With the fun events in the summer almost done, it is time to look forward to the next season. Of course the OWRL F1 will continue as planned. Also, we will start two new Div A/B seasons. S2 Season 9 will start on 8 September, two months and four races later S2 Season 10. The calendar for these two seasons will be announced in August.
Div A will race with the Formula V8 and only pre-qualified drivers can participate. Div B features the Formula XR is open to everyone. Most of the 24 Div A drivers have qualified before this season, but there are still a few spots to be deserved in the Pre-Season.
The Pre-Season consists of two FO8 races on 11 August (Kyoto National) and 25 August (Aston Grand Prix). The winner of each race and in the combined overall standings will qualify for Div A. More spots might be available, this will be announced before the first race in the pre-season.
Calendar:
11 August - Kyoto National
25 August - Aston Grand Prix
The OWRL 500 was held last saturday evening and it was a fast-paced race. Starting from the top three, GFC Bio and LR|Trekker soon found themselves on top of the field, working together to increase their advantage. The decisive moment in the race was the pitstop. Trekker pitted earlier and Bio had the advantage of driving faster lap time with low fule for a while. That gave him enough of a lead to make his pitstop and keep his advantage to the end. Congrats to Bio!
The OWRL will held an event in the special class. 32 Formula V8 cars, 500 Kilometer... and just one winner! With a average speed of over 280 km/h will it be a tough race for drivers and machines. The oval is underrated by many because of it's 100% full power, but over the distance just one lapse of concentration and incidents, accidents and unplanned pit stops will happen. The 32 fastest driver qualify.
To register, first sign up as an OWRL member on www.owrl.de then go to the entry.

What for an excitement in the last race for the summer break in OWRL F1. On Aston National rev, the leading team in the championship, SK Racing, took part with a only one car, driven by the well-known race n1lyn. It was his OWRL F1 debut. The same goes for the GFC team, even though one of its drivers (Chris) had driven in the series before. The story of the race was the close fight between Chris and n1lyn.
After the start on the 5,6 km long track SK|n1lyn lead the field in the first laps, followed by GFC-drivers Chris and 58style. 58Style had to retire after 14 laps. On lap 21, n!lyn entered the pit for his first pit stop, but did not slow down enough entering pit lane, resulting in a drive through penalty. This gave the lead to Chris. During the second pit stop sequence, n1lyn regained the lead.
Going into the final 5 laps of the race the SK Racing-driver had only a few seconds on hand. This seemed to be enough and it looked like Chris had to settle for his third second place in a row. But then all of a sudden, n1lyn had a spin in the tricky chicane and had to let Chris go past. Over the next four laps the drivers battled for the win and Chris managed to bring home his first victory in OWRL F1. Third place goes to Trekker. The driver from Lightning Racing, the team previously known as vsports, worked his way up to the field and scored his first podium finsih.
The OWRL F1 now goes into the summer break and will continue on 18 August for the second part of the season. In the first half of the season saw 4 different winner in 7 races. Husky won three races and is leading the championship. The same goes for his team, SK Racing. Cyber Racing looked like the strongest team in the first three races of the season, but got only 5 points in the last four races.
The OWRL will still be active during the summer months. The upcoming events will be announced later this week!
Like racing in the streets of South City isn't hard enough under normal circumstances, the 6th round of the OWRL F1 season only gave the teams 1 week of preparation time and a new patch to contest with. With two new teams and walls close all around the track, the race promised to be exciting and exciting it was. Chris almost won the race from pole, but a misunderstanding with a backmarker and speeding in pit lane made him hand over the race lead and win to HusKy. New team R4R went to podium with Storm finishing third.
With patch X coming out just one day before the race, three new teams were invited to the OWRL F1 Series. EXcite-racing joined with their drivers Michael L. and Nick H. (even though technical problems forced him to pull back his entry during qualifying). The next new team, R4R, had two drivers with experience in OWRL F1, namely Fl!p and Storm. The third team to join, GFC, needed more preparation time and will start competing in two weeks on Aston National rev.
The starting order for the race was vs.Chris in front of SK|HuskY. Those two remained in those positions at the start, but behind them incidents were happening on the tight streets. This lead to some drivers having to visit their pit box for an unplanned pit stop in the first few laps.
