I saw it was already mentioned, but I'd like to give a bit more details

For any of you wishing to race the FO8 in a league, visit owrl.de. Next saturday, 20:00 CEST we'll race at Kyoto GP Long. Together with the next pre-season race, 5 spots in div A are to be earned for S2 Season 5, which will be using the FO8, starting in September. More info on that later this week.

Hi Scoop, I've got a question.

You should just ask your teammates, we have a meeting with the dutch drivers next week where I and one of my #21-entry team mates will meet eachother. We plan to go over to my place to drive together and do the change-overs by hotswapping on the same pc. This means only 1 drive will be online, even though we can change the player locally during the pitstops. Do you allow this?

Last Weekend ChampCar announced the new chassis they'll use from next year onwards, I would love to see that car in LFS:
http://www.champcarworldseries.com/News/Article.asp?ID=10649

The big plus this car has on the current F1 is no traction control, the push to pass (which would be great for league races, and maybe pickup races as well if you control it correctly) and the aero - it's been designed to give a minimum of disruptive air behind the car, so close racing will be better possible.

ChampCar runs only 1 oval this year (Milwaukee, 1 mile, drivers have to use their brakes there) and very probably none next year.

Hi,

This seems to be an issue after the upgrade. User who registered before the upgrade could enter a hotmail-adress, but all mail from the e107-system went to the spam folder. Therefore we thought we had made registration a bit easier - by skipping all verification and activitation steps. However, now it even doesn't accept this.

I'll take a look into the system next week toif we can turn this off, as all important information will also be posted in our forums.

If you wish to register for a gmail-account just ask me for an invitation. contact me by a pn here or mail me: owrl.league at gmail.com
Pre-season races coming up in the OWRL

Two new races coming up in the Open Wheel Racing League. We will prepare for the next season in the OWRL with the two fastest cars in LFS. And there is something at stake: the best drivers in these two races will earn a spot in Div A, the FO8-division of the OWRL.

The first event will be held at 12 August as we take the FO8 to the Kyoto GP Long track. Two weeks later, 26 August, we will take our BF1's out of the garage and on the Westhill International reversed circuit. The winner of each of these event will earn a spot in between the already qualified Div A drivers for S2 Season 5, starting in September.

The servers for these races will be sorted by pb / hotlap. Server 1, with the fastest drivers, get the most points. All drivers who can race fair and control these cars are allowed to take part, even if you do not plan to drive in S2 season 5. To register, signup for the owrl at www.owrl.de and state you take part at the upcoming event.

The Open Wheel Racing League is dedicated to bring the best open wheel racing in Live For Speed. The league, organised by drivers of the pod team, has run for over two years. The OWRL not only caters for the fastest drivers, but also for any LFS S2 licensed racer who can race fair.
Andy(GER) wins eventful OWRL Season

OWRL's S2 Season 4 has been won by ELR'Andy(GER) after four eventful races. The 20 drivers who took on the challenge of the S2 circuits with the Formula V8 provided their fans with close races and a lot of action. Andy won the championship based on his consistency. Fininshing all race on the podium, he didn't win any single event. #low|Zockmachine drove home in second place. In the Formula XR division, x.Rel´ax stole the championship in the last race with a perfect performance.

Division A - Formula V8
The drama and action of this season starts at the very first race at Fern Bay Gold. It looked the only thing that could stop him was something beyond his control. Indeed, that happened. Halfway through the race, Csimpok lagged out from the server and in frustation never returned to the championship. Pod.CM Krutch took the early lead in the championship by winning the race.

In the second race, ELR'Button found himself in fifth place for the first half of the race, but a good strategy and a strong 2nd half meant he took over the lead 7 laps from home to win at Kyoto National.

At Westhill International, Zockmachine held off Andy(GER) and Le Kid as the top three crossed the line only 2 seconds apart.

