Quote from seniecka :[..]Which is stunning compared with it's brother model GTX 650 which requires a new PCIe 3.0 port and additional power supply, cos uses 400 W or something like that[..]

There is no such thing.. a high end graphics card requires around 200W. The 400W is the required power for a complete system running a GTX650 and basic components.

I, for example, am running a Q6600 + GTX670 on an old PSU (5 years) of 500W.

Looking for Romanian racers, for next Saturaday's RLR Event (sorry for writing in Romanian, hope it is alowed).
____________________________

Salutare tuturor racerilor romani,

Am creat acest thread pentru a anunta urmatorul eveniment important organizat de Racing League Romania, o cursa de anduranta de 6 ore !
Nu exista numar minim (si nici maxim) de piloti inscrisi intr-o echipa. Toate detaliile se pot gasi in topicul dedicat, RLR - The Next Episode.

Va asteptam in numar cat mai mare; este un eveniment deschis tuturor pilotilor virtuali romani, indiferent daca sunteti sau nu inscrisi deja in campionatul nostru.

Quote from DANIEL-CRO :Please guys don't flame Victor, no wonder why he almost never post in such a threads. Devs are working very hard to bring us S3 as soon as possible, so please respect that.

I agree with Daniel on this one. If you really want to help, give some constructive input (being criticism or not), like cargame did (I was surprised actually ).

MrSam, no need to take it personally. In the worse case, Victor posted his opinion. He didn't even pretend that he was God and is 100% right all the time. You are free to disagree, you can change that with valid arguments, no need to go overboard and insult people. How would you feel if every time you post something, 1000+ people would come, take every word and twist it in 1000 ways ?
Don't take my remark in the bad way either, i'm just saying that in order to help there is a different way.
________
Now back on topic, in my opinion I think that LFS misses the LIVE dynamic, of a currently still under development game. I am not talking only about releasing stuff, but also of what's seen outside of the 3 dev's circle.
From the outside, as a new comer and if you are not being involved in any league/competition/organization the is not much to attract you in the way of a "new" purchase. It's like when you buy a good product but at the end of life.. You usually make a very good deal and you get for what you have payed, BUT not many people make this step.

I think the idea of server-forwarding it's very good. Usually when you go online with no fixed schedule, you search some good and quick racing. That could assure the flow of connecting clients, as it would somehow guarantee that you won't be "lonely".

I also share Mysho's point; I think that this and next year will bring a lot of real competition.. I am saying this based on my own feeling (and as I see I am not the only one). I am a big fun of LFS, for me it really is the best in terms of simulation, and I also do believe in it's development, BUT if Assetto Corsa will be as good as I "feel" it will be.. I will be very tempted to "go to the other side".. it's the way it goes.
______________
Bon, to finish on a good side, we are not there yet, and if there is something to be done, hopefully we'll stumble on the good ideas.

Wow, that is some cool info Adrian. You are involved directly in doing them or you contact a company that does it ?
Either way, I am very interested, and I am sure I can sell the idea to a few other friends. Could you find some sample photo of a similar product ? Just to have a glimpse of what we can hope for ?

As the examples go.. well I'd want them all . I'll start though with:

1) XRT, 1:24, metal inserts, stickers
1) XRT, 1:24, metal fully & movable, stickers
1) XRT, 1:24, plastic ?
What does mean ready for RC parts ? You mean it would be possible to have a "body" shell for let's say a Tamiya 1:10 TT01 chassis ?

This is only to be able to have an idea about the difference and if it is really significant.

Quote from Saintmain :[..]you realy need to take a look at it
this thing will take the immersion of sim's to a whole new level.

I feel the same way. I have watched the discussions on another forum, and I have to admit that from the info found on the internet, this thing promises indeed "another level". If generally accepted by game developers, I will definitely be on the buyers list when released for public.
Only thinking at LFS + Oculus together .. :faint:

Good thread, "Holyman"

While it is true that a 3d printed model could satisfy the basic need , all I have seen on the net doesn't look "natural".
You can still see the "texture", it doesn't give a smooth surface like casting. Let alone the durability/resistance, and the overall finish (in a traditional model you have metal, transparent plastic windows, maybe rubber for tyres, ..).
Haven't seen all this in printed models.. And at the end, why not mention the balance quality/price for a 1:24 or 1:18 scale model.