In lap 6, a misunderstanding between Chris and JET caused the race leader to spin. As a result, he fell back to 8th position. HuskY lead the race then, but had to pit on lap 15 of 75, giving Miško the lead. Chris was able to drive through the field and when Miško pitted, he regained the lead on lap 23.
After that it seemed pretty much settled with lead changes only happening during pit stops. Husky and Chris were substituting the lead, but the latter driver seemed to have the upper hand. That was until his final pit stop in lap 58. Speeding whilst entering pit lane gave him the drive through penalty that would ultimately cost him the victory. Chris closed in on Husky during the final laps, but not enough to have any chance of taking the win away from the SK-driver. Storm finished third, marking a great achievement from the new team.
A surprise winner in the fifth round of the OWRL F1 series. As the series went to Japan to drive on the Kyoto Ring GP Long rev config, all eyes were on the SK and Cyber-drivers, who had shared the victories in the first four races. But in the race, it was [OMC] JET and vs.Chris who were fighting for the victory. Chris led the most laps but a late pit stop gave the race lead and the victory to JET, his debut win in OWRL.
SK-driver Husky’ was the fastest in qualifying. He set a time of 1:42.23 in the first 10 minutes of the 30 minute qualifying session, leaving the others to fight for second. JET was best of the rest ahead of both SCP-drivers.
The race start was clean apart from a spin in midfield, leaving a few drivers waiting. Husky kept first place, but had to give away the lead a few laps into the race whilst making a few small mistakes and an early pit stop. The one who was then ready to take over the lead of the race was a surprise for everyone. A few teams were only able to race with one driver. Virtual Sports looked to be one of them, but on race day team manager Trekker managed to sign ‘nBio’ Chris as their 2nd driver. Starting from fifth, Chris showed great pace and consistency and only 6 laps into his debut race in OWRL F1, Chris was leading the field.
The only lapse in his consistent run was in lap 21. Three laps after his first pit stop, Chris had to come in again for suspension repairs. This mistake would eventually cost him the win. Chris regained the lead but now faced an extra pit stop only a few laps from the end.
JET had run a almost invisible race up to then, even though he lead a few laps before his second pit stop. Keeping station in the top five for the whole race, JET got to the front when it mattered. As Chris made his final pit stop, JET blew past the start/finish line to get the lead and keep it until the end, scoring the debut win for both himself and the team. Chris and Husky’ rounded out the top three, both within 15 seconds of the winner.
In the driver championship Husky’ extends his lead over Prophet. The team championship is very close though, with Cyber Racing and SK Racing locked in points. Both teams are 12 points ahead of the fight for third. Factory Phantom Racing, Online Motorsports Club and SciroccoPlayers are all within 1 point of a second.
The OWRL F1 now continues in one week, taking the fastest car in LFS to the streets of South City Long. The OWRL hopes to make use of the possibilities of the new patch, allowing for more entrants from the next race onwards.
From a user viewpoint, I'd find this interesting but as with most of such things, I'll probably would not make use of it very much. Maybe when I find a friendly driver online and would like to know what kind of experience he has.
If you are going to make this I'll add the OWRL results and replays.
For over half a year, n!faculty sponsored the Open Wheel Racing League servers. The OWRL admins and drivers would like to thank n!faculty for showing true community spirit and helping us when we needed it.
The OWRL found themselves without servers when the previous hoster changed management and stopped sponsoring pod, the organizing team of the OWRL. n!faculty stepped up and allowed the OWRL to make use of their hosting. Now pod had found a new host in SheepServ.de, this is no longer needed and this is a good moment to show our gratefullness to n!faculty.
The following OWRL members say: Thank you n!faculty!

The OWRL F1 championship has a new leader. SK|HuskY` ran a strong race at Westhill International rev last saturday night, where as others had their fair share of problems. Husky` lapped the complete field and shared the podium with two drivers scoring their best result in OWRL F1 so far: ScP|KiLl3r in second and 1stBFA haelje in third. For 1stBFA this was the first time in the points and just as everyone else, the team was very surprised to get a podium finish.
For the fourth round in OWRL F1 the teams went to one of the fastest tracks on the calendar: Westhill International. The track was driven using the reversed config. Qualifying was the closest of the season, with the top 9 within 3 tenths of each other.
The race did not end very close however. After a clean start, the fast track caught some drivers out under race conditions. One of them was Cyb|Miško who eventually finished 4 laps down. In front, both SK-team mates kept eachother company for a long time. Husky` and Vince swapped the lead several times, up until Vince had to make an extra pit stop for repairs. It dropped the SK-driver to sixth.
