Quote from The Very End :I guess it's because it's trying to be accessable for a broad range of audience. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it.
But about scripting, do you think it was scriped when he rolled over with the crane lift?

Yes, like everything in that episode.

This special was very underwhelming tbh.

When the genuine stuff sticks out like a sore thumb you know something has gone wrong.

I think its no coincidence that the young drivers had done exceptional at melbourne, the formula for how power is delivered is soo different everyone this year is essentially a rookie.

Quote from JackDaMaster :It IS done under one system. Even if the sensor is faulty, the FIA must agree that is it and then a predetermined system with correction factor is used. The teams ARE NOT allowed to use their own fuel flow models. Please ACTUALLY read the FIA report. As in the words.

Redbull claiming FIAs fuel sensor is faulty: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/112968

Honesetly the fuel flow rate bs is a really stupid rule, but if your going to inforce it, it should be done under one system therefore there can't be discrepancies.

Quote from seniecka :I always hate when some stupids overreact and come to instult you personally for no reason. Seriously?
As a specator, I just expressed my view on the case. I've stated it before an actual explanation from Kamui came out. Despite of that, it doesn't change the fact you can't simply divebomb into the bunch of cars, especially when brakes are cold. You need to keep the distance, and it's not the first time when japanese drivers do that. Call it stereotypical, but it's the way it is. T. Sato acted in such way, K. Nakajima as well, now Kamui's turn. They are simply too agressive.

Roland, you can badum tss in your ass.

Loving the chaos, doesn't look anything like the DRS/Pirelli orchestrated crap of last year, even if the gaps are bigger.

Quote from NitroNitrous :My highest position last year was 86th a week before the end of the event, there are just too many Italians . I stopped trying when I realised that I had to drive very unrealistically and get advantage of the physics flaws if I wanted to improve my time
Will try again!

At the end of the day once you pass the TT it comes down to real driving/fitness.

Also i don't know why they make a big fuss about the P1 vs 918 its pretty darn obvious the P1 will munch it, unless they do what that did with the lenvo and make them do a lap in the wet.

Quote from Becky Rose :Authoritarianism gives more power to governments. It's not much to do with left/right. Fascists have gone too far too.

Authoritarianism = Social Control

Socialism = Economic Control

If there was a system where socialism could be established without a separate entity of a countries people controlling it then it may be called something other then economic authoritarianism(this would equal the pure form of Communism Marx had in mind).

Quote from PhilS13 :Oh hell yeah the power they are producing is amazing and it's good news...but spreading that 850 bhp has been acheived is bad info. I think so far I've done ok debunking that with only basic common sense nay-saying but I can work out some numbers.

http://www.grandprixengines.co.uk/Egs_69_70_71_Honda.pdf

1988 honda limited at 2.5 bar race trim

611 bhp @ 12500 rpm
Specific fuel consumption at peak power : 0.467 lb/(BHP*hr) -> 129 kg/hr

Bring that to 2014 at 100 kg/hr considering the fuel efficiency is the same

611 / 1.29 = 473 bhp

-Engines have to last multiple races vs one in 1988
+Better technology

Does the improvement in technology in the last 30 years in an F1 internal combustion engine warrant an increase from 473 bhp peak to 700 bhp peak. (+40%)

You think what you want. I think the impressive speed is coming first from the wide flat powerband and the use of KERS for most of the straight instead of only the first 2 seconds. Not from 850 bhp peak.

but that's speculation as we don't have the data on where the ERS is being used, besides wouldn't the KERS boost of the old engines equal around 800hp?

Considering the turbos were using significantly more fuel than the N/As of the era 40% sounds about right if not more.

Considering these engines are 30% more efficient then the V8s which give or take at the worst would be around the same figure as those at that period.

Quote from Hyperactive :100 kilograms for race and 100kg/h peak. I think it is fairly easy to calculate how much hp on average per lap you get out of 100 litres of fuel in 1 hour 40 minute race.

So I did a fast calculation with these numbers:
- fuel efficiency of the engine: 0,35
- fuel energy 46MJ/kg
- duration of race 100 minutes out of which 60% is on full throttle

I get about 600hp (1,34hp=1kW). That's without ers, kers and derps.

That assumes Fuel efficiency stays static, which it ludicrous.

Qualifying times are the only thing worthy of comparing now and its easily around 800-850hp(Combined with ERS as it stands now).

Quote from Intrepid :But weather, time of day, and we don't know the exact specifications of the tyre. It's not as simple as soft vs hard.

Also, In 2013, despite more development and showing their full hand Barcelona test times in March were faster than the qualifying times set during the GP weekend.

Add in the restricted fuel rate the cars are still going to be pretty slow. Especially compared to 2004.

Temperature makes a big part, however everything your saying sounds like someone who is trying to hate everything about these cars.

It's been a damn while since F1 has been given a new set of regs where engine competition is now back on the agenda.

not to mention they are all at early development and the engines are already pulling much more HP then expected, Alonso hit nearly 340km/h at Bahrian which is around 20km/h higher then what they did maximum last year there.

of course it depends what setup they are using but its not like they where just doing a straight line test and that speed difference is quite huge.