The final race at Aston GP was eventful at least. It started with a red flag after a huge start crash in the first turn. The second start was clean, but in lap 3 the leader crashed in the final chicane, taking with him many drivers. Once the dust settled, Pod.CM ISKuGa was in the lead and he would keep this until the end, winning in his very first race as a teammember of pod - virtual gaming. The big winner however was ELR'Andy(GER), who came home in 2nd place and won the championship.

Division B - Formula XR

In the Formula XR divisions, races were even closer and so was the championship. After three races, it seemed FPR | Steve#5 and |!NF|MoT3C would fight for it at the last race. However, as both drivers had to miss the final race due to various reasons, all eyes were on 3rd place.

In third was x.Rel´ax. He had a small chance to win the championship. In the final race he needed to win to jump up from third to first in the final standings. Despite being followed by Steve's teammate, Aldi, Rel'ax hold on to the lead at Aston GP and won both the race and the championship.

Quote from Becky Rose :Actually they have, I understand two leagues have been in talks with them about coverage - but it all went via PM .

What I wrote and what they asked for then was about LFS coverage, not about league coverage.

Quote from Vykos69 :LOL. Sorry, but that's due to lack of interest of FILSCA into LFS: There are tools like that sonce YEARS. Upload and automatic race results were done already 2 years ago by the LFS Endu League, and is also used by ESL since YEARS.

exactly. If they really wanted it, we had this done by long now.

Of course LFS doesn't get the same ammount of attention as the other sims due to publishers and stuff. That's part of the strategy of the LFS devs.

However, instead of only pointing to the mags, websites and whoever is helping in the sim racing community, maybe the LFS community should look at itself. It has seperated itself from the sim racing community. The split from RSC is only a small part in this. The attitude of (some people in) the LFS community doesn't help either. i.e., the authors of AutoSimSport made a post here asking for someone who would like to write articlesfor LFS. They got a lot of replies, but not from people who stepped up to promote LFS.

The first step to improve this is to embed the LFS community into the simracing community. Topics like this only increase the gap...

Quote :Basically, it is because FILSCA (because they say they need some stupid script to upload replays) need to extract their heads from somewhere half way down the body and towards the back.

true. We had talks between the OWRL and FILSCA back in 2005 and that was the problem. They told me they were working on it, apparently not. If they only had asked if we could find someone maybe we would have found a programmer willingy to write this.

The sim racing community is a) not big enough and b) too much divided to really get it to the pro level. And compared to community's like CS or WoW, we already have a real life counterpart to compare ourselves to (real racing). If I really want to be a pro driver, I'd go drive in real life and not in LFS. You can't do that with a gun in your hand unless somethings really wrong in your head :pillepall

For most leagues, some kind of sponsorship is needed to keep things running, unless the admin likes to throw around with money. I'm not going to say names, but without our sponsors we wouldn't have decent servers or the support we get from our team in the OWRL.

To get some broadcast coverage is just a way to get more attention to your league. It's a good strategy in trying to attract drivers, but I don't see how it reaches many people outside of the sim racing community and therefore how it could make LFS more pro.

I´d like to start a discussion on race length. I would feel more comfortable with a 4 hour race. Not only would this give every driver in the team about the same track time, but also it would make it feel more like a team endurance. I could do 3 hours on my own!

What to the other drivers think?

I know it's not a bug in LFS Stats, but it is in LFS.

It can post the right results on the screen after the race, so why wouldn't it be able to send the right result to LFS-World and whatever program used to read the result?
Unknown finisher bug
Krutch
S2 licensed
Even though this was reported way before Patch S, this hasn't been fixed.

When a driver finishes the race one or more laps down and he exits the race (spectate, pit or leave servers) before the last driver crosses the line, an error message appears on the server: 'unknown finisher'.

The results the participant get on the server are correct. However, if you look at LFS World or run LFS Stats, the position of the driver is not or wrongly recorded.

An example on LFSW. For the driver who happens to be the unknown finisher, this race wasn't saved to LFS World at all.

The thing for a league admin is, if you see it on the server you can make a screenshot of the result and easily edit the results. However it is easy to miss it and then you have to watch the full replay to get to the results in the end. Therefore, I hope this will be taken care of once and for all.