This played into the hands of ScP|KiLler, who took second with five laps to go and scored his second podium. It did look like pod driver Speedykev would also grab a podium position, but the team had a refueling problem at the second pitstop, meaning that the driver had to make a splash and dash right at the end to make it to the finish. This gave Haelje from 1stBFA the break he was hoping for: the first podium for his team.
Husky`s second win in a row meant he overtook Prophet from Cyber Racing in the championship standings. Prophet won the first two races, but then was not able to participate in the third and fourd round of the season. Miško remained third, just staing ahead of KiLl3r and Aldi#13. In the team championship, a non-score from both Cyber Racing drivers did not make them lose the lead, but SK Racing now closed in up to 6 points.
Without the championship leader Prophet (technical problems stopped him before the race even started) the OWRL F1 series went to one of the longest tracks on the calendar. In the race over 39 laps it was HuskY who won the race starting from pole.
HuskY qualified on pole with a time of 2:01.88, 2 tenths faster than the rest of the field led by ISKuGa an KiLl3r.
Even though a start crash was feared by most people in the paddock, the start and first corner of the race went by with almost no problems. HuskY held the lead, but two mistakes in the first six laps of the race dropped him to P3.
The sensation of the race was the driver making his OWRL F1-debut for Factory Phantom Racing, Steve#1. Qualifying in fourth, Steve drove a very consistent race and ended the race on P2. Not bad for a first OWRL F1 race! With his team mate ALdi#13 finishing on P6, the team jumped up to second position in the team championship, which is still being lead by Cyber Racing.
In the front of the race it was HuskY who was able to regain the lead by pitting later. After just under 1 hours and 25 minutes the SK Racing drive crossed the finish line and scored his first victory in OWRL F1, in front of the previously mentioned Steve#1 and another first time podium finisher, ScP|KiLl3r.
In the first post some changes have been made to the calendar, as some of our participants and admins will be at the ESL Finals on 16 June. Now there is only one week between the race at Kyoto GP Long rev and South City Long.
Champ Car is my favourite racing series. As you can see in my signature, I write for a CC-news site. Have a lot of contacts with fellow Champ Car-fans and look really forward to the Euro tour CC is going to make this year.
The OWRL F1 league finished its second race at the Blackwood GP track. This famous track is well-known by all LFS racers and promised to deliver close racing. Too close in turn 1, as a start crash took out many of the contenders for the race win. Prophet used a one-stop strategy to beat his teammate Miško and score maximum points after two rounds in the championship
Based on the pre race testing it seemed that three teams had the speed for pole position in the qualification: Cyber Racing, SK Racing and pod – virtual racing. These three teams showed they had in the exciting qualification session. During the last lap cyb|Miško took pole away from his teammate with a time of 52.82. pod.hama ISKuGa drove the 3rd fastest time. The top 9 in the qualifying was covered by only 0,5 seconds, promising for a very close race!
After several technical problems race director Germanpio decided to restart the race and shorten the distance to 80 laps. Maybe it was this, maybe the grid was too close, but fact is that in turn 1 the mayhem started.
Once the dust settled it became clear that SpeedyKev, Jeronimo (substituting for Vince) and especially HuskY lost the most, starting a long race for them. At the front, both drivers from the FPR team gained multiple position from their starting spot, putting them directly behind race leader Miško, Prophet and both ScP-cars.
In the front, the race turned out to be a fight between the two teammates from Cyber Racing. Miško drove away in the front, but it sooned turned out to be a two-stop strategy race for the Serbian driver. Prophet on the other hand was on a one-stop strategy and that gave him the advantage. Prophet gained the lead on lap 48 on would drive it home in lap 80 to score his second straight victory.
It was not the race for SK Racing and pod. Husky, who already was involved in the start crash, went on to roll his car in the chicane in lap 27. In sympathy his team mate Jeronimo crashed in the same spot in lap 40, ending the day early for the team. Both pod – virtual racing drivers did manage to stay in the race until the last lap. Speedykev however did not cross the finish line as he ran out of fuel on the last lap. No fuel worries for ISKuGa, but a drive through penalty and suspension damage made seventh place the highest possible position for the German driver, where as he finished the first race on the podium.