Example:

LE: except maybe for THIS kind of solution. But this is industrial prototyping.. and I assume so are the prices.

While that remains an interesting opportunity, the results I have seen from 3D printers are not so convincing.. Casting would definitely have a better result.
I keep asking about this because in the case of finding a viable/doable method, I think(hope) we could convince enough people for an affordable batch to be produced.

PS: Thanks for the paper solution

Quote from patrese :This system would be a cost effective way of creating the "patterns" but not for reproduction.
The cheapest and easiest would be solid casts in terms of producing production moulds.
I do this sort of thing for a living, (website under construction)
if there is interest in it i would be happy to do alot of the work at cost.

Quote from patrese :Those costs mainly reflect the fact that they are all made individually by a 3d printer.
You only need one pattern to reproduce them at a fraction of the cost. Mould and pattern costs are spread over however many cast there will be. If there was a order for 100+ of each pattern i would expect the retail price to be no more than £20.

Patrese, are you still in this business ?
Have you some more info on the subject ?
Maybe some photos of similar jobs ? Just to have an idea about the posibile finished quality.

I am actually here because I was thinking today that some scale models would be so cool; and then found that you have already talked about it here

As the title says, is anyone using SweetFX with LFS ? Does it even work ?
I have tried ENB, and while it is not bad, I wonder if it can be pushed further . Thanks.

Have no ideea, I don't play iRacing . (although I have to admit that after seeing this video, I have signed for a 3 months free trial..).

Don't know about their history either, but in this video the car behavior seems right in my book. The only thing I really hold against "them" is the subscription concept.. I could MAYBE undestand it for online play, but to pay a consistent sum of money and at the end NOT beeing able to use it even offline.. outrageous.

Anyways, I've posted the video just for sharing and admiting that looks good; I have no intention to start a debate to defend or not iRacing.

In any case, great looking settings; thank you for sharing.

Options >> View:
  • You go to Custom camera
  • Make sure that on Draw, "body" is selected
  • And then you play with Pitch, Rotate, X, Y, Z offset to get the camera where you want
Alternatively, you could also try FlipCams
Also, don't forget to check Squid's excellent guide : Squid Guide

I am addressing especially to Scawen, as he seams (or seamed.. by the looks of it) to be more active on these threads, but it is a message that could be addressed to all devs:

I don't understand why you sometimes choose to answer provocative posts like some of the above (please take my statement gently, as I an not at all trying to blame you even for this..). Why not just simply ignore them ? . There will always be trolls, especially from behind a computer screen, and what's more important is that no matter what you say you'll probably never manage to change their opinion.

Instead, why not starting a normal dialog with the people that really understand why you have taken the decision that you did, people that really care about what you have to say and not trying to twist your every single word in something that it was not meant to; with people that WOULD very much appreciate an update (being communication or content wise) but don't ASK for it as it was already agreed on, with people that seem/are almost as passionate about using and enjoying LFS as you are about working on it ?

In my opinion is either that, either total silence.. but don't really see the point regarding the later.. I think that (re)starting a healthy communication would eventually "heal" the community and who knows, maybe even push the trolls away (or they would at least be "educated" by the community).

I suppose that similar messages as the one I am trying to send here were probably discussed before (The Very End is a name that comes into my mind), but one more time couldn't hurt.. Heck I am even ready to start a petition, if it would help to show the there could be some truth in what I am saying (..or show me that I am wrong ). I am sure that there would be many ways to make this work (from a simple "official" communication thread, to even a moderated one).
I, for one, am still enjoying LFS, running a league with some friends and having a blast each Sunday evening. I DO feel that I have received what I've payed for, and would NOT be disappointed even if tomorrow you would announce that you gave up on developing LFS. On the contrary, I am impressed about what you (Scavier, this time ) have managed to create, and even envy you at some point that you had the courage to go on this path and choose independence. I am not saying that everybody should feel like me (but I would like to :P ), and it doesn't have to - there are quite a few alternatives out there or there will be soon enough (rF2, IR, pCARS - maybe, AC - maybe, rF, ...).

As a closure; you (Scavier) have managed to create something exceptionally on many levels, that will definitely be remaining in the history of simracing, no matter what some would argue.. wouldn't that be a pitty to just help it slowly die ?! And more importantly, for that reason ?!

Hope you get my meaning, and perceive this as positive feedback, because it's in this intention that I've wrote it.
