a KVM switch? I thought all the work was done by the switch itself and the computer didn't really know any different where the feeds were coming from.

Can't help but laugh at some peoples opinoins on Button being "lucky" or undeserving. I've never liked the guy but no one can take away the fact he is WDC. He made the best of the car in the first 7 races, and whilst he messed up a few times during the year he still managed to score more points than anyone else.

Although I can't help but feel had there been a Schumacher or Alonso in any of the top cars the last two seasons the championship would have been long over. Both Button and Vettel showed a fair bit of inconssistency this season where drivers like them would have taken full advantage of the situation.

Got a shot of my mates 125cc 6 speed gearbox kart a couple weeks back, has like 45bhp!! No. 33 to be exact. Absolutely nuts, I've driven a few different classes but nothing comes close to that. The acceleration once it hits the power band is insane, as soon as it hit like 9000rpm it rocketed off. Such a smooth gearbox as well, really nice to use. Mate says it hits about 90-95mph by the end of the straight. Had to be raining so didn't want to give it too much welly around the corners cause he didn't want to burn up his wets, needs them for this weekend.

Don't think I could race any other kart class if I was to get back into it!!

I'm not a very emotional person but when watching McRae tributes it makes me sad to know he is gone!! He was the only reason I watched rallying 10-14 years ago, his determination and commitment to win and even fix the car during the stages if he damaged it was unmatched.

I still remember how gutted I was for him when he drove that Skoda and the mechanics messed up the clutch change in the service.

Quote from IDUI :It depends: if the competition you're entering has weight requirements then you may be at an advantage to the lighter guys who would have to add ballast which is static as opposed to your own body weight that you can use.

I had to add 30kgs or so of lead to my kart to bring me up to weight, I'd actually say it was probably a slight advantage. We set the kart up on scales, kept the weight low down and balanced the kart as best as possible left to right. We actually had different holes on the seat to move the weight about. In the wet we used to raise it higher up on the back of the seat.

But in hire karting, I'd say weight is a bit of a disadvantage. Our track and karts at work don't have a huge difference between people who are 3/5 stone of a difference. Tracks you accelerate a lot then I'd say you'd lose quite a bit.

Loving the little 500!! So much better for racing online, can get away with some contact. Although is it just me or are the collisions a bit strange? I hit a few people in front when graphically my car wasn't touching them. Also having a problem with my momo wheel, I can't use the paddles because if I downshift it turns the ignition off... so had to resort to buttons on the wheel.

Tyre squeal is nice, but is way over the top. I'm struggling to know when I'm locking brakes.

Seems my sim racing driver gets just as fed up waiting for the race start