I guess we also have to say thank you to Intel for organizing this and promoting LFS
The only problem I have with this is that Husky is now didn't had the time to train for the OWRL F1 event tonight! Now Stoddart is in Champ Car maybe we can offer a Minardi F1 two-seater ride to motivate the OWRL F1 drivers better
The second race in the brand new OWRL F1 series will take place tonight at the famous Blackwood GP-circuit. Who needs a minute at Blackwood? Certainly not the OWRL F1 field! However, with the race being 89 laps concentration will be key at this track.
Going into the second round, Cyber Racing will hope to continue the momentum gained by winning the first race. Hard competition can be expected from SK Racing. Especially Husky` will be the one to watch, after missing out on the victory by just 3 seconds in the first event. The SK-Racing-driver then went on to win a BMW M6 at the Intel Racing Tour final and hopes to continue his winning mood in OWRL F1. Still excited by his succes, Husky' states:
The pre-race training gives hope for fans of the underdogs. Even though the fastest time was set by first race winner prophet, ScP|Micha, FPR|Aldi and both pod - virtual racing drivers follow closely. Can any of these drivers keep Cyber and Husky` from winning again?
The OWRL F1 race on April, 21st can be spectated by tuning in to LFS TV or LFS Spectator. Qualifying starts at 19:30 CEST with the race following immediately afterwards on 20:15 CEST. More information on the series can be found on www.owrl.de.
Green Light for the biggest motorsports event of the year
Yesterday the first BF1 Grand Prix of the OWRL started on the wonderful Kyoto National track. It was the first of twelve races for nineteen drivers.
But first things first: Eight new pb's were driven during the qualifying so the teams and drivers were well prepared. After nineteen Minutes of the half-hour qualifying SK|Husky set the Pole-Position time with a 1:16,47. His teammate SK|Vince was on the third place with a tenth of a second hehind him which was a great start for SK. Between them was cyber|prophet, who was only 0.03 seconds behind Husky.
The tension was notable. Everything was new. The rebuilding of the track has just finished before the event. Even a new traffic light was installed, explaining the delay. At 20:29 CEST race director Germanpio started the Formation Lap of the Kyoto GP. Prophet had the best start and led the field into turn one, followed by Husky and Vince. Vince broke too late and drove through the gravel. While losing only one position he was hit by another two cars and found himself back in 12th position. After he could catch up to the leader he had to end the race in lap 25.
Because of the nervousness and the incidents prophet had to overlap the first drivers in lap ten. His strategy worked well with a short first and a long second stint. In lap 37 he lost the lead, but Husky and ISKuGa had to go to the pits as well, so that cyber|prophet won the race after 1:22 hours in front of SK|Husky and pod.ISKuGa.
After many technical failures only twelve drivers saw the chequered flag.

If we have to name one favortite team for this OWRL F1 season, it has to be SK Racing. Not only has the team, under the name Ocrana, won in many racing series, it also was the fastest in pre-qualification. Among the members of the team are some of the fastest drivers in LFS. n1lyn for example is a four time ESL Pro Series LFS Champion. The team is looking to start the first ever OWRL F1 season with EPS-driver Husky and multiple Dutch champion Vince.

pod - virtual racing joins the first ever OWRL F1 season with two veteran open wheel drivers still excited to start in a new endeavour. The team is one of the more well known German racing teams, winning the ESL Pro Series Finals with Pascal Schönrock in 2006.
The two primary drivers for the team will be ISKuGa and Speedykev. Both drivers have been ranked highly in previous OWRL season. England's Speedykev, hired by pod for this league, was the winner of the first ever season in the OWRL. 27-year old ISKuGa only missed out on the FO8 championship in 2006 by scoring one less third position than Andy(GER). Being 2nd in qualifying for OWRL F1, pod will certainly be one of the teams to watch this season!
Formed on Nov. 17, 2006 from the popular Xbox Live racing club with drivers Jet and Speed. This American team competed in the [SR] F1 championship, then following Speed’s departure from the team at the Kyoto Ring GP Tortoise joined on for the remaining two races. In our first season with Jet and Speed the team experienced 1 win, 5 podiums and 1 double podium. Then after singing Tortoise the team earned 1 more podium, and missed an easy win in the last race due to a disconnection. With its experience and a strong showing in pre-qualification, OMC will be one of the teams to watch in OWRL F1.
