In an attempt to make the racing even cleaner we set a minimum standard for entry. Even after warnings, mostly from Havoc, that this would empty our server. He was right, we were wrong.
Many people supported this idea but when when it comes down to it people prefer busy servers. We didn't empty over night, it took a few weeks but now we are left with a core of regulars who enjoy clean racing but that is just the same as any server with about 15 or less racers on it.
We took the restriction off recently as it's now completely pointless.
Due to the low take up of numbers on our Random Madness server we have decided to open this competition out to all of our servers and change driving points to total points during the period.
The criteria for the 6 positions will now be
Most amount of points made during the competition period
A Random position in the points, during the competition period, ranking. This number will be decided with input from lfs forum users after the event.
Most amount of laps driven
Top 3 points per lap (if you score 200 points in 200 laps your points per lap will be 1) In the event of a tie this will go to the racers with the highest safety rating.
The top prize will still be £50 with £5 going to each runner up. Payable via a paypal transfer.
The point of my post was that you can't just decide there is only one possibility from Scawen's single line about Eric. I'm not the best at getting my thoughts down in words. It was pointed at the "Oh so that means eric has done nothing then" posts.
I sit firmly in the "will wait patiently still enjoying this great sim, wouldn't have a clue how to do my own, believe they are still working because they tell us they are" camp.
Rc10racer suggests that Scawen is in charge of what gets released.
Scawen answers by saying that he has never tried to stop anything of Erics from being released.
People on here start making assumptions that this means that Eric has nothing to release and has done nothing.
Consider this,
What if Scawen has never had to stop Eric because Eric hasn't wanted to release?
What if they work as a team and they are working to an agreed plan that they will release together?
What if all Scawen was actually saying was "I'm not the boss, please stop assuming I am"
What if they have a good laugh between them about "one angry post Eric" and Scawen was just adding a little fuel to the fire?
All or none of the above may be true. You can probably count all the people that do know the truth with your fingers.
After a disapointing start to this competition the current standings for 5 of the 6 criteria are:
most laps
pilot x 645 laps
most points
puzzle 962 points
top 3 points per lap
razvan 3.974576271 points per lap
puzzle 3.630188679 points per lap
gapet35 0.510121457 points per lap
kiyoshi 0.484716157 points per lap
As stated in my first post, no one person can claim more than 1 of the 6 prize spots which is I have named 4 users in the top3 points per lap.
All of the above have also completed the miminum requirement of 200 laps. I am sure the top 3 points per lap will be closer at the end.
Ignore boothy, he just likes to wind people up a bit. He's not such a bad chap really.
Regarding your insim, it may be an inferior product, at the moment, but I think another insim comming on the scene is a good thing. Competition pushes people to make their products better.

I got the replies I was expecting. People protecting their "favourite" server, telling me to gtfo... doesn't suprise me since they're who full those servers.
One reply, Yes just ONE reply mentioned server names. The ONE that did mention server names actually gave you a nice reply. First he explained why the multiclass servers had points in place and then he kindly pointed you in the direction of a couple of single class servers which do get busy.
Hardly "People protecting their favourite server" is it?
These multi-class servers are full because most people just look at the server with most people and join it. I bet if right now we filled a single class server and make it enjoyable it would get as popular.
You won't find much dissagreement with this statement on here. Many have said that the sheep follow the crowd onto the fullest servers. The question is how do we change it?
I don't play in the single class servers because they're empty and I don't have the time to waste to wait for someone to join for hours.
So is it the people or the servers?
shameless plug
We at IHR have tried to offer an incentive to spend some time on our single class server. So far it hasn't worked as well as we'd have liked but you will not see us bitching on here about it. We will keep plugging away trying to build up some interest. Why don't you join us? New car and track every 8 races (OK not quite the 3 you mention in your OP), Tell us your favourite combo and we'll add it to the list. Tell us the combo you hate and we'll consider removing it(vote end is also available). Don't feed back to us and we'll do nothing.
Suggestion from me. Restrict how many cars from each clas can be on track at same time.
In other words. Soon everyone will be racing in GT1, and when a new guy joins he will have to drive all alone in GT3, which is quite frankly boring.
So limit how many GT1, 2 and 3 class cars can be on track.
(Does that even make sense? )
This argument comes out all the time when a multiclass server is launched and, in my experience, it really is not what happens. Generally people will race in the car that most are racing in, which tends to end a class in the middle somewhere. Just my 2p
...lots of moaning about lack of single class no points servers...
There were 2 single class, no ranking/points/rating requirement servers announced in this very forum section recently. Both were in responce to requests from forum users for single class servers. Both are currently empty.
What YOU have asked for has been provided but YOU have to support them, help populate them and give feedback to help evolve them otherwise they may disappear again.
Just to remind you all that this competition starts today at 19.00 GMT
We hope to see a lot of you seasoned lfs'ers going for the top 3 points per lap prizes.
I will try to post weekly updates of who is currently in 5 of the 6 prize positions.
Good luck to everyone that takes part.
Edit: Due to my inability to read a diary and subsequent fail, the competition will start approximately one hour early(18.00 GMT). What difference will one hour make to 60 odd days?
That has to be one of the most fun things I have done in lfs so far. The first few laps were epic and to actually lead the race for a short period for me was . It was a damn shame that real life got in the way and I had to retire.
Thanks again to deko and the whole team because without your passion it wouldn't have been half the event it was.
To celebrate the opening of our brand new server, (IHR)Random Madness, we have decided to run a competion.
There will be a first prize of £50 and the remainder of the prize fund will be shared equally between 5 runners up. This will sent to the winners via paypal.
The competiion will Start on the 3rd July 2010 at 19.00 GMT and run until the 31st August 2010 19.00 GMT
To be eligible for a prize you must run at least 200 laps on the server while the competition is running.
There will be 6 racers picked from the following criteria and the winner will simply be drawn out of a hat. The criteria will be:
Most amount of Driving points (!ptd)
A Random position in the driving points ranking (!ptd) This number will be decided with input from lfs forum users after the event.
Most amount of laps driven
Top 3 points per lap (if you score 200 points in 200 laps your points per lap will be 1) In the event of a tie this will go to the racers with the highest safety rating.
In the event of the same driver filling more than one criteria a different driver will be picked using one of the above criteria. (ie if driver with most points also has most laps then 2nd most laps driver will be picked.)
As you can see the first prize may not go to the fastest racer or the racer who has the most amount of time to spend on the server. With the random ranked player becoming eligible it really will mean ANYONE can win the top prize.
Our normal server rules will apply and the reports section on our forum will work in the usual way with full visiblity.
If you are currently banned from IHR servers we will be accepting appeals on our forum and will deal with each case seperately.
Good Luck
Ironhorse Racing
Edit: (IHR) Members are not eligible to enter this competition.
